  • Comparative study on parameter extraction of photovoltaic models via differential evolution

    摘要: Parameter extraction of photovoltaic (PV) models, which remains a multi-variable, nonlinear, and multi-modal problem, has recently gained considerable attention in the simulation and calculation of solar PV systems. Among various parameter extraction techniques, differential evolution (DE) and its variants are envisaged to be pretty effective for parameter extraction of PV models. In this paper, 11 state-of-the-art DE algorithms are comprehensively compared to extract the parameters of different PV models. The performance of each algorithm is evaluated based on the accuracy of solution, convergence speed, and the robustness. Based on the experimental results and analysis of different DE algorithms, the useful insights are concluded, which can guide the improvement of designing more efficient alternative DE methods for solving the PV parameter extraction problems.

  • Nondestructive Evaluation of Thermal Aging in Al6061 Alloy by Measuring Acoustic Nonlinearity of Laser-Generated Surface Acoustic Waves

    摘要: The structures in high-temperature environments are prone to undergo hardening and embrittlement as a result of thermal aging; this can cause variations in their mechanical properties. Because these changes occur at the microstructural level, it is difficult to evaluate them through linear ultrasonic techniques. In this work, a surface acoustic wave (SAW) was used to measure and compare the acoustic nonlinearity and mechanical properties of Al6061 alloys heat-treated at 220°C for different durations (0 min, 20 min, 40 min, 1 h, 2 h, 10 h, 100 h, 1000 h). The SAW was generated by a pulsed laser and then received by an interferometer. Moreover, the yield strength, ultimate strength, and elongation to failure were measured by tensile tests. The results demonstrate that the critical variations in the mechanical properties can be detected by monitoring the variation features in the acoustic nonlinearity. Transmission electron microscopy images were captured to observe the microstructural changes, which shows that the acoustic nonlinearity varied according to the change in the precipitation phase. This supports the acoustic nonlinearity measurement using the laser-generated SAW being an effective technique for the fully noncontact nondestructive evaluation of material degradations as well as changes in mechanical properties.

    摘要: Models of biochemical reaction networks commonly contain a large number of parameters, while at the same time, there is only a limited amount of (noisy) data available for their estimation. As such, the values of many parameters are not well known as nominal parameter values have to be determined from the open scienti?c literature and a signi?cant number of the values may have been derived in different cell types or organisms than that which is modeled. There clearly is a need to estimate at least some of the parameter values from experimental data; however, the small amount of available data and the large number of parameters commonly found in these types of models require the use of regularization techniques to avoid over?tting. A tutorial of regularization techniques, including parameter set selection, precedes a case study of estimating parameters in a signal transduction network. Cross-validation results rather than ?tting results are presented to further emphasize the need for models that generalize well to new data instead of simply ?tting the current data.

    摘要: A Taguchi-based genetic algorithm (TBGA) is adopted in an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) to optimize the micro-structure parameters of backlight modules (BLMs) in liquid-crystal displays. The method reduces the number of experiments and accumulates the data that indicate performance quality of the modules. The TBGA selects appropriate membership functions and optimizes the premise and consequent parameters by minimizing the performance criterion of root-mean-squared error. The results indicate that the ANFIS with TBGA is significantly superior to ANFIS with particle swarm optimization, ANFIS with GA, and conventional ANFIS for designing the BLM model. Another role of the TBGA is optimizing micro-structure parameters for the backlight module. The results confirm excellent outcome of the TBGA-based ANFIS approach in terms of prediction accuracy, cost reduction, and luminance uniformity. Far more superior results were obtained when compared with those reported in the literature using conventional trial-and-error design methods and even Taguchi-based design methods. Fuzzy model in nature, our approach is applicable generally to industrial product designs and, thus, offers an effective route to solving problems in various industries.

