Comparative Study on Solar Powered Interleaved Boost Converter
摘要: Solar energy is an important source of renewable energy. But, it is unpleasant that, only partial amount of energy can be extracted from the Solar cells by our conventional DC-DC Boost converters. A comparative study on solar powered Interleaving Boost converters (ILBCs) is initiated. A novel Solar powered, Series-Inductor ILBC with less current ripple than the conventional ILBC is proposed. A comparative study on single- stage, two-stage and three-stage ILBCs are done. The comparison of ripple reduction of output voltage is tried with ‘C’, ‘Pi’ and Cascade Filters. The results have been applied to R-Load and motor load. The input of 150V is fed to the ILBC from the solar cell and compared for the ripple. The proposed solar powered series inductor ILBC has reduced ripple than the conventional ILBCs. Comparison table of performance and simulation results of these aforementioned solar powered ILBCs have been exhibited in this paper.

摘要: A photovoltaic array based system using a transformer-less high gain interleaved dc–dc boost converter is proposed in this paper. The renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic array and fuel cells provide only a time-varying and low dc voltage which cannot be directly used as the front-end for the loads or dc grid. Hence, there is a need for power electronic interfaces for matching the environmental-friendly sources of energy to the load. The interleaved converter used in the proposed system has the capability of canceling the input current ripple without increasing the component counts in the converter using a preselected duty cycle. Also, the large voltage gain and high ef?ciency of the converter are the added advantages to the proposed system. Analysis, simulation, and experimental investigation of the system proposed were carried out and the results are compared to validate the proposed system effectiveness.

A Multi-Phase Switched-Capacitor Converter for Fully Integrated AMLED Micro Display System
摘要: A fully-integrated switched-capacitor (SC) DC-DC converter is designed for powering up an active-matrix light-emitting diode (AMLED) micro-display system. Stacking-transistor technique with three voltage conversion ratios is utilized to handle the lithium-ion battery range of 2.6 V to 4.2 V and to reduce the switching loss. A 101-phase interleaving scheme is adopted such that (1) output voltage ripple ΔVO is significantly reduced; (2) no external output capacitor is needed; and (3) SC power-cells are physically cascaded to encircle the LED array and drivers to reduce conduction loss. Two test chips were designed in 0.18 μm 1P6M CMOS technology. The first chip is a test chip consisted of the SC converter only. The output voltage is 4.2V and the measured maximum ΔVO is 52 mV. The measured power density is 74.4 mW/mm2, peak efficiency is 81%, and maximum output power is 258 mW. The second chip is a system chip integrating the SC converter with the AMLED array and drivers using flip-chip packaging. The converter delivers a maximum power of 216 mW with a 78% peak efficiency in the SC mode and a 91% peak efficiency in the linear regulator mode.

Suppression of Dick Effect in Ramsey-CPT Atomic Clock by Interleaving Lock
摘要: The Dick effect is one of the main limitations of short-term frequency stability for most atomic clocks operating in the pulsed mode. Rather than employing better local oscillators with ultralow phase noise, using the interleaving lock technique to eliminate the dead time is a promising approach to suppress the Dick effect. In this paper, we demonstrate the suppression of the Dick effect by the interleaving lock technique in a pulsed Ramsey-coherent population trapping clock with two identical Cs atomic ensembles. The Dick effect is expected to be reduced by a factor of 24 theoretically. The measured short-term Allan deviation is improved from 1.3×10?11 at 1 s to 3.0×10?12 at 1 s. What is even more remarkable is that the Allan deviation curve exhibits 1/τ slope from 0.01 to 2 s.
