摘要: Disordered ionic-bonded transition metal oxide thin-film transistors (TFTs) show promise for a variety of dc and RF switching applications, especially those that can leverage their low-temperature, substrate-agnostic process integration potential. In this paper, enhancement-mode zinc-oxide TFTs were fabricated and their switching performance evaluated. These TFTs exhibit the drain-current density of 0.6 A/mm and minimal frequency dispersion, as evidenced by dynamic current–voltage tests. A high-frequency power switch figure of merit RON QG of 359 mΩ · nC was experimentally determined for 0.75-μm long-channel devices, and through scaling 45.9 mΩ · nC is achievable for 11 V-rated devices (where RON is ON-state drain–source resistance, and QG is gate charge). An RF switch cutoff frequency fc of 25 GHz was measured for the same 0.75-μm TFT, whereas fc exceeding 500 GHz and power handling in the tens of watts are projected with optimization.

Research on optimum slowly-rising driver for electro-optic Q-switched laser
摘要: Electro-optic Q-switch drivers that based on pulse transformer method have been widely used in laser engineering because of the advantages of concise circuits, low supply voltage, low lost, etc., but the long rise time and short pulse duration of the high voltage (HV) pulses have a considerable effect on the Q-switched laser outputs. In this paper, we experimentally investigated the dependence of Q-switched laser outputs on the rise rate of slowly-rising HV pulses in a flash pumped Nd:YAG laser with variable cavity lengths. LiNbO3 Q-switches with various dimensions were used. Based on the experiment results, the optimum slowly-rising HV pulses for any EO Q-switched laser were derived, the only requirement is that voltage near dynamic quarter-wave voltage during the emission of laser pulses. Additionally, the optimum outputs were found to be consistent with the results obtained by using a rapid-switching driver with a rise time of 7 ns. The optimum range of applied voltage was determined to be 0.88 – 1.12 times dynamic quarter-wave voltage.

Functionalized polymer waveguide optical switching devices integrated with visible optical amplifiers based on an organic gain material
摘要: In this work, polymer waveguide based optical switching devices integrated with visible optical amplifying waveguides based on an organic gain material are designed and fabricated. The gain compound is a red emissive oligomer, with good dispersibility in organic polymer matrices. Optical characteristics and thermal stabilities of the active polymer waveguide core and cladding materials are analyzed. Optical gain of the amplifier operating at 650 nm red signal wavelength with 0.1 mW input power is found to be over 3.5 dB under only 1.6 mW pumping power with 532 nm green excitation light. The on-off response time of the integrated thermo-optic switch applied is measured to be 600 μs, with switching extinction ratio of 20 dB and electric switching power of 18.5 mW. The integrated switching device capable of optical gain will be suitable for applications to optical communications at the visible wavelength range involving plastic optical fiber systems.

摘要: A time-delay switch (TDS) attack on a control system is caused by adversaries that strategically imbed time delays into such systems. TDS attacks can make a control system, or more speci?cally a distributed power control system, unstable. Time delays can be introduced in the sensing loop (SL) or control lines. This paper describes a novel, simple, and effective method to thwart TDS attacks on SL. The proposed method works by augmenting the controller with a time-delay estimator to estimate any time delays. The modi?ed controller controls the system under TDS attack. Also, the time-delay estimator will track time delays introduced by an adversary using a modi?ed model reference control with an indirect supervisor and a modi?ed least mean square minimization technique.

Tri-post resonator in a rectangular waveguide
摘要: A novel three-in-one waveguide resonator is proposed in the paper. The resonator is composed of three rectangular partial-height posts inserted along a rectangular waveguide cross-section. A pair of posts is mounted symmetrically whereas the third antipodal post is centered. The resonator provides a bandstop response if all the posts are of equal height. Both singlet-type and pseudoelliptic characteristics are achieved if one of the posts differs by its height. Both symmetric and asymmetric configurations are considered. Besides, it is demonstrated that the asymmetric resonator acts as a switching waveguide filter providing the ON and the OFF states to allow/block the signal propagation in a narrow vicinity of a given frequency. A parametric numerical study is performed in order to demonstrate a transformation of the response Measurement data are presented for a single-standing resonator and a two-section pseudoelliptic filter in WR90 waveguide.

摘要: Transformer parasitics such as leakage inductance and self-capacitance are rarely calculated in advance during the design phase, because of the complexity and huge analytical error margins caused by practical winding implementation issues. Thus, choosing one transformer architecture over another for a given design is usually based on experience or a trial and error approach. This paper presents analytical expressions for calculating leakage inductance, self-capacitance, and ac resistance in transformer winding architectures (TWAs), ranging from the common noninterleaved primary/secondary winding architecture, to an interleaved, sectionalized, and bank winded architecture. The calculated results are evaluated experimentally, and through finite-element simulations, for an RM8 transformer with a turns ratio of 10. The four TWAs such as, noninterleaved and nonsectioned, noninterleaved and sectioned, interleaved and nonsectioned, and interleaved and sectioned, for an EF25 transformer with a turns ratio of 20, are investigated and practically implemented. The best TWA for an RM8 transformer in a high-voltage bidirectional flyback converter, used to drive an electro active polymer based incremental actuator, is identified based on the losses caused by the transformer parasitics. For an EF25 transformer, the best TWA is chosen according to whether electromagnetic interference due to the transformer interwinding capacitance, is a major problem or not.

