    摘要: In this paper, a RF optical receiver module applied in the RoF system with 12 GHz bandwidth is presented. To guarantee the lowest reflection loss and insertion loss, we made some optimizations to impedance discontinuities in the system which will cause serious signal integrity (SI) problems. Link simulation was also carried out to ensure that the transmission curve of the module in the DC-12GHz bandwidth was smooth and there was no abrupt change on the basis of single-point impedance matching design. Through the amplifying performance test of electrical signal of the module board, we found that the module can achieve flatter transmission characteristics in the DC-12GHz bandwidth, with high gain and low reflection loss.

  • A fully electronically tunable millimeter wave lab-in-waveguide nano-fluidic sensor

    摘要: In this paper, we report an ultra-sensitive millimeter wave (mm-wave) reflection liquid sensor, which is electronically tunable, non-invasive, and label-free. The reflection liquid sensor is based on the impedance match technique. It is implemented in a rectangular waveguide structure, which makes the interaction between mm-wave and liquid under test (LUT) in a closed environment, forms a nano-fluidic lab-in-waveguide liquid sensor, and isolates the interference of surroundings. The reflection liquid sensor shows high sensitivity to permittivity change of the LUTs. Taking the ethanol-distilled water as benchmark, a more than 62 dB ethanol-distilled water contrast is experimentally achieved. The detection limit is 0.05% ethanol in volumetric concentration with a 4 dB signal difference, which is the best performance of the microwave and mm-wave liquid sensors publicly reported until now. The ultra-sensitive reflection sensor can be used for bio-chemical sensing. The lab-in-waveguide biosensor is also compatible with microfluidics.

  • Tunable triple-band and incident angle-independent absorber based on a cubic media particles stacking structure metamaterial

    摘要: A triple-band incident angle-independent absorber is numerically investigated based on cubic media particles stacking structure metamaterials. The proposed metamaterial absorber shows low absorption performance when the conductivity of VO2 particles is equal to 200 S/m (at room temperature). Most of the electromagnetic wave energy is reflected and lost. When the conductivity of VO2 particles is equal to 105 S/m (the simulated temperature higher than 68o), three absorption peaks are achieved at 5.55THz, 6.24THz, and 6.89THz. These absorption peaks are mainly derived from two mechanisms: ohmic loss and localized surface plasmon (LSP) mode loss. The effect of the refractive index n of medium particles on the resonance property of the metamaterial absorber is also numerically investigated. The absorption performance is enhanced due to the impedance matching condition is achieved. Finally, the proposed metamaterial absorber shows high absorption performance when the incident angle of electromagnetic waves is less than or equal to 60o.

  • Preparation and electromagnetic attenuation properties of MoS2–PANI composites: a promising broadband absorbing material

    摘要: As an ideal electromagnetic (EM) wave absorber, it is prone to possess lightweight, thin matching thickness, broad absorption bandwidth and strong absorption performance. In this work, MoS2–PANI composites were prepared by situ chemical oxidative polymerization method, and the crystal structure, morphology, composition and EM properties were characterized. The microwave absorption properties of MoS2–PANI composites could be tuned by changing the PANI content to reach the best impedance match. The minimum reflection loss (RL) value of MoS2–PANI was ? 40.79 dB at 14.01 GHz with the thickness of 2.0 mm, and the maximum effective absorption bandwidth was 5.02 GHz ranging from 11.88 to 16.90 GHz with a thickness of 2.0 mm. Moreover, the RL value of MoS2–PANI composites could reach under ? 10 dB in a wide frequency range of 4.74–18 GHz with a thickness of 1.5–4.5 mm. In particular, the 3 mm wave attenuation properties of MoS2–PANI composites were investigated for the first time, and the maximum attenuation value reached 15.45 dB. As a result, MoS2–PANI composites are promising to be excellent EM wave absorption materials in broadband.

  • Broadband Circularly Polarized Filtering Antennas

    摘要: This paper consists of two parts. The first part presents a review of the recent development in broadband circularly polarized filtering antennas. The second part presents a novel design of broadband integrated filtering antenna based on eighth-mode SIW (EMSIW) resonators for rectenna applications. This work has three main novel contributions: (i) By adjusting the external quality factors and coupling coefficients of the resonators in this filtering antenna, optimum input impedance with a complex value can be realized within the filtering antenna. Thus there is no need for an external impedance matching network, which is usually required between the antenna and the rectifying circuits; (ii) Compared with traditional microstrip resonators, high-Q EMSIW cavities are used to increase antenna gain; (iii) The coupling gap between the EMSIW resonators also acts as the feeding structure of the radiator. So the feeding structures are all on the middle layer. The ground plane on the back side is a complete structure without any defects. This novel structure design improves front-to-back ratio to enhance the antenna receiving efficiency. To validate this method, two C-band circularly polarized integrated filtering antennas with an input impedance of 50 Ω and complex impedance are designed, simulated and fabricated. The measured results show that the operating frequency bandwidth of the proposed antennas is more than 14.5% at C band with the gain above 8 dBi. The 3 dB Axial Ratio (AR) bandwidth is larger than 8.5% and the front-to-back ratio is higher than 18 dB. Moreover, the proposed antenna with complex impedance is conjugate matched with the input impedance of a specific rectifying circuit at 5.8 GHz and harmonics suppression at the 2nd harmonic frequency is achieved.
