    摘要: This paper presents a novel method for detecting the level of oil-water separation in a separator using electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) and electrical resistance tomography (ERT). The feasibility of using ECT and ERT for interface detection in separators has been studied in many studies [1]-[3]. As the dielectric constant of oil and water is different, the capacitance will change when the sensor moves from oil to water. When the position of oil-water interface is at the upper end of the electrode pair A-B, the capacitance measurement C1,2 will change. When the position of oil-water interface is at the upper end of the electrode pair A-D, the capacitance measurement C1,4 will change. So we can get the formulas for calculating the oil level. For ERT, when the sensor moves from oil to water, the resistance will change. When the position of oil-water interface is at the upper end of the electrode pair A-B, the resistance measurement R1,2 will change. When the position of oil-water interface is at the upper end of the electrode pair A-D, the resistance measurement R1,4 will change. So we can get the formulas for calculating the oil level. The experimental results show that the proposed method can accurately detect the oil-water interface level in the separator.

    摘要: Fringe effect exists in conventional ERT sensors, i.e. severe distortions of electric field on both ends of sensor electrodes. This leads to a 3D sensing region for a 2D ERT sensor. As a result, the objects outside the ERT sensor plane can still be sensed and imaged, which is undesired and deteriorates the image accuracy. To tackle with this issue, a three-plane ERT sensor scheme is proposed. Simulation results show that the three-plane sensor scheme can compensate for the fringe effect induced by the object outside the measurement sensor plane regarding a distribution with three non-conductive bars at different cross-sectional and axial positions. Meanwhile, it is found that for axially uniform distributions, the proposed compensation method can reduce the size overestimation of non-conductive objects to be imaged by linear reconstruction method such as the Landweber iteration. Finally, an experimental ERT system is established to verify the findings from simulation.

  • Influence of Structure Modification of Silicon Carbide Materials on Their Dynamic Properties

    摘要: SiC ceramic materials were prepared both by reactive and liquid-phase sintering. Structure was modified during preparation by introducing reinforcing SiC-filaments and by synthesizing grains self-reinforcing the structure. The armor-protection capacity was determined by estimating the bullet penetration delay time.

  • Effect of Nb addition on microstructure and properties of laser cladding NiCrBSi coatings

    摘要: NiCrBSi coatings with different Nb additions have been prepared by laser cladding. The microstructure, phase composition, hardness, and wear resistance of the coatings were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron probe microanalyser (EPMA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), microhardness tester and M-200 wear tester. The results show that the phases in the NiCrBSi coating without Nb addition include γ-Ni, Cr23C6, Cr7C3, Ni3B, Ni3Si2 and CrB. The NbC phase appears in coatings after the addition of Nb element. When the addition of Nb is 2 wt-%, the NbC particles with a size of about 1.2 μm were found in the coating, and the amount of NbC is about 1.8 vol.-%. With the increase of Nb addition, the size and amount of NbC in the coatings also increased. When the addition of Nb is 6 wt-%, the size of NbC is about 2.3–6.1 μm and the morphology of NbC changed from particle to quadrangular and petaloid shaped. In addition, when the addition of Nb is 2 wt-%, the hardness and wear resistance of the coating are the best, and the wear resistance of the coating is 104% higher than that without Nb addition.

  • Water Impact Resistant and Antireflective Superhydrophobic Surfaces Fabricated by Spray Coating of Nanoparticles: Interface Engineering via End-Grafted Polymers

    摘要: Fully transparent and water impact resistant superhydrophobic coatings are of great importance for a range of applications including photovoltaics, photonics, automotive windshields, and building windows. A widely utilized approach to fabricate such coatings involves solution-based deposition of hydrophobic nanoparticles. A central challenge is that these coatings do not simultaneously offer high levels of water repellency, perfect transparence, and water impact resistance. Here we demonstrate that end-grafted polymers present excellent interfaces for spray-coated hydrophobic nanoparticles and enable fabrication of water impact resistant and antireflective superhydrophobic coatings (SHPARCs). Depending on the backbone chemistry and thickness, end-grafted polymers uniquely interacted with the fluorinated nanoparticles, resulting in nanostructured films that provided reduction of reflective losses and protection from the impact of water droplets. Counterintuitively, substrates modified with end-grafted hydrophilic polymers exhibited high water impact resistance: the sliding angle of SHPARC on 12 nm thick end-grafted poly(ethylene glycol) layer was <2° after exposure to 100000 water droplets. SHPARC increased the transparency of the glass substrate by ~5% through omnidirectional antireflectivity. We finally demonstrate application of SHPARC on a large area (156 × 156 mm2) silicon solar cell without significant (<0.23%) reduction of the power conversion efficiency, illustrating the promise of the presented approach in fabrication of self-cleaning photovoltaic modules.