摘要: One method of mitigating arc flash hazards associated with medium-voltage switchgear is the installation of active high-speed switch (HSS) systems. These systems are designed to detect and quench a burning internal arc in less than one-third of one electrical cycle. The internal arc is extinguished by the HSS’s action of redirecting the fault current path from arcing through open air back to the intended current path of the switchgear bus. The new low-impedance current path provided by the HSS operation collapses the voltage at the point of the fault to near zero so that the arc is no longer sustainable. The system’s high speed of operation compared to arc quenching via circuit breaker tripping translates directly to lower arc flash incident energy and minimal equipment damage. Another benefit of such active high speed systems could include switchgear compliance to the IEEE C37.20.7 guide for testing arc-resistant metal-enclosed switchgear without any arc by-product venting requirements. This paper explores application considerations of HSS systems relative to other available means of controlling and reducing the hazards of internal arcing faults in medium-voltage switchgear.

Signal-switchable lab-on-paper photoelectrochemical aptasensing system integrated triple-helix molecular switch with charge separation and recombination regime of type-II CdTe@CdSe core-shell quantum dots
摘要: Herein, a new “on-off-on” signal switch system combined triple helix molecular switch with efficient charge separation and transfer between different sensitization units was designed for the ultrasensitive photoelectrochemical (PEC) determination of prostate-specific antigen (PSA). Concretely, the initial “signal-on” state was obtained via the cascaded sensitization structure consisting of type-II CdTe@CdSe core-shell quantum dots (QDs), CdS QDs, and ZnO nanotubes, which were assembled on Au nanoparticles modified paper fibers with the aid of signal transduction probe (STP). Thereinto, the type-II CdTe@CdSe QDs with hole-localizing core and electron-localizing shell could enable the ultrafast charge transfer and retard the charge recombination, magnifying the initial photocurrent response and preserving the high efficiency of signal-switchable PEC aptasensing system. Subsequently, the PSA aptamer (PSA-Apt) modified with gold nanoparticles (GNPs) was introduced by the hybridization of PSA-Apt with STP and the hairpin configuration of STP changed from closed to open state, forming a triple-helix structure. Hence, the CdTe@CdSe QDs labeled on the terminal of STP moved away from the electrode surface while the GNPs kept attached close to it. The proposed aptasensor turned to “signal-off” state because of the dual inhibition of vanished cosensitization effect and signal quenching effect of GNPs. Upon the target recognition, the triple-helix structure was perturbed with the formation of DNA-protein complex and the recovery of STP hairpin structure, resulting in the second “switch-on” state. Based on the target-induced photocurrent enhancement, the proposed PEC aptasensor was utilized for the determination of PSA with high sensitivity, persuasive selectivity, and excellent stability.

摘要: A particle ?lter (PF)-based robust navigation with fault diagnosis (FD) is designed for an underwater robot, where 10 failure modes of sensors and thrusters are considered. The nominal underwater robot and its anomaly are described by a switching-mode hidden Markov model. By extensively running a PF on the model, the FD and robust navigation are achieved. Closed-loop full-scale experimental results show that the proposed method is robust, can diagnose faults effectively, and can provide good state estimation even in cases where multiple faults occur. Comparing with other methods, the proposed method can diagnose all faults within a single structure, diagnose simultaneous faults, and it is easily implemented.

Doubly passively Q-switched Tm:YAP laser with MoS2 and WS2 saturable absorbers at 2 μm
摘要: By simultaneously inserting MoS2 and WS2 saturable absorbers (SAs) into laser resonator, a doubly passively Q-switched Tm:YAP laser at 2 μm was realized. Measurements of the average output power, the pulse width and the pulse repetition frequency (RF) have been undertaken. In comparison to singly Q-switched laser using MoS2 or WS2, the doubly Q-switched laser using both MoS2 and WS2 can generate more stable pulse trains with shorter pulse width and higher peak power. At the absorbed pump power of 6.04 W, the maximum peak power of 22.4 W and the shortest pulse width of 249.4 ns were obtained. While for singly Q-switched laser using MoS2 or WS2, they were 10.7 W, 528.4 ns and 14.4 W, 458.8 ns. The experimental results hit at a conclusion that the doubly passively Q-switched operation is an e?cient way to compress the pulse width, improve the peak power and enhance the stability of pulse trains at 2 μm waveband laser.
