    摘要: Control and monitoring processes in the electric field are fundamental aspects in smart grid. Different attributes, systems and mechanisms are required in handling activities from transmission, distribution and consumer side of the electrical network based on advanced technologies. In Tanzania, there still exists manual operations on distribution side and very little on the transmission side. Agent based distributed system has been seen to work successfully which involves the use of artificial intelligence and autonomous actions during the operations and controlling activities. Therefore, in this manner, the generated model based on REPAST simulation tool for solar driven DC microgrid will be achieved to show features of control and monitoring the grid including load shedding technique and demand responses based on pricing. Furthermore, the design of the prototype based on the stated features will be implemented. The advantages and impact of the demonstration can be deployed and used in any community for the application of any renewable energy systems.

    摘要: The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is endowed with solar energy that can be harvested and stored as hydrogen, which has gained increasing focus as a secondary energy medium. This paper introduces modeling and feasibility analysis of cost-optimized hydrogen production, storage, shipment, and methanation in the MENA region. The analysis is based on the economic modeling of hydrogen production through the combination of photovoltaic solar power and electrolysis systems, utilizing NASA surface Meteorology and Solar Energy database (2010)[1]. A system of 100MW grid-connected photovoltaic PV power plant (grid-PV) in combination with hydrogen producing electrolyzer are simulated using spatial data for the MENA region. Then, the simulation assesses cost of methane production by Sabatier synthesis of carbon dioxide. The unit cost of hydrogen from a system, which consists of 100MW PV solar plant and electrolyzer, ranged 4-8 US$/kg. Methanation was found to be expensive vis-à-vis regionally traded natural gas. Location is a major determinant to hydrogen cost due to the difference in irradiation and logistics. In conclusion, this paper can serve as an atlas for mapping the cost of solar power and hydrogen production in the MENA region, and facilitates further research in the future.

  • Method of Photoplethysmography Diagnostics of Domesticated Animals Cardiovascular Diseases

    摘要: At present time the standard procedure to diagnose cardiovascular diseases (CVD) of domesticated animals (dogs) is electrocardiography (ECG) monitoring at animal clinic. Sadly, results, obtained that way, are often mistaken because of stressful state of the animal, caused by medical manipulations [1]. The usage of photoplethysmography (PPG) method can become a good substitute for CVD monitoring. Main advantages of PPG, in compare with ECG, are single probe placement (on the ear or tailset), no need of gel electrodes and capability of measuring actual CVS parameters without need of special medical training or laboratory conditions. It is one of non-invasive methods for measuring the amount of the blood volume changes inside the blood vessels, applicable for cardio activity estimation by calculating heart rate variability. In most cases, PPG monitoring devises are small, easy to place and can monitor different physiological parameters of the animal, such as heart rate, pulse wave characteristics, blood oxygen saturation, etc.

    摘要: Modern smart surveillance systems have to deal with heterogeneous surveillance devices and the huge size of the video surveillance data. The surveillance data also contains sensitive and personal information and, hence, the security of the surveillance data is a demanding requirement. Owing to the large data size of the surveillance videos, conventional security measures cannot possibly be applied to all of the video surveillance data and, consequently, this presents a signi?cant challenge within the resource constraints and dynamics of the emerging Internet of Things (IoT). Therefore, appropriate and automated intelligent systems need to be adopted for management, secure transmission, secure storage, and ef?cient retrieval of the ever-increasing surveillance video data. In this paper, an intelligent surveillance security framework for videos is proposed. The proposed framework for real-time video processing is integrated with surveillance video semantic concepts to provide an effective and ef?cient solution for selection, implementation, and manipulation of heterogeneous surveillance devices. The aim is to create a core, Secure Smart Surveillance Ontology (SSSO) to represent and share the common vocabularies for secure communication and storage of surveillance video for different surveillance devices, with an ontology being the explicit formal representation of basic categories within the domain. Firstly, different security levels are de?ned with respect to heterogeneous devices on the basis of their respective storage capacity to ensure suf?cient encryption details with minimal resources used. Secondly, in the proposed ontology, device-speci?c security concepts are linked with the surveillance video concepts. After that the proposed SSSO is integrated within the security framework. Overall, the proposed security framework allows relatively fast indexing and retrieval along with device-speci?c security.

