    摘要: Selective laser melting (SLM) can be used to manufacture functional metal parts with complex geometries that cannot be produced by traditional manufacturing methods. However, SLM process control cannot yet guarantee the end part quality required for critical applications. The application of model-based control strategies to SLM is complicated by both the closed architecture of industrial SLM machines and the lack of suitable control-oriented process models. In this paper we (1) present an open-source SLM printer that allows implementation of the on-the-fly power adjustment and (2) use a data-driven method, iterative learning control (ILC) to learn the suitable laser power profile using the melt pool emission measurements from a coaxial camera. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed ILC approach through experiments on the open-source SLM machine.

  • On-line Monitoring System Based on Open Source Platform for Photovoltaic Array

    摘要: To evaluate the performance of photovoltaic (PV) power plants, it is necessary to effectively monitor PV power plants. An on-line monitoring system based on open-source platform is presented for monitoring and managing the PV power plant effectively and economically. The proposed monitoring system consists of data acquisition, transmission part, data gateway, and on-line monitoring center. A PV diagnosis approach based on FFA-SVM for array fault is implemented in the gateway. The on-line monitoring center based on the platform ubidots is designed for displaying the data and monitoring PV arrays. Experiment results show that the system can realize abundant data visualization and accurate PV fault diagnosis.

    摘要: Open-source operating system, as well as its packages, is more powerful and secure than the proprietary sources. In the proprietary source, software source code is not easily available because it is secret; by contrast in the open-source operating system source code is easily available, so any programmer can change the code and implement their ideas and modify it because of its openness. Also, one major advantage is that we do not need to spend a huge amount of money on the software. So, in this paper, we used open-source software for coding purposes and looked at the data available on the UCI machine learning repository on the diabetic retinopathy.

  • Open-source sensor for measuring oxygen partial pressures below 100 microbars

    摘要: The ability to measure partial pressures of oxygen below 100 microbars and nanomolar dissolved oxygen concentrations in in situ laboratory systems benefits many fields including microbiology, geobiology, oceanography, chemistry, and materials science. Here, we present an easily constructible open-source design for a networked luminescence lifetime measurement system for in situ measurements in arbitrary laboratory containers. The system is well suited for measuring oxygen partial pressures in the 0–100 μbar range, with the maximum potentially usable upper range limit at around 10 mbar, depending on experimental conditions. The sensor has a limited drift and its detectability limit for oxygen is at 0.02 μbar for short timescale measurements. Each sensor can connect to a Wi-Fi network and send the logged data either over the Internet or to a local server, enabling a large number of parallel unattended experiments. Designs are also provided for attaching the sensor to various commercially available containers used in laboratories. The design files are released under an open source license, which enables other laboratories to build, customize, and use these sensors.

  • FluxTracer - A Ray Tracer Post-Processor to Assist in the Design and Optimization of Solar Concentrators and Receivers

    摘要: This paper presents FluxTracer, an advanced open source computer tools to assist in the analysis, design and optimization of solar concentrators and receivers. FluxTracer is a post-processor for Monte Carlo ray tracers used to simulate the optical behavior of solar concentrating systems. By post-processing the rays generated by the ray tracer, FluxTracer can partition into volumetric pixels (voxels) a region of interest in three-dimensional space defined by the user and compute for each voxel the radiant power density of the concentrated solar radiation. Depending upon the set of rays provided by the ray tracer, it may be able to integrate the radiant power density in every voxel over time. The radiant energy density analysis described is just one of the analysis that FluxTracer can carry out on the set of rays generated by the ray tracer. This article presents the main analyses that FluxTracer can provide. It also presents examples of how the information provided by FluxTracer can be used to assist in the analysis, design and optimization of solar concentrators and receivers. FluxTracer is the first of a series of components of an open-source computational framework for the analysis, design and optimization of solar concentrators and receiver, being developed by The Cyprus Institute (CYI) and the Australian National University (ANU).

  • Development of LiDAR Database Management System using Open Source Software

    摘要: This study is focused on the development of a LiDAR database management system for the Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEM) to facilitate user authentication, retrieval of LiDAR datasets, storage, scheduling of LiDAR flight sessions and generation of new data products. Additionally, the design goal of the data management system is to support managers-vendors relationship, as well as new data generation out of the results. In this study, we described the structure development of LiDAR database management system and how the system collaborated with data production and data acquisition. The architecture of such application in WebGIS, providing map interactivity in displaying a simple dataset of LiDAR data by using Open Layers integration via GeoJSON format as the spatial data were used to show the implementation of such feature. We also used the Open Source Software (OSS) in the development of the LiDAR Database Management System for JUPEM. This was because many countries, especially in the public sector, were slowly transferring from using proprietary software to OSS.

  • All the light that we can see: a new era in miniaturized microscopy

    摘要: One major challenge in neuroscience is to uncover how defined neural circuits in the brain encode, store, modify, and retrieve information. Meeting this challenge comprehensively requires tools capable of recording and manipulating the activity of intact neural networks in naturally behaving animals. Head-mounted miniature microscopes are emerging as a key tool to address this challenge. Here we discuss recent work leading to the miniaturization of neural imaging tools, the current state of the art in this field, and the importance and necessity of open-source options. We finish with a discussion on what the future may hold for miniature microscopy.
