  • The effects of Tb doped ZnO nanorod: An EPR study

    摘要: Structural and magnetic behaviors were studied and correlated with each other for Zn1?xTbxO nanorods synthesized by hydrothermal method varying x values from 0.01 to 0.05 with 0.01 step increment. The structural properties of Zn1?xTbxO nanorods were determined by X-ray diffraction tool. All nanorods were found as a single phase with ZnO wurtzite hexagonal structure. The concentration-dependent of lattice parameters, cell volumes, microstrain, stress, dislocation density, the locality of the atoms and their displacements, and bond length in Zn1?xTbxO (where x = 0.0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, and 0.05) structures were detailed. The particles with varying magnifications were observed as random agglomeration using Scanning Electron Microscope measurement tool. ESR spectra of Zn1?xTbxO were collected at room temperature on a Bruker EMX model X-band spectrometer operating at a frequency of 9.71 GHz. ESR measurements have been performed and analyzed through concentration dependence of the g-factor and the line-widths of pike to pike (ΔHPP) of ESR spectra. Experimental and fitting X-band ESR spectra of Tb doped ZnO nanorods with a different doping concentration of Tb recorded at room temperature were presented.

  • Hierarchical rutile/anatase TiO2 nanorod/nanoflower thin film: Synthesis and characterizations

    摘要: Hierarchical TiO2 nanorod/nano?ower thin ?lm was synthesized on ?uorine doped tin oxide glass via hydrothermal and aqueous chemistry methods. According to ?eld emission scanning electron microscopy results, the thin ?lm was crack-free and uniform. Primary nanorods had an average diameter of 95 nm and a length of 2 μm. They were perpendicular to the substrate owing to the TiO2 prenucleation. Growth of the nano?owers on the nanorods could increase both the speci?c surface area and roughness. X-ray di?raction and Raman spectroscopy showed that the nanorods were rutile; while the nano?owers were anatase. E?cient electron transfer from anatase to rutile could therefore occur. According to the di?use transmittance spectroscopy examination, the light harvesting rate was ameliorated and the band gap energy reduced to 2.83 eV. This was attributed to the F-doping the sample during synthesis. The enhancement of the photoelectrochemical activity allowed substitution of the TiO2 nanorod/nano?ower thin ?lm for the traditional TiO2 nanorods usually used in solar cells, sensors, and photocatalytic systems.

  • BaV2O6·H2O: A nonlinear optical crystal with a large bandgap

    摘要: The first Ba-containing hydrated vanadate as nonlinear optical (NLO) material, BaV2O6·H2O, was synthesized by facile hydrothermal method. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction result shows that this compound crystallizes in the acentric orthorhombic space group of P212121 with cell parameters a = 7.3993(6) ?, b = 8.9934(7) ?, and c = 9.7206(8) ?. UV–vis-IR diffuse reflectance spectrum shows that the compound has a large bandgap of 4.60 eV and moderate transparency range. The title compound shows second-harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency about 0.5 times of KH2PO4 (KDP). The structure-property relationship of BaV2O6·H2O was clarified by the first-principles studies.

  • Fabrication of an electrochromic device by using WO3 thin films synthesized using facile single-step hydrothermal process

    摘要: The development of an uncomplicated process for the preparation of tungsten oxide (WO3) nanorods (NRs) using hydrothermal method is still underway. Thus, this study demonstrated the growth of WO3 NRs on indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass substrates in aqueous solution using single synthesis step hydrothermally. The surface area and size of the NRs which should be tunable for electrochromic (EC) applications were controlled by adjusting the concentration of surfactants such as propylene glycol (PG). The synthesized NRs were illustrated using crystal structure study, surface morphology, chemical analysis, and the measure of the luminance of a color. The results manifested that increasing the PG content increased the size of the crystallite with a nanoparticle-like morphology on the ITO substrate, indicating the direct deposition of a stable WO3 thin film. In addition, the synthesized WO3 NRs exhibited fast switching speed and high contrast ratio implying superior EC properties for smart window application. Furthermore, an EC device with the dimensions of 2×4 cm2 was assembled using the synthesized WO3 NRs with the ITO/WO3/Lithium perchlorate-propylene carbonate-poly(methyl methacrylate)-acetonitrile/nickel oxide/ITO configuration. The device had an average optical modulation in the visible region, a fast EC response time (1.2 s for coloration and 1.5 s for decoloration), excellent coloration efficiency (243 cm2 C-1) and a superior EC stability (over 20000 color/decolor cycles).

  • Structural characterization of Nd-Fe <sub/>3</sub> O <sub/>4</sub> nanoparticles prepared by hydrothermal synthesis method

    摘要: Magnetic nanoparticles of Nd-Fe3O4 were prepared by hydrothermal synthesis method, using NdCl3·6H2O and FeCl3·6H2O as the starting materials in this paper. The structure and morphology of nanoparticles were investigated by XRD, FTIR, EDS and TEM. The results showed that, while the addition of Nd at 10% in mole ratio, resulted in the formation of Nd2O3 crystal peak in cubic Fe3O4 nanocrystallites by XRD. The absorption bands of Fe–O, –OH, –O–C–O– and –CH2– were accordant to the correspondent chemical groups by FTIR. The morphology of the prepared nanoparticles exhibited spherical structure and evenly distributed without agglomeration phenomenon by TEM. The elemental composition were mainly consistent with the precursor materials used in the experiment.

