  • Replacing Flat Rate Feed-in Tariffs for Rooftop Photo-voltaic Systems with a Dynamic One to Consider Technical, Environmental, Social and Geographical Factors

    摘要: A flat rate feed-in tariff (FiT) is a traditional incentive offered by many utilities around the world to encourage their customers to invest in electricity generation from renewable sources such as rooftop photovoltaic systems (RPVs). It is designed by financial techniques that mostly consider the initial capital cost and electricity spot price. However, such an incentive cannot help the utilities to address the technical challenges in networks with large renewable penetration. In this paper, a dynamic FiT is designed based on the value of electricity, hosting capacity, ambient temperature and time of day. The developed method uses Fuzzy logic to convert these parameters into a time-varying FiT. This FiT will specifically support utilities that experience challenges in the electrification of remote areas or observe excessive stress on their networks at demand peak periods. The proposed FiT encourages the rural customers to install RPVs while discouraging the urban customers from installing RPVs without battery storages. The performance of the developed FiT is validated numerically and its capability is evaluated by analyzing the annual revenue, net present value and payback periods.

  • Simplified Method for Analyzing the Availability of Rooftop Photovoltaic Potential

    摘要: This paper presents a new simpli?ed method for analyzing the availability of photovoltaic potential on roofs. Photovoltaic systems on roofs are widespread as they represent a sustainable and safe investment and, therefore, a means of energy self-su?ciency. With the growth of photovoltaic systems, it is also crucial to correctly evaluate their global e?ciency. Thus, this paper presents a comparison between known methods for estimating the photovoltaic potential (as physical, geographic and technical contributions) on a roof and proposes a new simpli?ed method, that takes into account the economic potential of a building that already has installed a photovoltaic system. The measured values of generated electricity of the photovoltaic system were compared with calculated photovoltaic potential. In general, the annual physical, geographic, technical and economic potentials were 1273.7, 1253.8, 14.2 MWh, and 279.1 Wh, respectively. The analysis of all four potentials is essential for further understanding of the sustainable and safe investment in photovoltaic systems.

    摘要: Virtual Power Plant (VPP) systems are highly advanced and innovative systems that take complex infrastructure to work in synergy, compared to the traditional transmission energy system. The ICT component of a VPP is highly developed with vigorous algorithms that help to achieve specific functions. Identification and control either by reception of status and signaling the Distributed Energy Resource (DER) is what makes VPP a more advanced energy sharing platform. Above all, it has a business model and this makes it exceptional over traditional transmission system. VPPs with different scales and different energy system coverages have recently been applied in countries such as USA, Belgium, Germany and Sweden. Many companies are nowadays venturing into these systems as they proof to be the future of distributed energy systems that aim to integrate renewable energy with traditional energy resources, with the objective of generating energy at low cost and ensuring consumers participate in its production as proconsumers. In this paper, recent VPP applications along with renewable energy resources used have been discussed and the main components that make up a VPP system efficient have been clearly outlined. As a result of this preliminary research, potential road map of local/regional utility companies in Turkey for applicable VPP management structure and software architecture is suggested.
