  • Power Quality Improvement Utilizing PV Fed Unified Power Quality Conditioner Based on UV-PI and PR-R Controller

    摘要: This paper presents control and configuration of photovoltaic fed unified power quality conditioner for the purpose of power quality enhancement. Literature studies convey that fixed PI gains used in the control schemes of Unified Power Quality Conditioners (UPQC) and PV-UPQC cannot easily adapt to various dynamic conditions. In this paper a novel online tunings method for PI control gains is adopted in the controllers of series and shunt converters of PV-UPQC. Unlike the previously implemented JAYA algorithm which has a single objective function utilized in the controller of DSTATCOM for improvement of only current quality, the new adaptive JAYA algorithm has two separate objective function, employed in shunt and series inverter control of PV-UPQC system for improvement of both current and voltage quality under various operational scenarios for power quality issues. The experimental results verify that implementation of JAYA based auto tuning PI controller increases the adaptivity of PV-UPQC system towards various dynamic conditions. Results obtained are compared with conventional optimization algorithms with fixed PI gains pertaining to a distribution system for validating its efficacy.

  • Performance comparison of recent optimization algorithm Jaya with particle swarm optimization for digital image watermarking in complex wavelet domain

    摘要: Nowadays copyright protection is mandatory in the field of image processing to removes the illegitimate utilization and imitation of digital images. The digital image watermarking is one of the most reliable methods for protecting the illegal validation of data. In this paper, singular value decomposition based digital image watermarking scheme is proposed in complex wavelet transform (CWT) domain using intelligence algorithms like particle swarm optimization (PSO) and recently proposed Jaya algorithm. The watermark image is embedded into high frequency CWT subband of cover image. At the time of watermark embedding and extraction, optimization algorithms Jaya and PSO are applied to improve the robustness and imperceptibility by assessing the fitness function. The perceptual quality of watermarked image and robustness of extracted watermark image are verified under the filtering, rotation, scaling, Gaussian noise and JPEG compression attacks. From the comparative analysis it is proved that Jaya algorithm is better as compared to PSO algorithm under most types of attacks with higher magnitudes whereas identical under the lower magnitude of applied attacks. Moreover, using variety of cover images, it is found that, the elapse time and value of fitness function given by Jaya algorithm are also better as compared to PSO.

  • An Analytical Approach to study Annealing Induced Interdiffusion of In and Ga for Truncated Pyramidal InAs/GaAs Quantum Dots

    摘要: The brain–computer interface (BCI) identi?es brain patterns to translate thoughts into action. The identi?cation relies on the performance of the classi?er. In this paper, identi?cation and monitoring of electroencephalogram-based BCI for motor imagery (MI) task is proposed by an ef?cient adaptive neuro-fuzzy classi?er (NFC). The Jaya optimization algorithm is integrated with adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems to enhance classi?cation accuracy. The linguistic hedge (LH) is used for proper elicitation and pruning of the fuzzy rules and network is trained using scaled conjugate gradient (SCG) and speeding up SCG (SSCG) techniques. In this paper, Jaya-based k-means is applied to divide the feature set into two mutually exclusive clusters and ?re the fuzzy rule. The performance of the proposed classi?er, Jaya-based NFC using SSCG as training algorithm and is powered by LH (JayaNFCSSCGLH), is compared with four different NFCs for classifying two class MI-based tasks. We observed a shortening of computation time per iteration by 57.78% in the case of SSCG as compared with the SCG technique of training. LH-based feature selecting capability of the proposed classi?er not only reduces computation time but also improves the accuracy by discarding irrelevant features. Lesser computation time with fast convergence and high accuracy among considered NFCs make it a suitable choice for the real-time application. Supremacy of JayaNFCSSCGLH among the considered classi?er is validated through Friedman test. Classi?cation result is used to control switching of light emitting diode, turning thoughts into action.

  • A performance-guided JAYA algorithm for parameters identification of photovoltaic cell and module

    摘要: In order to carry out the evaluation, control and maximum power point tracking on photovoltaic (PV) systems, accurate and reliable model parameter identification of PV cell and module is always desired. In this study, a performance-guided JAYA (PGJAYA) algorithm is proposed for extracting parameters of different PV models. In proposed PGJAYA algorithm, the individual performance in the whole population is quantified through probability. Then, based on probability, each individual can self-adaptively select different evolution strategies designed for balancing exploration and exploitation abilities to conduct the searching process. Meanwhile, the quantified performance is employed to select the exemplar to construct the promising searching direction. In addition, a self-adaptive chaotic perturbation mechanism is introduced around the current best solution to explore more better solution for replacing the worst one, thus improving the quality of whole population. The parameters estimation performance of PGJAYA is evaluated through three widely used standard datasets of different PV models including single diode, double diode, and PV module. Comparative and statistical results demonstrate that PGJAYA has a superior performance as it always obtains the most accurate parameters with strong robustness among all compared algorithms. Furthermore, the tests based on experimental data from the data sheet of different types of PV modules suggest that the proposed algorithm can achieve superior results at different irradiance and temperature. Based on these superiorities, it is concluded that PGJAYA is a promising parameter identification method for PV cell and module model.

  • Restoration of stable voltage in an isolated hybrid solar power system with combined JAYA-DE algorithm

    摘要: This work discusses the implementation of JAYA-DE algorithm with Static Var Compensator for optimum voltage control through Reactive Power compensation inside solar based hybrid power system.The stability aspect of isolated solar based hybrid power system is enhanced through compensation of the reactive power by optimized SVC and are further analyzed with different stability criterion. The dynamic performance of the new hybrid technique under intermittent wind power input and variable load show superiority over the conventional control methods.
