  • Pulse-diode-intermittent-pumped 2-μm acousto-optically Q-switched Tm:YAG laser

    摘要: An innovative pulse-diode-intermittent-pumped 2-micron acousto-optically Q-switched Tm:YAG laser is presented for the first time, which can improve the output energy, while ensuring the operation repetition of laser. Maximum output energy of 6.83 mJ and minimum pulse width of 367.7 ns at Q-switched repetition rate of 200 Hz is obtained at pump energy of 86.2 mJ. The output wavelength is 2014.9 nm. The beam quality factor Mx2 is 1.59. The stability is larger than 98%.

  • Direct oscillation at 640-nm in single longitudinal mode with a diode-pumped Pr:YLF solid-state laser

    摘要: A diode-pumped solid-state laser directly emitting continuous-wave (cw), single-longitudinal mode (SLM) output at 640-nm with a c-cut praseodymium-doped yttrium lithium fluoride (Pr:YLF) crystal was demonstrated for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. Combining two quarter-wave plates (QWPs) and one Brewster plate to form a twisted-mode cavity, this SLM solid-state laser achieved a maximum cw output power of 403 mW with a threshold of 600 mW and a slope efficiency of 26.8%. The emission spectrum had a linewidth of 150 MHz. The single-mode beam quality (M2) was 1.10 and 1.07 along the x and y direction, respectively.

  • Tungsten disulfide saturable absorber for passively Q-Switched YVO4/Nd:YVO4/YVO4 laser at 1342.2 nm

    摘要: By using both tungsten disul?de saturable absorber (WS2-SA) and YVO4/Nd:YVO4(0.3 at.%)/YVO4 crystal, a passively Q-switched laser centered at 1342.2 nm is ?rst reported. Stable Q-switched pulses can be obtained. At the pump power of 12 W, a shortest pulse width of 550 ns and a pulse repetition rate of 97 kHz can be observed by a digital oscilloscope, corresponding to maximum pulse energy of 5.55 μJ and pulse peak power of 10.1 W. The results promote the promising applications of WS2-SA in all-solid-state laser at 1.3 μm.

  • Narrow no-gain competition linewidth dual-wavelength laser at 912?nm and 1064 nm

    摘要: A narrow linewidth, no-gain competition, 912 nm quasi-three level and 1064 nm four-level dual-wavelength laser is presented for the first time. This system consists of an intra-cavity pumped Nd:YVO4 laser emitting at 1064 nm, using a 912 nm Nd:GdVO4 laser. A Fabry-Perot etalon is used to compress the linewidth located at the common parts of the 912 nm and 1064 nm laser resonators. When the etalon, with an angle of refraction of 15°, was introduced into the cavity, the narrow linewidth dual-wavelength laser was obtained. The corresponding minimum linewidths were 0.284 nm and 0.627 nm.

  • Construction of 879?nm direct intra-cavity pumped dual-wavelength laser operating at 912?nm and 1064?nm

    摘要: A dual-wavelength continuous-wave laser with direct intra-cavity pumping using a 879 nm laser diode that utilizes Nd:GdVO4 and Nd:YVO4 crystals, is presented. To the best of our knowledge, this system completely eliminates the gain competition between the 912 nm and 1064 nm transitions for the first time. A theoretical model is introduced to describe this intra-cavity pumped dual-wavelength laser. The lasing threshold of the 912 nm Nd:GdVO4 laser is presented by considering the ground-state reabsorption loss effect. A total output power of 1.33 W at dual-wavelength operation with an absorbed pump power of 7.91 W is experimentally achieved. The individual output power for the 912 nm and 1064 nm emissions were 0.43 W and 0.9 W, respectively. Both wavelengths operate in TEM00 mode with a total slope efficiency > 20%.

  • Dual-wavelength passively mode-locked Yb-doped fiber laser based on a $\text{SnSe}_2$-PVA saturable absorber

    摘要: In this paper, tin diselenide (SnSe2) was successfully prepared with liquid phase exfoliation method and embedded into polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a saturable absorber (SA) in a dual-wavelength passively mode-locked Yb-doped fiber laser. Stable mode-locked pulses with a maximum average output power of 2.55 mW and a slope efficiency of 1.3% at the fundamental repetition rate of 333 kHz were achieved. By properly adjusting polarization state, four kinds of dual-wavelength fundamental frequency mode-locked pulses with peak wavelength intervals of 0.4, 1.0, 1.5 and 1.9 nm were obtained, and corresponding waveforms with different single pulse shapes were investigated in our work. A maximum signal to noise ratio (SNR) of 71.04 dB indicates that SnSe2 is promising to serve as SA in passively mode-locked fiber lasers.

