The feasibility of electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopic localization with fluorescence and radiocontrast dyes for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery resection
摘要: Recently, some groups have reported the utilization of electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy (ENB) for localization of pulmonary lesion. Its application for intraoperative visual localization with dyes to determine the target area has been increasing. In this paper, we reviewed the feasibility of ENB utilization for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) or robotic sublobar resection as a localization tool, and its future application in minimally invasive thoracic surgery.

Thermal Localization Enhanced Fast Photothermoelectric Response in a Quasi-one-dimensional Flexible NbS <sub/>3</sub> Photodetector
摘要: Ultra-broadband photodetection is crucial for various applications like imaging and sensing, and has become a hot research topic in recent years. However, most of the reported ultra-broadband photodetectors can only cover the range from ultraviolet to infrared, which is insufficient. Herein, a photothermoelectric (PTE) detector made of NbS3 is reported. The device shows a considerable performance from ultraviolet to terahertz. For all examined wavelengths, the photoresponsivities are all larger than 1 VW-1 while the response time is less than 10 ms, much shorter than the reported ultra-broadband photodetectors made of millimetric scale graphene, ternary chalcogenide single crystal and other materials. The extraordinary performance is fully discussed and can be attributed to the thermal localization enhanced PTE effect. Due to the short thermal decay length and low thermal loss, the heat generated by the illumination is localized in only a micrometer scale along the channel and thus a strong PTE response is produced. In addition, the fabricated device also demonstrates robust flexibility and stability. Thanks to the quasi-one-dimensional structure, the NbS3 crystal is easy to be scaled down and thus intrinsically facilitate the integration of detectors. With these favorable merits, the quasi-one-dimensional NbS3 crystal holds promising potential in high-performance, ultra-broadband photodectors.

摘要: In this letter, a new single-anchor indoor localization concept employing electronically steerable parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) antenna has been proposed. The new concept uses a simple ?ngerprinting algorithm adopted to work with directional main beam and narrow minimum radiation patterns of ESPAR antenna that scans 360 area around the base station, while the signal strength received from a mobile terminal is being recorded for each con?guration. The letter describes the antenna design and necessary ?ngerprinting algorithm expansion and shows measurements of the proof-of-concept prototype performed within the experimental setup. Localization results obtained from indoor measurements indicate that the proposed concept can provide better results than the similar approach based on a switched-beam antenna introduced by Giorgetti et al. (IEEE Commun. Lett., vol. 13, no. 1, pp. 58–60, Jan. 2009).

摘要: We propose a sampling scheme that can perfectly reconstruct a collection of spikes on the sphere from samples of their lowpass-filtered observations. Central to our algorithm is a generalization of the annihilating filter method, a tool widely used in array signal processing and finite-rate-of-innovation (FRI) sampling. The proposed algorithm can reconstruct spatial samples. For large , this sampling requirement improves over previously known FRI sampling schemes on the sphere by a factor of four. We showcase the versatility of the proposed algorithm by applying it to three problems: 1) sampling diffusion processes induced by localized sources on the sphere, 2) shot noise removal, and 3) sound source localization (SSL) by a spherical microphone array. In particular, we show how SSL can be reformulated as a spherical sparse sampling problem.

摘要: We introduce a distributed cooperative framework and method for Bayesian estimation and control in decentralized agent networks. Our framework combines joint estimation of time-varying global and local states with information-seeking control optimizing the behavior of the agents. It is suited to nonlinear and non-Gaussian problems and, in particular, to location-aware networks. For cooperative estimation, a combination of belief propagation message passing and consensus is used. For cooperative control, the negative posterior joint entropy of all states is maximized via a gradient ascent. The estimation layer provides the control layer with probabilistic information in the form of sample representations of probability distributions. Simulation results demonstrate intelligent behavior of the agents and excellent estimation performance for a simultaneous self-localization and target tracking problem. In a cooperative localization scenario with only one anchor, mobile agents can localize themselves after a short time with an accuracy that is higher than the accuracy of the performed distance measurements.

