摘要: In order to ensure efficient monitoring of solar plants, aerial video inspection using drones is unavoidable. The usually encountered problem is the shadow caused by drone on solar panels which may cause a false image interpretation. In this paper, we propose a technique of live shadow detection in video frames based on Otsu thresholding algorithm. To avoid Shaded Frames, the supervisor can automatically detect shaded captured frames of solar panels then acquire frames of the same area from another drone position with corrected angle of view of camera.

摘要: In this project, the data set generated from the data of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) derived from DICOM-formatted lung cancer data has been converted to PNG format to make it suitable for the operation of image processing algorithms. The converted data is filtered by a second-order median filter to prevent noise. A laplacian filter was applied to clarify the boundaries of the candidate nodules. The threshold must be determined according to the histogram value of each view. To select a different threshold for each image was subjected to the determination threshold Otsu method. In Otsu threshold selection method determines the point at which the minimum-class variance and between-class variance is a maximum, and determines the the availability of candidate nodules, nodule diameter is intended for detection of the large nodules than 2 mm. To meet this requirement, the Otsu thresholding method was applied on the MATLAB platform to sieve nodules smaller than 2 mm in diameter and candidate nodules were detected. By determining the morphological characteristics of the identified candidate nodules in MATLAB platform, candidate nodule; Major features such as area, major axis length, minor axis length, and perimeters are extracted. The boundaries of the identified candidate nodules are bounded by the edge detection algorithm and numerically ordered.

An Improved Fuzzy Connectedness Method for Automatic Three-Dimensional Liver Vessel Segmentation in CT Images
摘要: In this paper, an improved fuzzy connectedness (FC) method was proposed for automatic three-dimensional (3D) liver vessel segmentation in computed tomography (CT) images. The vessel-enhanced image (i.e., vesselness image) was incorporated into the fuzzy a?nity function of FC, rather than the intensity image used by traditional FC. An improved vesselness ?lter was proposed by incorporating adaptive sigmoid ?ltering and a background-suppressing item. The fuzzy scene of FC was automatically initialized by using the Otsu segmentation algorithm and one single seed generated adaptively, while traditional FC required multiple seeds. The improved FC method was evaluated on 40 cases of clinical CT volumetric images from the 3Dircadb (n ? 20) and Sliver07 (n ? 20) datasets. Experimental results showed that the proposed liver vessel segmentation strategy could achieve better segmentation performance than traditional FC, region growing, and threshold level set. Average accuracy, sensitivity, speci?city, and Dice coe?cient of the improved FC method were, respectively, (96.4 ± 1.1)%, (73.7 ± 7.6)%, (97.4 ± 1.3)%, and (67.3 ± 5.7)% for the 3Dircadb dataset and (96.8 ± 0.6)%, (89.1 ± 6.8)%, (97.6 ± 1.1)%, and (71.4 ± 7.6)% for the Sliver07 dataset. It was concluded that the improved FC may be used as a new method for automatic 3D segmentation of liver vessel from CT images.

摘要: Large amounts of crops are destroyed every year due to pests. Pest detection and identification is needed to ensure good productivity in agricultural crops. Early detection of pests in images is very crucial for effective management of pest control. Therefore, identifying the pest in the image has been a challenging task. In this paper, we use colour based image segmentation method to efficiently detect the pest. The extensive simulation results on various pest images show that the proposed method outperforms the existing Otsu’s method and edge detection segmentation.

Segmentation of Rice Seedlings Using the YCrCb Color Space and an Improved Otsu Method
摘要: Rice seedling segmentation is a fundamental process of extracting the guidance line for automated rice transplanters with a visual navigation system, which can provide crop row information to ensure the transplanter plants seedlings along the crop row without damaging seedlings. However, obtaining accurate rice seedling segmentation in paddy fields is still a challenging task. In this paper, a rice seedling segmentation method in paddy fields is proposed. The method mainly consists of two steps: image graying and threshold segmentation. In the procedure of image graying, the RGB (Red Green Blue) seedling image is first converted into the YCrCb color space and a Cg component is constructed. A color-index 2Cg-Cb-Cr is then constructed for image graying based on the excess green index (2G-R-B), which can reduce the influence of illumination variation on the equality of image graying. For the second step, an improved Otsu method is proposed to segment rice seedlings. With respect to the improved Otsu method in this research, the background variance of within class variance is weighted by a probability parameter to ensure that the method works well for both bimodal and near-unimodal histogram images, and the search range of gray levels is constrained to reduce the time to search the segmentation threshold. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method achieves better segmentation results and reduces the computational cost compared with the traditional Otsu method and other improved Otsu methods.

摘要: Breast malignancy is one of dangerous illness among the women community and premature detection may facilitate to diminish/eliminate breast cancer. Digital Mammogram (DM) is a commonly approved imaging scheme to record and scrutinize the breast cancer. This paper implements a novel hybrid approach based on the combination Otsu’s multi-thresholding and Water Shed Segmentation (WSS) to mine the suspicious sections from the DM. Initially, the multi-level thresholding using the Bat Algorithm (BA) driven Otsu with a bi-, tri- and four-level thresholding is implemented to pre-process the DM. Afterward, a marker controlled WSS is implemented to mine the infected division of DM. The mined section is then evaluated using the Haralick texture feature in order to know the severity of the disease by examining its texture feature. In this paper, DM dataset with dense, medium, low and normal breast regions are analyzed independently with the proposed approach. The experimental result of this paper confirms that, proposed method is very proficient in extracting the breast malignancy from the considered DM database.

Detection of eye strain through blink rate and sclera area using raspberry-pi
摘要: In this paper, a unique approach is proposed to determine eye strain in children caused due to the prolonged exposure to LCD and PDP screens. Blink rate and area of eye sclera are the two efficient metrics relied upon to determine eye strain. Initially, blink rate is computed by monitoring state transitions from open to closed eyes. To segment the sclera region of the eye Otsu’s thresholding and colour tracking, were implemented. These approaches had limitations due to illumination and skin tone. To overcome this, Modified Otsu using Colour Tracking is proposed in this paper. The occurrence of eye strain is determined by comparing the values of the metrics derived in real time with a threshold. The proposed algorithm detects eye strain with an accuracy of 83%. After detection of fatigue an alert message is sent to caretakers.
