  • Energy Management and Coordinated Control Strategy of PV/HESS AC Microgrid during Islanded Operation

    摘要: An energy management control strategy is proposed for an islanded AC microgrid with the hybrid energy storage system (HESS) including the battery and the supercapacitor (SC). According to the state of charge(SOC) of the battery, the photovoltaic (PV) system can work in either maximum power point tracking (MPPT) mode or load power tracking (LPT) mode to prevent the battery from over charging. Similarly, the load shedding control (LSC) is adopted to prevent the battery from over discharging. A virtual impedance control strategy is proposed to achieve effective power sharing in hybrid energy storage systems, where battery provides steady state power and SC only supports transient power fluctuations. The terminal voltage of SC can be restored to the initial value automatically by introducing a high pass filter in the voltage control loop. The AC bus voltage maintains constant using the voltage secondary controller to compensate the voltage droop caused by the virtual impedance control strategy. Simulation results under typical working conditions verify the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

    摘要: The current robots follow clear, repetitive and logical instructions, but generally, they have problems in managing unstructured environments and reacting dynamically to these. Thus, modern robots require improved vision systems capable of obtaining information about such environments at a high acquisition rate and with high processing speeds. The growing demand for robotic platforms, both industrial and mobile, has greatly boosted the development of advanced vision systems. A weak point of traditional computer vision is that it depends on algorithms executed on a computer or server connected to the robot, often involving the need for high computing resources. Therefore, much of the efforts of the last decades have been focused on the improvement of those algorithms. Nevertheless, when the limit of traditional software processing systems (PCs, microcontrollers and microprocessors) is reached, it is necessary to migrate to a more versatile platform -which generally leads to hardware solutions-. The HW/SW design is possible because of high-frequency bridges between the Hard-Processor System (HPS) and the FPGA. Commonly, the most demanding tasks of the image processing are made in the FPGA, whereas the HPS handles the processed data and performs the high-level control function. This work presents a proposal for HW/SW integration using a SoC FPGA, for the images processing provided by the Intel Realsense?3D camera (an RGB-D sensor). This approach seeks to enhance the streamlining and ?ltering stages to obtain faster results compared to a traditional system.

    摘要: For the emerging field of flexible printed electronics, ink compatibility with substrate is always required. However, most of the commercial silver nanoparticle-based inks are not compatible with flexible substrates, as they need high- sintering temperatures (~150-250 0C). In addition, silver nanoparticle-based inks have several serious problems such as a complex synthesis protocol, high cost, particle aggregation, nozzle clogging, reduced shelf life, and jetting instability. These shortcomings in conductive inks are barriers for their wide spread use in practical applications. In this work, we demonstrate a silver-organo-complex (SOC) based particle free silver ink which can decompose at 80 0C and becomes conductive at this low temperature. The inkjet-printed film from this ink exhibits not only high conductivity but also excellent jetting and storage stability. To demonstrate the suitability of this ink for flexible electronics, an inkjet-printed film on flexible polyimide substrate is subjected to bending and crushing tests. The results before and after flexing and crushing are very similar, thus verifying the excellent tolerance against bending and crushing for this ink as compared to the commercial nanoparticles based ink.

    摘要: In this paper the design of an embedded vision system for structure from motion (SFM) computation is presented. The solution allows for scene depth reconstruction based on two consecutive video frames registered by a moving camera. The module is developed for a Xilinx Zynq SoC (System on Chip) device and is divided into a hardware and software part. The programmable logic (PL) is used mainly for detect and match features. Fundamental matrix estimation and triangulation are executed in the processing system (PS – ARM based). The module is dedicated to navigation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) – autonomous flight and landing. The system is adapted to process a 1280x720 pixel video stream @60 frames per second in real-time.

    摘要: In this paper hardware implementation of selected contextual based image pre-processing modules for a 3840×2160@60fps video stream in a Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC is discussed. The following operations are considered: simple averaging (box filter), Gaussian filter, edge detection using the Sobel and Canny methods, median filter and morphological erosion and dilation operations. The scheme for implementing contextual based operations for a video stream in the format of 2 and 4 pixels per clock and challenges related to the pipelined implementation of processing such data are described. Also the use of logic resources and energy efficiency of modules described in the Verilog hardware description language and using the High Level Synthesis tools (Vivado HLS, SDSoC and xfOpenCV library) are compared. All designed modules support real-time processing of a 4K@60fps video stream.