    摘要: Next generation electron beam inspection tools will require a high brightness electron source. We have designed, microfabricated and tested arrays of metal coated silicon cold field emitters that have high current density and high reduced brightness, offering a promising alternative to thermal field emitters. One of the main challenges that must be addressed with cold field emitters is achieving stable emission current. Using current pulsing, we have been able to improve the stability of field emission currents and have demonstrated beam currents with less than 1% noise.

Before deciding to use a lighting management system, it is worth knowing what value of savings energy this system will bring in specific case. The article present results of measurements basic light and electric parameters of LED luminaires with the possibility of controlling via DALI signal and obtained on base these measurements characteristic power control. Presented the method of calculating potential energy savings based on the received measurement results. Sources of differences between simulation calculations and real savings in using energy. The article present the differences between the evaluation of savings energy consumption simulation in the DIALUX program and real values. On the example of an existing lighting control system installed in sample room.

    摘要: We explore the emergence of exceptional points of degeneracy (EPDs) that denote a coalescence of multiple eigenmodes in coupled-mode structures. We establish the general conditions that lead to observing EPDs of different orders in various coupled systems, either uniform (non-periodic) or periodic. EPDs can be found in lossless systems as well as in systems with gain-loss balance. Also, we provide examples of potential applications of structures with EPDs that help improve the performance of devices, like sensors, oscillators, etc., at microwave and optical frequencies.

  • Theoretical study on optical response in nanostructures in the Born–Markov regime: The role of spontaneous emission and dephasing

    摘要: We theoretically study the linear and nonlinear optical susceptibility in a nanostructure that interacts with a classical monochromatic optical field, by means of the solution of a Born-Markov master equation in the Lindblad form, considering as environment for the system the quantum vacuum of the continuum of modes of the external electromagnetic field. The processes of spontaneous emission and dephasing between two levels of the nanostructured quantum system are studied formally, within the framework of the quantum theory of open systems. It was found that the phenomenological master equation corresponds to a Born-Markov master equation in the Lindblad form that considers only the dissipative terms of spontaneous emission and dephasing, provided that the transverse coherence time is smaller than spontaneous emission time . Finally, comparative results are presented between the proposed methodology and the conventional method for: optical rectification, optical absorption, generation of second harmonic and generation of third harmonic in a cylindrical quantum dot (CQD) of with a hydrogen-like impurity inside it and under the action of a uniform magnetic field.

    摘要: To solve problems of high-precision mapping of spatially extended objects regardless of weather conditions and time of day, radar imaging systems are used. The globality and efficiency of the survey is provided by the placement of radars on aerospace carriers. At the same time, there has been a proliferation of side-scan radars (providing a wide viewing range with a low spatial resolution) and antenna aperture synthesis radars (these provide high resolution in spatial coordinates, which depends on the type of survey). Radars used for imaging are classified according to various characteristics determining their advantages and disadvantages. Among such features, we can also distinguish the radar viewing area, which is currently limited to angles of 15° to 60° to the right and left of the observation in the nadir. The viewing range from -15° to +15° from the nadir is characterized by a low resolution in range and traditionally is not visible by these radars (the so-called "blind zone"). In this regard, an alternative system for building radar images from aerospace carriers is proposed. It will provide imaging with high angular resolution of the viewing range from -15° to +15° from the nadir. The main feature of the developed radar lies in the signal processing algorithm that combines methods of active (the presence of probing UWB signal) and passive (aperture synthesis) radiolocation. In addition, the radar implements a new method of "spectral aperture synthesis," which allows from processing of UWB signals with the continuum spectrum to processing multi-band signal processing.