摘要: This paper examines performance bounds for the 2-D spatial localization (i.e., latitude and longitude) of a receiver in a shallow water environment using waveguide invariant (WI)-based estimates of the time-varying range to a source of opportunity (SOO). The time-varying position, or track, of the SOO is assumed known, and the source range estimates, which can be obtained from processing striations in the time-frequency spectrum of the measured acoustic pressure, are modeled as Gaussian random variables. Two nonlinear least squares (NLLS)-based localization methods are compared: the first method, based on prior work by the authors, applies uniform weighting to each of the range estimates and is shown to be sub-optimal, while the second method incorporates inverse-covariance weighting and achieves the Cramér-Rao lower bound (CRLB). A specific application for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) is presented in which a submerged AUV operating near a coastal shipping lane attempts to localize itself using the acoustic emissions from nearby, transiting surface vessels that broadcast their position in real time via the automatic identification system (AIS). Sensitivity of the CRLB to source and receiver motion is investigated. Simulation results indicate the potential for WI-based localization methods to achieve errors of less than 100 m for AUVs operating in proximity to shipping lanes.

Leak monitoring and localization in baghouse filtration system using a distributed optical fiber dynamic air pressure sensor
摘要: Coherent Rayleigh backscattering noise produced by the detection of the dynamic air?ow applied to a standard optical ?ber is proposed to monitor and locate the potential broken fabric bags within a baghouse ?ltration system with a sensing distance of 2 km. The optical ?ber cable hangs freely inside the fabric bags with small leak holes. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed distributed optical air pressure sensor is capable of identifying broken bags via the measurement of air?ow perturbation applied onto the optical ?ber cable. Field test at a baghouse ?ltration test platform was conducted and results showed that the location accuracy of the system is less than ± 5 m with a detectable hole diameter of 0.3 cm and a recognition rate of ~87.6% measured by Adaboost-Support Vector Machine (ADA-SVM) method. A false alarm rate of 9% for this particular leak diameter is achieved.

摘要: In recent years, smart devices have become ubiquitous. Many of these devices are equipped with global positioning system (GPS), Wi-Fi, and other sensors. With their high mobility, the idea of mobile devices as probes has been attracting more and more attention. Mobility and ?exibility offered by smart mobile devices are what traditional ?xed sensors lack. However, mobile devices’ power supplies are quite limited. Although GPS is accurate, its high power consumption somewhat limits its accessibility and sustainability. In contrast, Wi-Fi is less power hungry, but at the same time, less accurate. For the sake of sustainability, by adopting Wi-Fi as an alternative to GPS, longer operation is attainable at the cost of losing some degree of accuracy. In this paper, a Wi-Fi-based algorithm based on log-normal probability distribution of distances with respect to received signal strength is proposed. It is suitable for an outdoor environment, where Wi-Fi access points (APs) are abundant. Simulations are conducted over known AP locations, and results show that the proposed algorithm can save, on average, as much as 35% more battery power than GPS does. The average localization error is ~18 m, and the average velocity estimation error is ~25%.

摘要: Underwater wireless optical communications are an emerging solution to the expanding demand for broadband links in oceans and seas. In this paper, a cellular underwater wireless optical code division multiple-access network is proposed to provide broadband links for commercial and military applications. The optical orthogonal codes are employed as signature codes of underwater mobile users. Fundamental key aspects of the network, such as its backhaul architecture, its potential applications, and its design challenges, are presented. In particular, a promising underwater localization and positioning scheme based on this cellular network is presented. Furthermore, the proposed network is used as infrastructure of centralized, decentralized and relay-assisted underwater sensor networks for high-speed real-time monitoring. Finally, probable design challenges, such as cell edge coverage, blockage avoidance, power control, and network capacity, are addressed.
