  • Comparison of UV-AOPs (UV/H2O2, UV/PDS and UV/Chlorine) for TOrC removal from municipal wastewater effluent and optical surrogate model evaluation

    摘要: UV-based advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) have been widely explored to remove organic contaminants from water streams. In this lab-scale study, the removal of 17 trace organic chemicals (TOrCs) by UV/H2O2, UV/PDS and UV/Chlorine was investigated at equimolar radical promoter concentrations in municipal wastewater. Direct comparison of the UV-AOPs was conducted with eight TOrCs being resistant to direct oxidation by H2O2, PDS and chlorine and revealed a general oxidation performance following the order of UV/Chlorine > UV/H2O2 ≈ UV/PDS while UV/PDS and UV/Chlorine exhibited higher compound selectivity than UV/H2O2. However, although oxidation performance of UV/Chlorine is outstanding in comparison of the three UV-AOPs, it has to be noted that oxidation byproduct (OBP) formation potential might be substantially higher during both UV/PDS and UV/Chlorine compared to UV/H2O2 which was not investigated in this study. Evaluating potential optical surrogates to predict trace organic chemical (TOrCs) removal in UV-AOPs, nine parameters were selected representing chromophore and fluorophore features of DOM including components derived by parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC) of excitation-emission matrices. UV absorbance (UVA), total fluorescence (TF) and the selected fluorescence peak P_IV revealed highest linear correlation coefficients and were therefore identified as surrogates representing underlying mechanistic reactions of each UV-AOP. As none of the surrogates directly reacted with UV irradiation, slopes of surrogate-indicator correlations for photo-susceptible TOrCs decreased towards higher oxidant dosages. Correlations for these compounds should therefore only be determined for a limited range of oxidant dosage.

  • Polarization induced two-dimensional electron gas in ZnO/ZnMgO Heterointerface for High-performance enhanced UV photodetector

    摘要: The spontaneous formation of two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) with a high carrier density (~1018 cm-3) was achieved at a ZnO/Mg0.2Zn0.8O interface grown using a facile radio-frequency magnetron sputtering system on a quartz substrate. Compared with Mg0.2Zn0.8O ultraviolet (UV) photodetectors (PDs) with and without a ZnO buffer layer, the PD based on ZnO/Mg0.2Zn0.8O bilayer films exhibited not only sensitivity to dual wavelength in the UV region, but also significantly enhanced spectral responsivity, photocurrent-to-dark current ratio (107), specific detectivity (1014), and UV/visible rejection ratio of about four orders of magnitude at a low operating voltage bias. Induced by 2DEG, the external quantum efficiency (EQE) of photodetector reached 14858% at 10 V, indicating that a considered high gain was achieved in the device based on this heterojunction architecture. The gain mechanism was further demonstrated by polarization induction and band bending in detail. This application of 2DEG in a practical detector offers a novel and effective approach for the substantial improvement in the high-performance of ZnO/Mg0.2Zn0.8O dual-band UV PDs.

  • Solution-Processed Inorganic Perovskite Flexible Photodetectors with High Performance

    摘要: All inorganic CsPbI3-xBrx perovskites have been widely used in photodetectors due to their excellent optoelectronic properties and simple preparation processes. Here, high-performance flexible photodetectors based on inorganic CsPbI3-xBrx perovskites are demonstrated, which are achieved by a modified solution-processed method. When biased at a low voltage of 10 mV, the device yielded fast response speeds (90 μs /110 μs for CsPbI2Br PDs and 100 μs/140 μs for CsPbIBr2 PDs), a high on/off ratio of 104, and a high detectivity about 1012 Jones. Meanwhile, the devices showed outstanding environmental stability and mechanical flexibility. The periodic I-t curves had negligible fluctuation (< 5%) after storing in air atmosphere for 30 days or bending for 100 times. The results indicate that CsPbI3-xBrx perovskites have great potential in photodetection areas and pave the way to achieve high-performance flexible PDs.

  • Structural and optical properties of metallic doped Palladium Sulfide thin films

    摘要: The Addition of impurities and the nature of substrate are known to change the properties of any deposited thin films. In this work, the influence of doping on the structural and optical properties of PdS thin films grown by chemical bath method has been studied. Aluminum (Al) was used as the dopant for PdS thin films deposited at room temperature. Band gap energy (??g), and other optical parameters were determined from the optical transmission of the film. The estimated energy band gap for the films varied from 1.50 to 1.80 eV. Nanocrystal PdS thin films exhibited a tetragonal structure with average crystallite size of 60 nm. The results obtained prove that doping have profound and superficial effects on optical and structural properties of the deposited PdS thin films.

    摘要: Waveguide-coupled THz photonic transmitters, which have novel design of dual-ridged horn antenna and ultra-fast photodiodes, demonstrate extremely wide 3-dB fractional O-E bandwidth (100%; 0.1-0.3 THz). A reasonable power (31.6 μW; 0.24 THz) can be detected in the receiving-end through wireless transmission.