  • Hollow cage-like α-Fe <sub/>2</sub> O <sub/>3</sub> nanostructures: facile synthesis and excellent photo-Fenton catalytic performance

    摘要: Herein, α-Fe2O3 hollow cage-like nanostructures were prepared via a simple in situ template-assisted hydrothermal route. The results showed that the shell and the size of the α-Fe2O3 hollow nanostructures could be easily controlled by adjusting the amount of Fe source (FeCl3). By increasing the amount of Fe source, the size increases, and the shells are built up from the dense single nanoparticle aggregations to crosslinked nanoparticle aggregations with large cavities gradually. It is found that the surface morphology has great impact on charge separation and transport of the α-Fe2O3 cage-like nanostructures, too dense particle aggregations and too many large cavities are unfavorable for electron transport, only the product with an optimal primary particles and channels could exhibit good catalytic performance in photo-Fenton degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) with visible light.

  • FACILE HYDROTHERMAL SYNTHESIS OF FLOWER-LIKE ZNONANORODS WITHOUT CATALYSTS

    摘要: A very simple hydrothermal method (one step) was used at low temperature to synthesis flower-like ZnOnanorods on glass substrate without any template, catalyst or buffer layer before the reaction. Flower-like ZnOnanorods were synthesized by hydrothermally heating 0.1 M Zn(NO3)2.6H2O, hexamethylenetetramine (HMT) and NaOH were the starting materials for the chemical reaction under stirring. The field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) images showed that the flower-like structures were formed in 3.5 h hydrothermally-heated for sample, whereas the experimental pattern of the films by X-ray diffraction show that diffraction peaks can be assigned to the wurtzite hexagonal-shaped ZnO as shown in the (FE-SEM) images, also the morphology of the films studied by atomic force microscope (AFM) shows that the films have high roughness. The energy gap was estimated and optical behavior was investigated.

  • Hydrothermal doping of Ag into three types of potassium niobates

    摘要: Three types of Ag-doped potassium niobates, a layered K4Nb6O17·nH2O, a pyrochlore-type (K,H)NbO3·nH2O, and a perovskite-type KNbO3, were synthesized via a hydrothermal reaction. The layered-type K4Nb6O17·nH2O was prepared at 240°C using KOH/Nb2O5 = 6; the pyrochlore-type compound was prepared at 220°C using KOH/Nb2O5 = 10; and the orthorhombic perovskite-type compound was prepared at 260°C using KOH/Nb2O5 = 40. Ag ions were intercalated to the interlayer of the layered compound and the tunnel of the pyrochlore-type compound, while Ag metal was loaded on the surface of the perovskite-type compound. The layered- and perovskite-type compounds exhibited photocatalytic activity for phenol degradation under ultraviolet light irradiation; however, the pyrochlore-type compound did not exhibit good photocatalytic activity.

  • Microwave-assisted hydrothermal synthesis of BiOCl/Bi2WO6 nanocomposites for the enhancement of photocatalytic efficiency

    摘要: In this research, BiOCl/Bi2WO6 nanocomposites were successfully synthesized by a microwave-assisted hydrothermal method. Phase, morphology and optical properties of the as-synthesized products were investigated by X-ray powder diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The as-synthesized products were BiOCl/Bi2WO6 nanocomposites composed of Bi2WO6 microflowers mixed with BiOCl nanoplates. The photocatalytic properties of BiOCl/Bi2WO6 nanocomposites were estimated through photodegradation of rhodamine B and salicylic acid as organic models in wastewater. The 80 wt% BiOCl/Bi2WO6 nanocomposites presented the highest photocatalytic efficiency and were certified for the lowest photonic emission by PL analysis. There was a trivial loss of activity even after four re-cycle tests. A mechanism for photocatalysis by BiOCl/Bi2WO6 nanocomposites was also proposed.

  • Significant Enhancement of the Visible Light Photocatalytic Properties in 3D BiFeO3/Graphene Composites

    摘要: Bismuth ferrite (BiFeO3, BFO) submicron cubes and 3D BFO/graphene composite materials were synthesized by a simple hydrothermal process. The crystallization processes of the 3D BFO/graphene composites with different graphene oxide (GO) concentrations were studied for their visible light photocatalytic properties. Compared to the single BFO submicron cubes, 3D BFO/graphene composites have greatly improved photocatalytic activity. A high photocatalytic performance is obtained at a GO concentration of 3 mg/mL, with the degradation rate of methylene blue (MB) dye reaching up to 92% in 140 min. The enhancement of photocatalytic activity can be attributed to the large specific surface area and 3D architecture of 3D composites, which provide more transport paths to effectively improve the separation rate of photo-generated electrons and holes. Therefore, 3D BFO/graphene composites have a broad prospect of application in the field of photocatalysis.
