  • High temperature wear performance of laser cladding Co06 coating on high-speed train brake disc

    摘要: Abnormal wear sometimes occurs on the high speed train brake disc surface in winter time. In this paper, Co-based alloy powders were deposited by laser cladding technology to improve the wear resistance of train brake discs. Sliding wear at room temperature, 200℃, 400℃ and 600℃ were conducted to investigate the wear behavior. Microstructure, hardness, and phase composition of Co06 cladding layers were also studied. The results showed that Co06 cladding layer exhibited better wear resistance than the substrate, with different wear mechanisms at high temperatures. Co06 cladding layers also exhibited better high temperature oxidation resistance than the substrate. Cr23C6 played a significant role in anti-friction.

  • Time-and-Space Resolved Cathode Plasma Expansion Velocities in Magnetically Insulated Coaxial Diode With a Metal-Dielectric Cathode

    摘要: Time-and-space resolved cathode plasma expansion velocities in magnetically insulated coaxial diodes (MICD) with edged cathodes made of bronze dielectric, bronze, and graphite have been compared through optical diagnosis. The voltage and current of the diode pulse of 260 ns are about 400 kV and 2.8 kA, respectively. The axial and radial expansion velocities of the cathode plasma were obtained through the angled lateral view by utilizing high-speed framing camera combined with the digital image processing methods. In addition, the evolution of the cathode and collector plasmas was visible firstly on the front view at the same time. The bronze-dielectric cathode not only showed low expansion velocity of about 0.5 cm/μs but also had other superior characteristics indicated by the strong emission capability, the fast plasma formation and the uniform plasma distribution. Thereby, the metal–dielectric cathode is a good candidate for applications in a long-pulsed MICD.

    摘要: This paper presents a high speed digitally programmable Ring Oscillator (RO) using Indium-gallium-zinc oxide thin-film transistors (IGZO TFTs). Proposed circuit ensures high speed compared to the conventional ROs using negative skewed scheme, in which each inverter delay is reduced by pre-maturely switching on/off the transistors. In addition, by controlling the load capacitance of each inverter through digital control bits, a programmable frequency of oscillation was attained. Proposed RO performance is compared with two conventional designs under same conditions. From simulation, it has been observed that the proposed circuit has shown a higher frequency of oscillations (283 KHz) compared to the conventional designs (76.52 KHz and 144.9 KHz) under same conditions. Due to the programmable feature, the circuit is able to generate 8 different linearly spaced frequencies ranging from 241.2 KHz to 283 KHz depending upon three digital control bits with almost rail-to-rail voltage swing. The circuit is a potential on-chip clock generator in many real-world flexible systems, such as, smart packaging, wearable devices, RFIDs and displays that need multi frequencies.

    摘要: A high-speed silicon microring modulator based on a titanium-doped silicon rib waveguide has been demonstrated. Small footprint of 26.5 μm × 26.5 μm with low driving voltage of 1.5 V and 22 dB extinction ratio at 20 Gb/s modulation has been achieved. The high-speed performance is attributed to the low capacitance of the device and the efficient plasma dispersion effect in silicon. Moreover, the modulator exhibits a low propagation loss of 2.5 dB/cm and a high modulation efficiency of 1.5 V·cm. The device is fabricated on a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafer with a 220 nm top silicon layer and a 2 μm buried oxide layer. The rib waveguide has a width of 500 nm and a height of 220 nm with a slab height of 150 nm. The titanium doping concentration is 1×10^20 cm^{-3}. The modulator is characterized using a lightwave component analyzer and a high-speed photodetector. The 3-dB bandwidth is measured to be 20 GHz. The eye diagrams at 20 Gb/s show clear eye opening with low jitter. The results indicate that the titanium-doped silicon microring modulator is promising for high-speed optical interconnects.

    摘要: In this paper, it is proposed that the electrostatic discharge protection devices may degrade the common-mode noise suppression. The mode conversion of ESD protection devices for single and multiple differential transmission lines are investigated. Experiments are set up to measure the scattering parameters and common-mode current of common-mode filter cascading different ESD protection devices. From the experimental results, the cases with four-line ESD protection array perform worse mode conversion and common-mode noise suppression.