  • High-Power Continuous-Wave and Acousto-Optical Q-Switched Ho:(Sc <sub/>0.5</sub> Y <sub/>0.5</sub> ) <sub/>2</sub> SiO <sub/>5</sub> Laser Pumped by Laser Diode

    摘要: We experimentally investigate the continuous-wave (cw) and acousto-optical (AO) Q-switched performance of a diode-pumped Ho:(Sc0.5Y0.5)2SiO5 (Ho:SYSO) laser. A fiber-coupled laser diode at 1.91 ??m is employed as the pump source. The cw Ho:SYSO laser produces 13.0 W output power at 2097.9 nm and 56.0% slope efficiency with respect to the absorbed pump power. In the AO Q-switched regime, at a pulse repetition frequency of 5 kHz, the Ho:SYSO laser yields 2.1 mJ pulse energy and 21 ns pulse width, resulting in a calculated peak power of 100 kW. In addition, at the maximum output level, the beam quality factor of the Q-switched Ho:SYSO laser is measured to be about 1.6.

  • PV-pumped energy storage option for convalescing performance of hydroelectric station under declining precipitation trend

    摘要: The precipitation trend is critically important for functioning of hydroelectric power stations and development of irrigation sector. Studies indicate that freshwater availability in many river basins in India is likely to decrease due to climate change. Despite having promising hydro potential in north-eastern (N-E) region of India, decline in rainfall in the region causes paucity of water in various hydro power plants' reservoirs. Many units of hydroelectric projects are being kept off and as a result, generation comes down to a large extent. As a partial solution to the problem, many such small hydroelectric projects' may be revived by integrating solar photovoltaic (PV) powered pumped storage unit as there is synergy of solar energy with irrigation water pumping and hydro power station. The present study aims to looking at reliable, continuous and cost-competitive power supply option. The study has been conceived with the lone hydroelectric power station of Tripura (one of the N-E states of India) which practically remains inoperative as water is hardly available at the end of the year and before next monsoon. Results substantiate that PV powered pumped storage is a viable option for restoring the steady annual performance of the hydroelectric plant.

    摘要: 3at.%Tm3+:Ca1?xGdxF2+x (x = 0, 0.005, 0.01, 0.02) single crystals were grown by the vertical Bridgman method, where Gd3+ ions play the role of manipulating ions for local structure to form a disordered lattice site. Spectral properties of these crystals were investigated. Compared to 3at.%Tm3+:CaF2, the spectral parameters of 3at.%Tm3+:Ca1?xGdxF2+x were drastically enhanced in a large scale. LD pumped lasers have been demonstrated in the crystals for the first time. For CW operation, the slope efficiency up to 49.7% was achieved with output power of 1.927 W at 1970 nm. With a birefringent quartz plate, wavelength-tunable laser operation with a tuning range of more than 176 nm was realized.

  • Enhanced near-infrared emission in Yb3+-Cr3+ codoped KZnF3 glass ceramics excited by a solar simulator

    摘要: Cr3+-Yb3+ codoped bulk glass-ceramics containing KZnF3 nanocrystals are fabricated by thermal treatment of cast glass samples and characterized by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The luminescent properties of the glass and glass ceramic are investigated from the measured photoluminescence spectra and fluorescent lifetime. The measurement results demonstrate that Cr3+ and Yb3+ ions are both predominantly hosted in the KZnF3 nanocrystals, and the energy absorbed by Cr3+ ions is efficiently transferred to Yb3+ ions when excited at 450 nm. Compared to the glass, the near-infrared emission in the Cr3+-Yb3+ codoped glass ceramics is significantly enhanced when the excitation wavelength lies in the range λ~400–800 nm of a solar simulator. Results indicate that the Cr3+-Yb3+ codoped KZnF3 glass ceramic provides a promising material for spectral conversion from visible sunlight to near-infrared emission and a novel gain material for solar pumped fiber laser.