    摘要: This conference poster discusses a particular situation where the current emitted from a carbon nanofibre field electron emitter was found to be a nearly linear function of the applied voltage, with the load resistance (as seen by the high- voltage generator) approximately equal to 150 Mega-ohms. This suggests that non-orthodoxy of measured FN plots can sometimes be due to series resistance rather than current dependence in a characterization parameter, and also that "saturation" may not be a good name for the effect. The Fowler-Nordheim (FN) plot has a characteristic shape, in that it "turns over and then decreases in a roughly linear fashion", as the applied voltage V increases (and 1/V decreases). A preliminary literature search has found examples of other FN plots that behave in a generally similar way. This raises the hypothetical possibility that, when a FN plot is non-linear, information about the cause of the non-linearity could be deduced from general characteristics of its shape. However, much detailed research is needed before this could be done with confidence,

  • [NanoScience and Technology] Silicene (Prediction, Synthesis, Application) || Si Nanoribbons: From 1D to 3D Nanostructures

    摘要: In this chapter we give an overview on the theoretical and experimental investigations of one-dimensional (1D), two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) Si nanoribbons (SiNRs) formed on the anisotropic Ag(110) substrate surface. We start by introducing briefly free-standing silicene, a silicon layer with Si atoms arranged in honeycomb lattice, with hexagonal Si-rings as structural units. These hexagonal Si units are subsequently discussed as possible candidates to explain the atomic arrangement of the experimentally synthesized Si nanoribbons on Ag(110). This interpretation is supported by properties such as the presence of the 1D projection of the π and π* bands, forming the so-called “Dirac cones” at the K points of the Brillouin zone, the sp2-like nature of the Si valence orbitals, and the strong resistance against oxidation. Besides these results, the atomic structure as well as the origin of the electronic properties of these Si nanoribbons are still controversially debated in the literature. We address this discussion in the last part of the chapter before summarizing it.

  • Evaluation of photodynamic therapy effect along with colistin on pandrug-resistant <i>Acinetobacter baumannii</i>

    摘要: Background and Aims: Pandrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (PDRAB) are including colistin resistant starins (CoRAB) which cause infections potentially untreatable infections. Recently, incidence of these strains are increasing worldwide. Therefore, new approaches, methods and strategies are urgently needed for treatment and eradication of infections due to PDRAB. So the aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) in combination treatment with colistin against PDRAB. Materials and Methods: PDRAB which was isolated from burn patients was used as a test strain. PDT carried out in which toluidine blue O (TBO) and light-emitting diode (LED) were used as photosensitizer and radiation source, respectively. Then, the effect of PDT plus colistin was evaluated on CoRAB and the colony-forming units of each tested groups calculated. Finally, confirmation of antibacterial activity of combination therapy was carried out using scanning electron microscope. Results: PDT declined bacterial count in comparing with control group by 83.7% of killing percentage, in other words, less than one log reduction. While PDT in combination with colistin showed high synergetic effect against A. baumannii in all concentrations of colistin tested by 100% of killing percentage with 9-log reduction. Conclusions: According to our results, PDT alone couldn’t eliminate all of the treated bacterial cells. But when combined with colistin, it killed all of the treated bacterial cells in all tested concentrations. Also PDT decreased the minimal inhibitory concentration of colistin against PDRAB by more than 11 fold.

  • Modeling and Simulation of Comprehensive Diode Behavior under Electrostatic Discharge Stresses

    摘要: Diodes are effective devices for Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protection. To accurately predict ESD robustness through circuit simulation of protection architectures in integrated circuits that use diodes, an enhanced model is proposed. This model is constructed with several compact model elements to simulate all physical device behaviors under high current transient ESD conditions, namely voltage overshoot, on-resistance variation, and thermal failure. The proposed model implements a thermal monitor, which can not only correlate current – voltage characteristics with the self-heating effect, but accurately predicts thermal failure under different pulse width conditions. The simulation results of this comprehensive diode model benchmarked against measurements are also reported.

    摘要: The asymptotical solution of the 3-D vector problem of diffraction of the field of the monopole with the uniform distributed surface impedance, placed on the ideally conducting rectangular screen with the sides sizes L and W is obtained. Within the frame of the uniform geometrical theory of diffraction the radiation field in a far zone is represented as the sum of the geometric optics field from an impedance monopole placed on infinite screen, and the diffracted fields from the rectangular screen edges. The radiation resistances are calculated by the Poynting vector method as the functions of the monopole’s surface impedance and the sizes of monopole and screen. The input impedances of the same monopoles on the square screens have calculated using commercial software too. It is shown that at all surface impedances and monopole’s lengths the radiation and input resistances reach maximum at L=W=0.9 of wavelength.
