Temperature-dependent phase transition in [001]-oriented 0.72Pb(MgNb)O-0.28PbTiO single crystals
摘要: Temperature-dependent dielectricity and polarization of [001]C-oriented 0.72Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.28PbTiO3 relaxor-based ferroelectric single crystals were studied by using a combined method of the X-ray di?raction, dielectric spectrum, polarization-electric (P-E) ?eld hysteresis loops, and the Landau-phenomenological theory. Results show that the room-temperature rhombohedral phase experiences a rhombohedral-monoclinic-tetragonal coexisting state, then transforms to tetragonal phase, and ?nally to cubic phase during the zero-?eld-heating process. The six-order Landau-type thermal expansion parameters for the tetragonal phase were determined by using the typical characteristics at the cubic-tetragonal phase transition in the temperature range from 91 °C to 113 °C. The calculated dielectric curve, polarizations, and P-E loops ?t well with the experimental results. The phase stability and piezoelectricity are further studied and compared with those of the PMN-0.36PT single crystal. The provided methods and obtained Landau parameters can be used for further studies on the relaxor-based ferroelectric single crystals.

The effect of machining on domain configuration in [001]-oriented tetragonal Pb(Mg <sub/>1/3</sub> Nb <sub/>2/3</sub> )O <sub/>3</sub> –PbTiO <sub/>3</sub> single crystals
摘要: Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3–PbTiO3 (PMN–PT) single crystals have attracted increasing attention in electro-optic and nonlinear optical applications. In this paper, it was found that the domain configuration of PMN–PT single crystals was influenced by machining and electric process, such as cutting, grinding, polishing, and electrical field poling. The ordered herringbone/stripe domain pattern can be changed into an unexpected disordered domain state in tetragonal PMN–PT crystals which was observed in some crystal samples. Those chaotic structures can decrease transmittance and increase possibility of cracking during poling. However, the disordered domain pattern can be eliminated by a temperature cycling process. Crack-free single-domain crystals were successfully obtained by electric field poling, exhibiting complete optical extinction in an orthogonal polarized light microscope. The results suggest that the domain configuration of PMN–PT single crystals is sensitive to machining process and can be controlled by proper temperature and electric field.

Transferred PMN-PT Thick Film on Conductive Silver Epoxy
摘要: Approximately 25 μm Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3–PbTiO3 (PMN-PT) thick ?lm was synthesized based on a sol-gel/composite route. The obtained PMN-PT thick ?lm was successfully transferred from the Silicon substrate to the conductive silver epoxy using a novel wet chemical method. The mechanism of this damage free transfer was explored and analyzed. Compared with the ?lm on Silicon substrate, the transferred one exhibited superior dielectric, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties. These promising results indicate that transferred PMN-PT thick ?lm possesses the capability for piezoelectric device application, especially for ultrasound transducer fabrication. Most importantly, this chemical route opens a new path for transfer of thick ?lm.

Enhanced Ferroelectric and Piezoelectric Properties of (1?x)PMN-xPT Ceramics Based on a Partial Oxalate Process
摘要: The pyrochlore phase in ferroelectric and piezoelectric materials is the main obstacle device application due to its poor electrical properties. Especially, the pyrochlore phase is frequently observed in the perovskite-based metal-oxide materials including piezoelectric and ferroelectric ceramics, which are based on solid-state reaction methods for fabrication. To overcome these problems, advanced innovative methods such as partial oxalate process will be investigated. In this method, crystalized magnesium niobite (MN) and lead titanate (PT) powders will be coated with a certain amount of lead oxalate and, then, the calcination process can be carried out to form the PMN-PT without pyrochlore phase. In this study, (1?x)PMN-xPT ceramics near the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB), with compositions of x = 0.25–0.40, have been prepared employing the partial oxalate method at various temperatures. The crystalline, microstructure, and piezoelectric properties of (1?x)PMN-xPT ceramics depending on the sintering temperature were intensively investigated and discussed. By optimizing the sintering temperature and compositions from the PMN-PT ceramics, the maximum value of the piezoelectric charge coef?cient (d33) of 665pC/N, planar electromechanical coupling factor (kp) of 77.8%, dielectric constant (εr) of 3230, and remanent polarization (Pr) of 31.67 μC/cm2 were obtained.

Preparation and characterization of pyrochlore-free 0.655Pb(Mg <sub/>1/3</sub> Nb <sub/>2/3</sub> )O <sub/>3</sub> -0.345PbTiO <sub/>3</sub> piezoelectric ceramics by tape-casting process
摘要: Piezoelectric ceramics of the perovskite solid solution 0.655Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.345PbTiO3 (0.655PMN-0.345PT) were synthesized by tape-casting process. Highly dense ceramics lacking parasitic pyrochlore phases were fabricated by using precursor method and adding moderate PbO. The influences from sintering temperature on the physical and electrical properties of the 0.655PMN-0.345PT ceramics were initially investigated by phase and microstructure analyses. High piezoelectric, dielectric and ferroelectric properties of d33?700 pC/N, kp?0.605, er?4770, tand ? 0.016, Pr?30.68 lC/cm2 were obtained for the specimens sintered at 1200 (cid:2)C. Compared with the traditional solid-state sintering method, the performance of ceramics formed by tape-casting achieved an improvement.
