  • Optimization and Comparison between the efficiency of GaNAsSb and GaInNAs single solar cells deposed on GaAs

    摘要: In this work we study and optimize the single solar cell efficiency of GaNxAs1-x-ySby and Ga1-xInxNyAs1-y deposed on GaAs. The solar cells are simulated, in the aim to find the best concentration of nitrogen and antimony for GaNxAs1-x-ySby, and indium and nitrogen for Ga1-xInxNyAs1-y which gives us a band gap energy around 1 eV with a low strain and a maximum absorption, in fact we do not have only one value but a whole interval for both structures. In the second step we simulate the efficiency of both GaNAsSb and GaInNAs solar cells with the find concentration values in order to see which of the two structures will give a higher efficiency. We noticed that the results were obtained under AM1.5 illumination, 300 K and an ambient pressure. The two structures had a thickness of 300 nm. The N and P layers have a doping level of 1.1015 cm-3 and 1.1016 cm-3 respectively. This study gives us the possibility to produce multi-function solar cells.

  • Parallels and Interrelated Regularities in the Change of the Bulk and Surface Properties of CdBVI–CdTe Systems

    摘要: Comprehensive studies of the volume (structural, optical, electrophysical) and surface (acid-base, adsorption) properties of solid solutions and binary components of the CdS–CdTe and CdSe–CdTe systems are carried out. The regularities in the changes of these properties with a variation in the composition and the parallels between the patterns within each system and under their comparison are established. The leading influence of the common binary component, cadmium telluride, on the properties of solid solutions of both systems is revealed. The possibility of predicting the surface activity of these new materials with respect to gases of different electronic natures is shown on the basis of the results of less labor-intensive studies of the bulk physical and chemical properties (in comparison with direct studies of the surface characteristics, i.e., acid-base and adsorption characteristics). Practical recommendations on using the obtained materials in corresponding sensors are made.

    摘要: The most important problems of our age are the search of new energy sources and the ways to decrease the pollution from organic fuels. Solar energy could provide a partial solution to the problem. If luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs) will be applied to the existing and modern buildings a part of the problem could be solved. In the following I describe the principle of LSCs and the ways by which their efficiency can be achieved.
