  • A Photonic System for Generating Unconditional Polarization-Entangled Photons Based on Multiple Quantum Interference

    摘要: We present a high-performance source of unconditional polarization-entangled photons that have a high-emission rate, a broadband distribution, are degenerated and postselection free. The property of the source is based on the multiple quantum interference effect with a round-trip configuration of a Sagnac interferometer. The quantum interference effects make it possible to use the high generation efficiency of the polarization-entangled photons to process parametric down-conversion, and separate degenerated photon pairs into different optical modes without a postselection requirement. The principle of the optical system was described and experimentally used to measure the fidelity and Bell parameters, and also to characterize the generated polarization-entangled photons from a minimum of six combinations of polarization correlated data. The experimentally obtained fidelity and Bell parameters exceeded the classical local correlation limit and are clear evidence of the generation of unconditional polarization-entangled photons.

  • X-ray photon pairs with highly suppressed background

    摘要: We describe an experiment demonstrating the possibility to generate collinear indistinguishable x-ray photon pairs with a highly suppressed background. By choosing angles near 90 degrees between the detectors and the pump beam, where the pump polarization is in the scattering plane, we improve the signal-to-noise ratio by 2 orders of magnitude. We measure the pure coincidence spectrum without any energy discrimination with a bandwidth of 1.5 keV at the full width at half maximum.

  • Dispersion measurement method with down conversion process

    摘要: Proper characterization of nonlinear crystals is essential for designing single photon sources. We show a technique for dispersion characterization of a nonlinear material by making use of phase matching in the process of parametric down conversion. We use our procedure to improve the Sellmeier coefficients measured by another methods. Our method is demonstrated on an exemplary periodically poled potassium titanyl phosphate KTiOPO4 crystal phase-matched for 396 nm to 532 nm and 1550 nm. We show a procedure to characterize the dispersion in the range of 390 to 1800 nm by means of only one spectrometer for the UV–visible range.

  • Generation of narrow-band single-photon states via spontaneous parametric down-conversion for quantum memories in doped crystals

    摘要: We present experimental results on the generation of narrow-band single-photon states via cavity-enhanced spontaneous parametric down-conversion in a PPLN crystal and demonstrate the feasibility of conditional preparation of single 867-nm photons with a 70-MHz linewidth, compatible with optical quantum memory devices based on Nd3+-doped isotopically pure Y7LiF4 crystals.
