    摘要: Proposed hybrid electric power generation system is constituted from Free Piston Stirling engine generator and solar photovoltaic system. Free Piston Stirling engine electric generator uses biomass, such as wood pellets as the heat source. This system produces maximum output of 1.6kW and 45°C 200L hot water with linear generator. This paper studied the control of output voltage of Free Piston Stirling Engine. ILQ (Inverse Linear Quadratic) control theory is used to keep output active power between 400W and 500W. In long range time constant of burning system and in short range time constant of electrical circuit, experiment yields temperature of FPSEG head between upper limit and lower limit.

  • Theoretical Analysis of Hybrid Dense-Array Concentrator Photovoltaic and Stirling Engine System

    摘要: In this paper, we analyse the performance of newly proposed hybrid dense-array concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) and gamma type low temperature differential (LTD) Stirling engine. Schmidt Analysis was applied to compute the performance of LTD Stirling engine while computational fluid dynamic was employed to simulate the heat transfer in the CPV receiver. The simulated result was subsequently used to determine the power conversion efficiency of the hybrid system. Three major parameters have been considered to optimize the overall system performance including water inlet temperature, water flow rate, and CPV surface temperature. In our theoretical analysis, the highest efficiency of the hybrid system ranging 37.8 - 38.0 % can be achieved at water inlet temperature of 90°C. It has shown significant improvement by producing 10.1 -10.7 % extra energy as compared to the efficiency of CPV system without waste heat recovery.

  • Experimental analysis and numerical validation of the solar Dish/Stirling system connected to the electric grid

    摘要: The use of solar-powered Stirling engines to convert thermal energy into electricity is a promising and renewable technological solution that can contribute to reducing dependence on fossil fuels for electricity generation. Unfortunately, the lack of experimental performance data and operating parameters for this type of technology limits its detailed characterization, difficult its modeling and design and consequently its utilization. This paper aims to validate the mathematical model of the Dish/Stirling system previously published by Mendoza et al. (2017) with the TRINUM system, installed at the Federal University of Itajubá-Brazil. For nominal conditions, the Dish/Stirling system generates an electric power of 1.00 kW at a solar irradiation of 725 W/m2 with a system overall efficiency of 17.6%. The results show that for solar irradiance values between 520 and 950 W/m2 the experimental tests and the results of the mathematical modeling do not present considerable differences, obtaining an electric power of 1,089 kWe and an efficiency of 17.98%, which represents deviations in the range of 2% to 12%.

    摘要: Growing energy consumption leads to discovery of new technology to accommodate global energy demand. Stirling Engine is one of the traditional engine which can harvest solar energy with minimal modification on the configuration. This paper covers literature review on Solar Powered Stirling Engine technology. The development of traditional Stirling Engine will be discussed on earlier part. The second part covers the integration of solar power with Stirling Engine and application of this combined system in industry. There were many researches and studies carried out previously on the development and application of traditional Stirling Engine and solar powered Stirling Engine. This paper is focus on optimization of performance of Solar Powered Stirling which will provide comprehensive details on the factor needed to be optimized in order to develop all rounded Solar Stirling Engine for future studies.

  • Modelling, simulation and thermal analysis of a solar dish/Stirling system: A case study in Natal, Brazil

    摘要: In this paper, a methodology is developed to evaluate the performance of a solar system composed of a Stirling engine and a solar dish. There are four models to be assessed: theoretical model of solar irradiation, model of parabolic solar dish, thermal model of receiver and prediction model of Stirling engine performance. A case of study will analyse a city named Natal-RN, located in Rio Grande do Norte state, Brazil. This city has high annual rates of solar irradiation. Tonatiuh software is used to evaluate parabolic dishes applying the Monte Carlo Ray Tracing method. Furthermore, a prediction model of Stirling engine performance is reformulated using 26 engines data. This reformulation allows error reduction in the prediction of four parameters when compared with the original Iwamoto’s model: 40.0% in the maximum output power, 31.0% in the output power at maximum efficiency, 12.1% in the engine speed at maximum output power and 55.8% in the engine speed at maximum efficiency. The behaviour of the system, NS03T Stirling engine and solar dish, is assessed using experimental data of a Brazilian program named SONDA. At Natal-RN, it is noticed that the maximum output power reached by NS03T is higher than 1.6 kW and its global efficiency is higher than 19% between 12 h and 15 h, reaching 26% at 11 h. This values are referent to April, which is the month that represents the average solar characteristics during the year of 2015.
