摘要: The main goal of this paper is to describe optimization of off-grid PV system in respect to the capacity shortage value remote area in Osijek. The paper shows a model consisting of PV modules, converter, batteries and electrical load. The examined data are based on measured load values for the residential home. Finding an optimal size of off-grid PV system is shown using HOMER software. The investment costs are presented regarding different values of capacity shortage ranging from 0 % to 10 %. This paper also presents the influence of O&M ranging from 0 % to 3 % on the NPC.

摘要: Jatropha curcas L. (Jatropha) is a plantation which growth well in tropical countries, such as Indonesia. According to the recent studies, Jatropha seeds can yield oil, however raw Jatropha oil needs transesterification process, results in Jatropha Methyl Ester (JME), in order to reach suitable properties as biofuel and substitute diesel fuel for generating electricity, especially for area that is lack in electricity or low of electrification ratio. Meanwhile, Sumba is one of thousand islands in Indonesia that is still lack of electricity access but rich of solar energy potential, hence suitable for photovoltaic (PV) energy development. This study aimed to explore the potential hybridization of PV system with JME based biofuel. In order to reach this milestone, author analyzed properties of JME in comparison to those of diesel fuel and unveil several benefits of Jatropha, particularly related to the utilization for energy alternative. Analysis of the hybrid system was carried out by applying HOMER simulation. In addition, literature study of recent observations was also used for this study. According to NASA Surface meteorology and Solar Energy database, annual average of solar Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI) in the Sumba island is 5,84 kWh/m2/day which is potential for PV utilization. On the other hand, Jatropha seeds can produce biofuel for generator. Subsequently, combination of PV and Jatropha based fuel generator yields NPC and COE of US$ 46,283 and US$ 0.248 respectively, which is much lower in cost than single feed diesel generator. This hybrid system will also potentially reduce gas emission of hydrocarbon fuel. Finally, combination of both PV system and Jatropha oil-based biofuel shows bright prospect of energy alternative as well as support electrification access for Indonesian society.

Techno-economic investigation of a grid-connected photovoltaic-biomass hybrid system for shaping the sustainable electrification in Ayeyarwady delta of Myanmar
摘要: This article presents the techno-economic investigation of the Grid-connected Hybrid system by harnessing the abundant potentials of Renewables in Ayeyarwady Delta of Myanmar. The focused village in this study, Ma Yan Chaung, is geographically situated at latitude 16°35'7"N and longitude 94°54'7"E. Its annual average Solar GHI (Global Horizontal Irradiation) is 5.08 kWh per m2 per day. It is included in the electrified (Grid arrived) village tract of Moke Soe Kwin and located in the Myaungmya Township. Site survey to that village was conducted in May, 2019. According to the collected data, the available Biomass is 480 tonnes per day and the estimated demand of the focused village is 2296 kWh per day with 361.7 kW peak. The thousands of different models are simulated in the powerful Microgrid tool, HOMER (Hybrid Optimization of Multiple Energy Resources) Pro (version 3.13.3). Then, the feasible Grid-connected system is proposed with 100 kW PV; 1,800 kW Biomass; 45 kW Converter; total NPC (Net Present Cost) 4,255,082 $; levelized COE (Cost of Energy) 0.01575 $ per kWh; Initial Capital 524,000 $, and Operating Cost 219,337 $. Annual Energy Sold to Grid is 15,045,299 kWh and Average Monthly Energy Sold is 1253775 kWh. The simulated results significantly demonstrate the good performance and the available benefits of the proposed system. Moreover, this system can shape the Sustainable Electrification to tackle the Climate Crisis in Ayeyarwady Delta Region of Myanmar.

Photovoltaic Solar Technologies: Solution to Affordable, Sustainable, and Reliable Energy Access for All in Rwanda
摘要: Despite remarkable economic growth and development in recent decades, Rwanda has been still facing energy crises and challenges. Although the country has considerable energy assets, less than 10% is utilized for its local electricity needs. Currently, national installed generation capacity is estimated at 221 MW, for a population around 12 million, and electricity access is estimated at 51% (37% grid and 14% off-grid networks). About half the population is without electricity access while the grid-connected users face high electricity tariffs and frequent power outages (blackouts). The national grid itself is also experiencing high losses. This paper used the HOMER software for modeling the optimal, sustainable, reliable, and affordable photovoltaic solar technologies as energy solutions for all (off-grid and on-grid users) in Rwanda. The selection and recommendation of a suitable photovoltaic (PV) solar technology depend on its annual electricity production capacity, electrical load, renewable energy penetration percentage, economic viability, feasibility, affordability, carbon footprint, and greenhouse gas emission level for climate change considerations towards a clean and greener future. The results show that the least cost of energy (LCOE) for electricity production by each of the solar PV systems with storage, PV-grid-connected household, and PV-grid connection with storage was 67.5%, 56.8%, and 33.9%, respectively, lower than the normal electricity tariff in Rwanda. The PV systems with storage proposed in this paper could be effective in increasing national energy resource exploitation, providing affordable and reliable energy access to all citizens.

