  • Controllable synthesis of rhombohedral α-Fe2O3 efficient for photocatalytic degradation of bisphenol A

    摘要: One-step controllable synthesis of rhombohedral α-Fe2O3 photocatalyst has been successfully developed by P123 soft template assisted method. A combination analysis of XRD, BET, SEM and HRTEM has documented that P123 surfactant plays a crucial role in the controllable synthesis of rhombohedral α-Fe2O3 with the exposure of (110) and (012). The as-obtained α-Fe2O3 material is efficient for the photocatalytic degradation of Bisphenol A (BPA). About 91% of BPA (30 mg/L) was degraded by using 1 g/L α-Fe2O3 within 6 h under the simulated sunlight irradiation, which was almost twice higher than that of commercial Fe2O3. More importantly, reaction intermediates (e.g., 4, 4′-methylenediphenol, phenol and lactic acid) were confirmed by LC–MS/MS analysis, and the rational pathway of BPA degradation was finally proposed.

  • Dielectric and piezoelectric properties of Sm3+ doped lead barium niobate (PBN) ceramics

    摘要: Rhombohedral samarium doped Lead based ceramic materials were fabricated by a high temperature conventional solid state mixed oxide ceramic process. The ceramic composition Pb1-x-3y/2Bax Re3+ y Nb2O6 (x = 0.35 and y=0.00, 0.02, 0.04 and 0.06, Re3+ = Sm3+). The pure and Sm3+ doped lead barium niobate ceramic materials are single phase with rhombohedral(hexagonal) symmetry obtained from powder x-ray diffraction (XRD). The grain size has been measured for all the compositions and lying between 1.60-2.90μm. Broad dielectric peak phase transitions observed with temperature in pure and Sm3+ ion modified lead barium niobate ceramic materials. It is observed that the high values of piezoelectric charge coefficients in d31 and d33 in Sm3+ doped lead barium niobate ceramics. The mechanical quality factor Qm and d33 increases with increase of Sm3+ ion concentration and indicating a highly polarisable lead ion contributing to high Curie temperature dielectric constant.

  • Stacking Order in Graphite Films Controlled by Van der Waals Technology

    摘要: In graphite crystals, layers of graphene reside in three equivalent, but distinct, stacking positions typically referred to as A, B, and C projections. The order in which the layers are stacked defines the electronic structure of the crystal, providing an exciting degree of freedom which can be exploited for designing graphitic materials with unusual properties including predicted high-temperature superconductivity and ferromagnetism. However, the lack of control of the stacking sequence limits most research to the stable ABA form of graphite. Here we demonstrate a strategy to control the stacking order using van der Waals technology. To this end, we first visualise the distribution of stacking domains in graphite films and then perform directional encapsulation of ABC-rich graphite crystallites with hexagonal boron nitride (hBN). We found that hBN-encapsulation which is introduced parallel to the graphite zigzag edges preserves ABC stacking, while encapsulation along the armchair edges transforms the stacking to ABA. The technique presented here should facilitate new research on the important properties of ABC graphite.
