  • Supervision of a PV system with storage connected to the power line and design of a battery protection system

    摘要: This work presents the supervision strategy in an Arduino card PV generator with storage connected to the low voltage grid. The studied system is composed of a photovoltaic generator, a boost converter, a buck-boost converter and a single-phase inverter. The power of the PV module depends on atmospheric conditions. Batteries are often confronted with overload problems and underload. The objective of this article is to manage the charging and discharging of the batteries, taking into account their protection against overload and under load and supervise the system. For this, supervision algorithms implemented in Arduino developed. Simulation results under Matlab show that the Arduino board has ensured the protection of the batteries and system supervision.

  • A fuzzy logic embedded energy management software with multi-agent system for a stand-alone PV power plant

    摘要: The worst scenario projected for an off-grid photovoltaic power system is the time interval that the solar irradiation amount is in short to supply the load throughout the day, and this situation is resulted in energy deficiency. Nowadays, an off-grid power generating system, which is designed to consider the worst scenario encountered only during a certain period of time, brings through big financial problems in terms of the initial installation costs. This study proposes a smart software to perform energy management considering users’ comfort and their criteria, which are taking some information from the agents communicating with the consumption units wirelessly and the battery agent. All loads and agents in this system are initially defined by the user according to the importance of the consumption loads such as critical, essential, significant, lesser, and insignificant loads. The proposed energy management software includes fuzzy logic-based decision maker to manage load suspension or put the suspended load into effect again according to the state of the sources. The total amount of consumption is kept less than the total existing energy so that the energy to be consumed by the critical loads is always provided. Considering the existing amount of energy and consumer preferences, the total amount of load units is maximized at each sampling step. The proposed system, which is attained without compromising the user comfort, enables more efficient energy consumption. Also, for supplying the critical loads in case of lack of energy is possible.

    摘要: In order to improve the stability and economy of roof photovoltaic system. The frequency distribution of photovoltaic power can be obtained by using Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT), and a boundary frequency algorithm is proposed to determine the frequency of photovoltaic power generation. Then, the roof photovoltaic-hybrid energy storage control model based on household load is constructed, and the model is solved by LINGO software. Data analysis and comparison show that under the condition of full life cycle and real time price of photovoltaic power generation, user economy is superior to that of fixed price condition. The effectiveness of the proposed model coordination control strategy is verified by the user’s economy.

  • Nocturnal electric vehicle charging interacting with a residential photovoltaic-battery system: a 3E (energy, economic and environmental) analysis

    摘要: Increasing costs of petroleum derivatives, limitations on pollutant emissions and development of photovoltaic (PV) and electrical storage systems make it possible to spread the use of electrically powered vehicles. In this work, a 3E (energy, economic and environmental) feasibility study was carried out regarding an nocturnal electric vehicle (EV) charging in a residential user. In particular, three different EV charging scenarios were considered: use of the grid; use of a grid-connected PV system with a storage battery; use of a grid-connected PV system with a storage battery in the presence also of a residential user. Two sub-scenarios were examined that foresee the purchase of the EV as an alternative to a vehicle powered, respectively, by petrol and diesel. By considering different daily average distances travelled, a parametric study was developed in order to assess the influence of the size of the PV and storage system on the load satisfaction and solar energy utilization, economic convenience and emission savings. In general, it is not possible to simultaneously comply with all the 3E objectives and constraints. However, it is possible to select optimal EV-PV-battery combinations from a unique point of view or those that lead to a trade-off.

    摘要: The present paper deals with a speed sensorless technique of vector controlled induction motor drive fed from solar PV (Photovoltaic) array used for water pumping. This sensorless technique is based stator flux oriented in stationary reference frame. The special feature of the proposed topology is the additional feedforward loop added to the existing vector control loop, which makes it decoupled as a key feature of vector control. The mechanical sensorless induction motor drive is powered by solar photovoltaic (SPV) array to be utilized to drive the submersible water pump. The simulation of proposed topology is performed in MATLAB/Simulink environment and its performance is validated on test setup developed in the laboratory.

    摘要: The increasing penetration of renewables in the distribution networks (DN) can cause severe operation constraint violations, such as voltage violation and branch line overload. To deal with like photovoltaic (PV), a novel real-time scheduling (RTS) approach for energy storage systems (ESSs) in distribution networks is proposed in this paper. The distribution network operators (DNO) dispatch the PV, ESS and the substation together to minimized the weighted cost and ensure the security of system operation. The AC OPF in DN is formulated as a second-order cone programming (SOCP) problem where we can obain the global optimal solution using some off-the-shelf solvers. Case studies on 37-bus system demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach as well as the exactness of the relaxation.

  • Technical and Economic Performance of 1MW Grid-connected PV system in Saudi Arabia

    摘要: In this paper, a feasibility study has been done utilizing real time solar irradiance data for a 1MW grid-connected PV system in Qassim region in the middle of Saudi Arabia. The analysis has been done using both technical and economic indicators. Technical performance indicators are; Yield Factor, Capacity Factor and Performance Ratio. Economic indicators are; Levelized cost of energy and simple payback time. The simulation results show high energy productivity, and both technical and economic indicators are high compared with similar systems in different countries. Also, the greenhouse gas emission reduction has been estimated. The prices of PV modules and balance of system components are up to date. The analysis results proved the viability of the proposed system supposing there is no any governmental incentives or grants which could make big difference.

    摘要: The increasing growth of solar power plants installation necessitates performing accurate investigations on new methods to find optimum tilt angel and orientation of photovoltaic (PV) panels. Using optimum methods increases collected solar irradiance, and consequently, maximize the expected annual harvested energy, which means better financial performance of PV power plants. In this paper, the optimum tilt angle and orientation of PV panels are calculated by introducing two accurate analytic methods, which take into account the climate conditions of the installation region by considering wind speed, irradiance and ambient temperature. The results of this paper, which are supported by Monte Carlo simulation, indicate that compared with the traditional method, an increase in expected annual produced energy of solar panels is achievable using the optimum tilt angel and orientation calculated by the presented methods.

    摘要: Photovoltaic (PV) panel is used to convert solar energy into electricity. Increase in collection of solar radiations by Photovoltaic (PV) panel rises electricity output from it. By tracking the movement of sun, PV panel can be always positioned in such a way that it can collect maximum amount of solar radiations. This paper presents MATLAB simulation model of Dual Axis Solar Tracking System (DASTS), in which the PV panel can be rotated along two axes of rotation to track both east to west and north to south movement of sun. East to west angle selector and north to south angle selector provide particular angles to PV panel according to particular illuminance level at particular time of the day to rotate and position PV panel in such a way that it can always faces the sun. Readings of voltage, current and power obtain from PV panel with Dual Axis Solar Tracking System are taken at different times of the day and they are compared with readings of voltage, current and power obtain from fixed PV panel at different times of the day.