Performance evaluation of building-integrated photovoltaic systems for residential buildings in southern India
摘要: The integration of photovoltaic modules into the building structure is a challenging task with respect to power generation of PV module and the effect of incident solar radiation. The performance of building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) modules varies depending upon the orientation and azimuth angle of the building. In this work, the year-round performance and economic feasibility analysis of grid-connected building-integrated photovoltaic (GBIPV) modules is reported for the hot and humid climatic regional condition at Kovilpatti (9°10'00"N, 77°52'00"E), Tamil Nadu, India. The appropriate mounting structures are provided, to experimentally simulate the performance of GBIPV modules at various orientations and inclination angles (0° to 90°). The result indicated that the optimum orientation for installation of BIPV modules in the fa?ade and walls is found to be east while that for a pitched roof south orientation is recommended. The overall average annual performance ratio, capacity utilisation factor, array capture loss and system losses are found to be 0.83, 23%, 0.07 (h/day), and 0.17 (h/day), respectively. In addition, the economic feasibility of grid connected PV system for residential buildings in Tamil Nadu, India is analysed using HOMER by incorporating both a net metering process and electricity tariff.

摘要: As a contribution to the studies on techno-economic optimization and sizing of a standalone energy system, this study presents the optimal sizing of a Photovoltaic (PV) system based on various tracking configurations. In order to elucidate the impact of temperature coefficient of PV modules on the techno-economic results from the optimal sizing of a PV system, a comparison of tracking configuration with and without temperature coefficient is also presented. Results indicate that a PV system with no tracking device performed best in terms of economic metrics. As regards the level of annual electricity production, the PV system with two axis orientation had a superior performance if temperature effect is considered while the PV system with horizontal axis, continuous adjustment performed best if the temperature effect is neglected.

Resource Assessment and Techno-Economic Analysis of a Grid-Connected Solar PV-Wind Hybrid System for Different Locations in Saudi Arabia
摘要: The economic growth and demographic progression in Saudi Arabia increased spending on the development of conventional power plants to meet the national energy demand. The conventional generation and continued use of fossil fuels as the main source of electricity will raise the operational environmental impact of electricity generation. Therefore, using different renewable energy sources might be a solution to this issue. In this study, a grid-connected solar PV-wind hybrid energy system has been designed considering an average community load demand of 15,000 kWh/day and a peak load of 2395 kW. HOMER software is used to assess the potential of renewable energy resources and perform the technical and economic analyses of the grid-connected hybrid system. The meteorological data was collected from the Renewable Resources Atlas developed by the King Abdullah City of Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE). Four different cities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, namely, the cities of Riyadh, Hafar Albatin, Sharurah, and Yanbu were selected to do the analyses. The simulation results show that the proposed system is economically and environmentally feasible at Yanbu city. The system at this city has the lowest net present cost (NPC) and levelized the cost of energy (LCOE), highest total energy that can be sold to the grid, as well as the lowest CO2 emissions due to a highly renewable energy penetration. This grid-connected hybrid system with the proposed con?guration is applicable for similar meteorological and environmental conditions in the region, and around the world. Reduction of some greenhouse gasses as well as the reduction of energy costs are main contributors of this research.

摘要: DC microgrids comprising of hybrid distributed generation is a welcoming trend in renewable systems based power generation. It is also considered as a viable solution to provide electricity to the rural areas in underdeveloped countries. Distributed generation is beneficial because it reduces the transmission losses, has less environmental hazards, and is comparatively cheaper when renewables are employed. In this paper, a hybrid microgrid is proposed for the irrigation system in Gujranwala. The system is designed in Hybrid Optimization of Multiple Energy Resources (HOMER). The solar resource data is obtained from National Solar Radiation Database. The different sources considered in this case include solar photovoltaic (PV), hydrogen gas based fuel cell, and diesel generator. An optimization analysis is performed and a comparative study is completed in HOMER based on the sensitivity variables chosen. The various design configurations are evaluated and the optimal design is chosen based on load demand, available resources, and the cost of energy.

Concise Approach for Determining the Optimal Annual Capacity Shortage Percentage using Techno-Economic Feasibility Parameters of PV Power System
摘要: PV power systems have been commercially available and widely used for decades. The performance of a reliable PV system that fulfils the expectations requires correct input data and careful design. Inaccurate input data of the techno-economic feasibility would affect the size, cost aspects, stability and performance of PV power system on the long run. The annual capacity shortage is one of the main input data that should be selected with careful attention. The aim of this study is to reveal the effect of different annual capacity shortages on the techno-economic feasibility parameters and determining the optimal value for Baghdad city location using HOMER simulation tool. Six values of annual capacity shortage percentages (0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5%), and wide daily load profile range (10 kWh - 100 kWh) are implemented. The optimal annual capacity shortage is the value that always “wins” when each techno-economic feasibility parameter is at its optimal/ reasonable criteria. The results showed that the optimal annual capacity shortage that reduces significantly the cost of PV power system while keeping the PV system with reasonable technical feasibility is 3%. This capacity shortage value can be carried as a reference value in future works for Baghdad city location. Using this approach of analysis at other locations, annual capacity shortage can be always offered as a reference value for those locations.

摘要: Economical, stand-alone, solar microgrids can be quickly implemented in most un-electrified regions of the world. Solar resource maps developed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), together with HOMER Pro software, have been widely used to determine the optimal design of microgrids. Repercussions of imprecise predictions of solar resources and electrical power generation lead to an increased likelihood of energy shortage in a stand-alone microgrid, or increases overall project costs. Actual solar energy productions of two sites in Kerala, India, were compared with solar electricity generation, predicted by the HOMER Pro tool. For both test sites, the results showed that the simulated, solar production was within 8.1% of the actual annual production. However, monthly variations in solar production led to unanticipated energy shortages in the simulated microgrids. These findings reaffirm the inexorable need of the following actions for cost-effective design of microgrids: a) systematic analysis of reliability of electrical supply, and b) deployment of schemes for demand response and flexible load. Statistical analysis of temporal variation of solar irradiance in the United States were used to inform recommendations for stand-alone microgrid design.