    摘要: In this paper, integration of photovoltaic (PV) system and battery storage is considered using Three-level T-Type inverter. To attain the highest efficiency, PV panels are considered to follow MPPT algorithm while batteries are operated based on their state of charge (SOC) condition. To provide distortion-free output current, it is essential considering unbalanced condition produced due to inconsistency of MPPT and SOC. Moreover, proper tradeoff between inverter and grid is realized so that inverter is automatically adapted with demand-power of grid. All the targets are carried out by proper control of Discontinuous PWM. The proposed method is evaluated by simulation study.

  • Two dimensional topological insulators in bilayer BiB

    摘要: With the help of ?rst-principles calculations, we propose a new type of two dimensional (2D) topological insulator BiB with bilayer hexagonal lattice. Its dynamic stability was con?rmed by the phonon spectrum. When spin-orbit coupling (SOC) e?ect is not considered, the low energy electronic states around the Fermi level show metallic characteristics. However, the SOC will induce a global band gap and turn this 2D material into topological insulators with nontrivial edge states. Surprisingly, two mechanisms, including crystal ?eld and strong SOC, induce two band inversions and manipulate the low energy electronic states simultaneously. The BiB provides a fertile platform for studying the interactions between the two di?erent mechanisms in the same topological insulator. Moreover, the sizable global nontrivial band gap indicates its high working temperature.

  • Background Light Rejection in SPAD-Based LiDAR Sensors by Adaptive Photon Coincidence Detection

    摘要: Light detection and ranging (LiDAR) systems based on silicon single-photon avalanche diodes (SPAD) offer several advantages, like the fabrication of system-on-chips with a co-integrated detector and dedicated electronics, as well as low cost and high durability due to well-established CMOS technology. On the other hand, silicon-based detectors suffer from high background light in outdoor applications, like advanced driver assistance systems or autonomous driving, due to the limited wavelength range in the infrared spectrum. In this paper we present a novel method based on the adaptive adjustment of photon coincidence detection to suppress the background light and simultaneously improve the dynamic range. A major disadvantage of fixed parameter coincidence detection is the increased dynamic range of the resulting event rate, allowing good measurement performance only at a specific target reflectance. To overcome this limitation we have implemented adaptive photon coincidence detection. In this technique the parameters of the photon coincidence detection are adjusted to the actual measured background light intensity, giving a reduction of the event rate dynamic range and allowing the perception of high dynamic scenes. We present a 192 × 2 pixel CMOS SPAD-based LiDAR sensor utilizing this technique and accompanying outdoor measurements showing the capability of it. In this sensor adaptive photon coincidence detection improves the dynamic range of the measureable target reflectance by over 40 dB.

  • Osmium sensitizer with enhanced spin-orbit coupling for panchromatic dye-sensitized solar cells

    摘要: Low-lying triplet metal-to-ligand charge transfer (3MLCT) transitions of osmium complexes induced by spin-orbit coupling (SOC) is promising to extend photocurrent response when applied to dye-sensitized solar cells. In this study, we present a newly designed osmium complex (coded CYC-33O), incorporating a 2-thiohexyl-3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene functionalized bipyridyl ancillary ligand to red-shift the absorption and enhance the absorbance of both singlet and triplet MLCT transitions. Time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) calculations clearly signify the reinforced 1MLCT and 3MLCT transitions of CYC-33O mainly originate from osmium to 4,4',4"-tricarboxy-2,2':6',2"-terpyridine anchoring ligand, advantaging the heterogeneous electron transfer between CYC-33O and TiO2. The device sensitized with CYC-33O exhibits the panchromatic conversion beyond 1000 nm, yielding the photocurrent density of 19.38 mA cm–2 which is much higher than those of the cells based on the ruthenium analogue (CYC-33R) and model osmium complex (Os-3) sensitizers.

    摘要: This paper aims to develop a low-cost energy storage system by evaluating reference generation algorithms for dispatching solar power for 1 MW photovoltaic (PV) arrays. Based on battery state of charge (SOC), rule-based algorithms are developed to adjust the grid reference power for each one-hour dispatching period. In this paper, several rule-based algorithms are used to control the SOC of the battery that plays a significant role to design cost-effective energy storage system. The price comparison is made between two kinds of energy storage system (i) Battery only (ii) Battery+ Supercapacitor (SC), where a low pass filter is used to allocate power between battery and SC. The most economical energy storage system is developed through extensive simulations in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The results show that the hybrid energy storage system (HESS), combination of battery and SC, outperforms a battery-only operation.