  • Boosted mutation-based Harris hawks optimizer for parameters identification of single-diode solar cell models

    摘要: In order to realize the performance of the PV model before being installed, it is often indispensable to develop reliable and accurate parameter identification methods for dealing with the PV models. Up to now, several stochastic methods have been proposed to analyze the feature space of this problem. However, some of the stochastic-based methods may present unsatisfactory results due to their insufficient exploration and exploitation inclinations, and the multimodal and nonlinearity existed in PV parameters extraction problems. In this paper, a Boosted Harris Hawk’s Optimization (BHHO) technique is proposed to achieve a more stable model and effectively estimate the parameters of the single diode PV model. The BHHO method combines random exploratory steps of evolution inspired by the flower pollination algorithm (FPA) and a powerful mutation scheme of the differential evolution (DE) with 2-Opt algorithms. The proposed strategies not only help BHHO algorithm to accelerate the convergence rate but also assist it in scanning new regions of the search basins. The results demonstrate that the proposed BHHO is more accurate and reliable compared to the basic version and several well-established methods. The BHHO method was rigorously validated by using real experimental data under seven sunlight and temperature conditions. Furthermore, the statistical criteria indicate that the proposed BHHO method has lower errors among other peers, which is highly useful for real-world applications.

  • Deterministic Controlled Remote State Preparation of Real-Parameter Multi-Qubit States via Maximal Slice States

    摘要: By exploiting three-qubit entangled states and appropriate measurement basis, we propose efficient protocols for deterministic controlled remote state preparation of arbitrary real-parameter multi-qubit states, in which the maximal slice states are used as quantum channel. The successful probability of our schemes can reach up to 100% by using multi-qubit mutually orthogonal measurement basis without the introduction of auxiliary particles. Based on the implementation schemes for preparing arbitrary two- and three-qubit states with real parameters, we have derived the controlled remote state preparation protocols for arbitrary real-parameter multi-qubit states.

  • Waveguide-input resonant tunnelling diode mixer for THz communications

    摘要: This paper considers a group of drogues whose objective is to estimate the physical parameters that determine the dynamics of ocean nonlinear internal waves. Internal waves are important in oceanography because, as they travel, they are capable of displacing small animals, such as plankton, larva, and ?sh. These waves are described by models that employ trigonometric functions parameterized by a set of constants such as amplitude, wavenumber, and temporal frequency. While underwater, individual drogues do not have access to absolute position information and only rely on inter-drogue measurements. Building on this data and the study of the drogue dynamics under the ?ow induced by the internal wave, we design two strategies, referred to as the Vanishing Derivative Method and the Passing Wave Method, that are able to determine the wavenumber and the speed ratio. Either of these strategies can be employed in the Parameter Determination Strategy to determine all the remaining wave parameters. We analyze the correctness of the proposed strategies and discuss their robustness against different sources of error. Simulations illustrate the algorithm performance under noisy measurements as well as the effect of different initial drogue con?gurations.

    摘要: An algorithm is proposed for the detection and joint estimation of target parameters for a radar with a two-element rotating antenna. Rotation of the antenna introduces unwanted effects, which may cause inaccuracy in the parameter estimation. Target detection is performed by adding the processed data from two sensors. Joint estimation of range, Doppler, and direction of arrival (DOA) is carried while compensating the effects of antenna rotation. The detection performance is analyzed in terms of the receiver operating characteristics. Analytical expressions of Cramer–Rao Bound for Doppler, the range and DOA are derived. Computational complexity is also discussed. A simulation demonstrates and veri?es the proposed algorithm and its analyses.

    摘要: This paper proposes a new computational method for retrieving shapes under unpredictable conditions such as when occlusion, geometric distortion, and differences in image resolution occur simultaneously. The human visual system retrieves shapes from incomplete information in the real world, and it has inspired a lot of computational methods of retrieving shapes. In order to retrieve shapes, the observed shapes are decided to be alike or unlike remembered shapes in memory after the comparison of these shapes. To compare the observed and remembered shapes, they must first be appropriately represented so that the points on each shape can be mapped and compared. For this reason, the shape retrieval process needs an appropriate shape representation and shape mapping methods. Moreover, the shape representations should be normalized before the mapping process. However, a normalization process for representations under unpredictable conditions has not yet been established. In this paper, we describe a shape retrieval method that enables us to retrieve shapes under unpredictable conditions with a suitable normalization process. Using curvature partition and angle-length profile, our shape retrieval method normalizes the shape representation before it does the mapping. As a result, unlike the previously proposed methods, it can be used under unpredictable conditions such as when occlusion, geometric distortion, and differences in image resolution occur simultaneously.
