摘要: This paper presents a new methodology to determine the position of a magnetically guided robot (MGR) in horizontal planes using magnetic ?ux sensors. This position determination methodology can be used independently as well as in collaboration with optical sensors in the case of the optical blockage. A combination of linear Hall-effect sensors (two sensors for each axis of motion) was employed to measure the magnetic ?ux in the MGR’s working space. A con?guration of several electromagnets was used as a source of magnetic ?eld, and an analytical model of the system is developed. The MGR’s position was determined based on the polynomial relation between the Hall-effect sensors’ output and the location of the minimum magnetic potential energy point in horizontal planes. Using the cross-validation method, it was found that a fourth-order polynomial model could accurately predict the MGR’s position. Experiments were conducted on a horizontal plane to validate the performance of position estimation using the magnetic ?ux sensing method. The accuracy of the position determination method was 0.4-mm root-mean-square errors in both the x- and y-direction over 8 × 8 mm2 working area. This paper also experimentally validates a combined optical-magnetic position determination technique for the motion control of a magnetically guided robot in optical blockage conditions as unknown environment that can be used as a promising replacement of X-ray and ultrasound techniques.

Fiber Laser || Passive Q-switched and Mode-locked Fiber Lasers Using Carbon-based Saturable Absorbers
摘要: This chapter aims to familiarize readers with general knowledge of passive Q-switched and mode-locked fiber lasers. It emphasizes on carbon-based saturable absorbers, namely graphene and carbon nanotubes (CNTs); their unique electronic band structures and optical characteristics. The methods of incorporating these carbon-based saturable absorbers into fiber laser cavity will also be discussed. Lastly, several examples of experiments where carbon-based saturable absorbers were used in generating passive Q-switched and mode-locked fiber lasers are demonstrated.

Polarization diversity circuit based on silica waveguides and photonic crystal waveplates for a 4??4 silicon optical switch
摘要: We propose a compact polarization diversity circuit for a silicon waveguide device. It consists of silica waveguides and photonic crystal waveplates, and can convert input light with various polarization states into two output light signals with the same polarization. Setting these circuits at the front and rear of two silicon optical switches, the polarization dependence in the switch can be dramatically suppressed. We fabricated polarization diversity circuits for a 4×4 silicon optical switch and realized a polarization insensitive 4×4 optical switch. The polarization dependent loss was reduced to 1.1 dB and the polarization dependent crosstalk was less than ?17 dB.

摘要: Improving quality of life (QOL) has become an important issue for patients with neurological diseases such as ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and SMA (spinal atrophy). At the same time, it is indispensable to secure a communication device that displays its own intention, and various interfaces have been proposed. In this research, we developed a glasses-type switching wearable device focusing on eyeball movement. Here, images around the eyeball were obtained by USB-camera equipped with infrared LEDs, and pupils were extracted by Hough transform procedure. Furthermore, in order to apply a communication aid operation, a detection model of the line-of-sight direction was constructed by acquiring the coordinates of the cornea surface reflection image.

Maximal entanglement and switch squeezing with atom coupled to cavity field and graphene membrane
摘要: In this paper, we investigate the entanglement and squeezing dynamics of the system consisting of an atom coupled to a cavity field and the graphene membrane using dressed states. The effect of the atomic coherent angle on the time evolution of the entanglement and the quadrature squeezing is discussed. We show that the maximally entangled state between the atom and the mechanical resonator can be created. It is found that the entanglement between the atom and the cavity field increases with the increases in the coherent angle. We demonstrate how to switch from no squeezing to large squeezing by manipulating the initial state of an atom. Moreover, the periodic phonon field squeezed state with long time and high degree can be generated, which has a potential application in the field of high-precision measurement and quantum information processing.

An isolated single-switch high step-up DC/DC converter with three-winding transformer for solar photovoltaic applications
摘要: An isolated single-switch high step-up DC/DC converter for solar photovoltaic applications is presented in this paper. The proposed isolated converter consists of a single switch, two voltage doubler circuits and a three-winding transformer. The four capacitors in the voltage doubler circuits are charged in parallel and are discharged in series by the secondary and tertiary winding of the three-winding transformer to attain a high step-up voltage gain. In addition, the voltage doubler circuits absorb energy in parallel, which, in turn, signi?cantly alleviates the voltage stress on the switch with low turns ratio and low duty cycle. The converter operation principle and steady-state analysis of the isolated high gain converter for continuous conduction mode are presented in detail. Laboratory tests and simulation using MATLAB/Simulink are carried out with a prototype of 80 W converter. The predicted and test results establish a close agreement between the validity of the analysis and the viability of the proposed circuit.

All-Optical Wavelength Conversion in an InP Photonic Integrated Turbo-Switch
摘要: We experimentally demonstrate all-optical wavelength conversion of 56 Gb/s non-return-to-zero (NRZ) signals in an Indium Phosphide (InP) photonic integrated circuit implementing a turbo-switch. The circuit consists of two cascaded semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) with a bandpass filter in between. In this configuration, cross gain modulation (XGM) between a modulated input signal and a continuous wave (CW) light in the first SOA allows to generate a wavelength converted copy of the input signal, while the second SOA, fed by the probe signal selected by the filter, ensures a fast gain recovery. Operations in down- and up-conversion are shown by ER and BER measurements, demonstrating the effectiveness of the photonic integrated circuit (PIC).

A graphene quantum dots-Pb2+ based fluorescent switch for selective and sensitive determination of D-penicillamine
摘要: Taking consideration of metal-induced fluorescence quenching and excellent coordination effect of D-penicillamine (D-PA), a graphene quantum dots (GQDs)-based fluorescent switch for D-PA detection was designed and established firstly with the help of lead ions. GQDs obtained from citric acids made them rich in carboxyl and hydroxyl groups, giving GQDs the ability to combine with lead ions. As anticipated, the fluorescence intensity was quenched by Pb2+ through electron transfer process. Further, the addition of D-PA effectively recovered the fluorescence due to the departure of Pb2+ from GQDs aroused by the strong coordination between D-PA and Pb2+. Thus, a fluorescent switch was activated for D-PA detection. The fluorescence recovery efficiencies were found to be proportional to the concentration of D-PA in the range of 0.6–50 μmol L-1 and the detection limit was 0.47 μmol L-1. The real sample detection was performed in human urea sample and satisfactory recoveries of 96.84%-102.13% were obtained. The GQDs-Pb2+ based fluorescent switch sensing method was firstly established with low detection limit and wide linear range, making it a supplement and improvement for D-PA detection.