  • Evolution of volatile cloud in pulverized coal combustion with high-speed digital inline holographic visualization

    摘要: The coal devolatilization plays a significant role in the combustion of pulverized coal particles. The evolution of volatile cloud during devolatilization of pulverized coal particles (105–125 μm) is studied in a high-temperature flat-flame burner by combining high-speed photography with high-speed digital inline holography (DIH). By the high-speed holographic visualization, the evolution of volatile cloud of pulverized coal from volatile release to soot aggregation generation can be divided into four stages. Effects of coal type on volatile cloud evolution are investigated using three different coals, i.e., Shanxi bituminous coal, Ximeng lignite and Yinni lignite. The results show that both the Shanxi bituminous coal and Ximeng lignite produce soot aggregation during devolatilization, which is rarely observed for Yinni lignite. Moreover, Shanxi bituminous coal has a higher potential in soot cluster formation for its higher coal rank than Ximeng lignite. The high-speed reconstructed image sequences are analyzed to measure the velocity slip between the parent particle and volatile cloud. Compared with Shanxi bituminous coal, Ximeng lignite exhibits a larger slip velocity. This work also demonstrates that high-speed DIH has the powerful capacity of directly observing the evolution of volatile cloud, and helps to gain a deep understanding of pulverized coal combustion.

  • A 12.8-Gb/s Daisy Chain-Based Downlink I/F Employing Spectrally Compressed Multi-Band Multiplexing for High-Bandwidth, Large-Capacity Storage Systems

    摘要: Toward the aim of realizing high-bandwidth, large-capacity nand flash memory-based storage systems, this paper presents a novel daisy-chain downlink interface (I/F) between a controller and a large number of nand packages. The daisy-chain I/F employs a tapered-bandwidth architecture with bridge-by-bridge data extraction based on a proposed spectrally compressed multi-band multiplexing (SCM2) technique to achieve low power consumption. By using the proposed downlink I/F, a nand controller can handle 32 low-cost nand packages while achieving 12.8-Gb/s throughput using two data wires. The fabricated prototype downlink I/F achieved a bit error rate (BER) of 10^-12 with power consumption of 252.1 mW for the transmitter and 375.7 mW for all four receivers together.

  • Design of InP Based High Speed Photodiode for 2 μm Wavelength Application

    摘要: In this paper, we proposed and designed the high speed uni-traveling carrier photodiodes operating beyond 2 μm. InGaAs/GaAsSb type-II multiple quantum wells (MQWs) were used as the absorption region of uni-traveling carrier photodiode to have optical response beyond 2 μm. A rate equation model was developed to study the bandwidth characteristics of this photodiode. The carrier dynamics of the carrier sweeping out process was discussed, and the structure parameters of the quantum wells were optimized. Result shows a 3-dB bandwidth over 40 GHz can be achieved with the optimized design. We also studied the feasibility of dual depletion PIN (DD-PIN) photodiode with MQWs absorber. The optimized DD-PIN photodiode could achieve similar bandwidth under relatively high-bias condition.

  • Optical analysis during reduction of nitric oxide in microwave-induced plasma promoted by activated cokes at atmospheric pressure

    摘要: Emission from microwave (MW)-induced argon plasma promoted by a bed of activated coke granules was analyzed spectroscopically during non-catalytic reduction of nitric oxide (NO) at atmospheric pressure. The spectral analysis with a high resolution revealed that strong 5 peaks were recognized in a similar wavelength region to N2+ first negative band when NO molecules were included in argon plasma. The strongest peak is caused by the Ar(II) ions excited with energy corresponding to 388.033 nm in the progress of atomic transition 3s23p4(3P)4d 4D1/2 → 3s23p4(3P)4p 4D°1/2. This transition must be enhanced by an interaction with any intermediates or radical species yielded during NO reduction reactions. The plasma temperatures were determined by Boltzmann plots from intensities of any two peaks in the spectral band. The temperature was significantly different dependently on choice of two peaks, whose fact is implying non-equilibrium plasma. The maximum temperature was recognized at a high level of 40,000 K due to the activation during the reactions. The images of the plasma observed by high-speed camera showed dynamic features so that MW discharge like streamer was generated frequently in the reactor. The reaction rate could be correlated with the ratio of the area dominated by dynamic plasma to the cross section in the reactor.
