  • Ag/Tio <sub/>2</sub> /AOF as an Easily Reused and Highly Active Catalyst for Dye Photo-Degradation

    摘要: A novel TiO2 loaded with Ag photocatalyst covering on a modified fiber surface was prepared by a coordination-hydrolysis combined with photo-reduction process. The samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscope (XPS) and ultraviolet visible diffuse reflectance spectra (UV-vis DRS). Compared with powder TiO2, the TiO2/amidoxime fiber (TiO2/AOF) and Ag/TiO2/amidoxime fiber (Ag/TiO2/AOF) exhibited a significant absorption edge of red-shift from ultraviolet to visible light region. The samples’ activities were investigated and the results showed that Ag/TiO2/AOFs exhibit excellent photocatalytic activities-about 99% decomposition rate of Rhodamine B with 100 minutes of visible light irradiation. The catalyst exhibits excellent catalytic activity and is easily recovered and reused.

  • 141 Induction Heating of TiO 2 Coating on SS Substrate for Photocatalysis 2016 60 3 Induction Heating Consolidation of TiO 2 Sol-Gel Coating on Stainless Steel Support for Photocatalysis Applications

    摘要: A high-frequency induction heater was used to sinter titanium dioxide thin film on stainless steel plates with the aim of being used as photo-electrodes in wastewaters treatment. To validate the use of this sintering technique, the electrodes were prepared using sol-gel and dip-coating, followed by two different annealing processes for comparison: a conventional furnace and a high-frequency induction heating. To characterize the electrodes, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrochemical and photocatalysis tests were performed. Anatase and rutile phases were obtained for both annealing techniques. A more regular surface morphology was achieved via the induction heating (IH) treatment at 300 oC. The impedance study showed a lower resistance of IH samples, representing an improvement in the charge carrier separation and its fast transfer to the surface of the electrode. The photo-oxidation of methylene blue exhibited a higher degradation compared with the conventional furnace samples prepared in this study.

  • Label-free immunosensors based on a novel multi-amplification signal strategy of TiO2-NGO/Au@Pd hetero-nanostructures

    摘要: A label-free electrochemical immunosensor for quantitative detection of human epididymis specific protein 4 antigen (HE4 Ag) was developed by a novel multi-amplification signal system. The multi-amplification signal system was formed by loading bimetallic Au@Pd holothurian-shaped nanoparticles (Au@Pd HSs) on titanium oxide nanoclusters functionalized nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide (TiO2-NGO). The Au@Pd HSs were obtained via seed-mediated approach with in-situ grown palladium nanoarms on gold nanorods (Au NRs) surfaces, which possessed good electrocatalysis for hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) reduction and excellent biocompatibility. The TiO2-NGO with the high catalytic activity and large specific surface area was synthesized by hydrothermal method. Using H2O2 as an electrochemically active substrate, the prepared label-free electrochemical immunosensor based on the TiO2-NGO/Au@Pd HSs hetero-nanostructures as the signal amplification platform exhibited excellent selectivity, reproducibility and stability for the detection of HE4 Ag. Meanwhile, the linear range from 40 fM to 60 nM with the detection limit of 13.33 fM (S/N = 3) was obtained, indicating the immunosensor offers a promising method for clinical detection of HE4 Ag.

  • Photocatalytic oxidation of thiophene over cerium doped TiO2 thin film

    摘要: Samples of TiO2 and TiO2 doped with 2% and 8% cerium ions were prepared by a sol-gel method and used as photocatalysts for the oxidation of vaporized thiophene. X-ray diffraction patterns showed a mixed phase of anatase and rutile for TiO2, while 2%Ce/TiO2 and 8%Ce/TiO2 were dominated by the anatase phase. As seen in the transmission electron microscopy image, the particle size of Ce/TiO2 was about 10 nm which was smaller than the undoped TiO2. The extended x-rays absorption fine structures revealed the substitutional effect of cerium in the TiO2 structure. Cerium-doped TiO2 exhibited a smaller photocurrent compared to that of TiO2, which suggested the electrons were trapped by cerium ions. In situ diffuse reflectance infrared spectroscopy under UV irradiation and x-ray photoemission spectroscopy were used to investigate the photocatalytic oxidation of thiophene on the prepared catalysts. Doping of cerium ions in TiO2 resulted in an enhanced adsorption of thiophene on the catalyst surface. The oxidation products of carboxylic acid with small amounts of sulfate ions were observed. As seen from the infrared absorption spectrum, 2%Ce/TiO2 and 8%Ce/TiO2 exhibited higher photocatalytic activity than those of the undoped TiO2.

  • Diversity of TiO <sub/>2</sub> : Controlling the Molecular and Electronic Structure of Atomic-Layer-Deposited Black TiO <sub/>2</sub>

    摘要: Visually black, electrically leaky, amorphous titania (am-TiO2) thin films were grown by atomic layer deposition (ALD) for photocatalytic applications. Broad spectral absorbance in the visible range and exceptional conductivity are attributed to trapped Ti3+ in the film. Oxidation of Ti3+ upon heat treatment leads to a drop in conductivity, a color change from black to white and crystallization of am-TiO2. ALD grown black TiO2, without any heat treatment, is subject to dissolution in alkaline photoelectrochemical conditions. The best photocatalytic activity for solar water splitting is obtained for completely crystalline white TiO2.

  • Characterization of the morphology of titanium and titanium (IV) oxide nanolayers deposited on different substrates by application of grazing incidence X-ray diffraction and X-ray reflectometry techniques

    摘要: X-ray diffraction (XRD), grazing incidence X-ray diffraction (GIXRD) and X-ray reflectometry (XRR) techniques were applied for analysis of titanium (Ti) and titanium (IV) oxide (TiO2) nanolayers with thickness of 25 nm, 50 nm and 75 nm deposited on silicon, quartz and BK7 glass substrates. The aim of studies was investigating the crystal structure and morphology of the nanolayers in dependence on the substrate type. The chemical phases of nanolayers and substrates were determined by using the XRD and GIXRD measurements. The benefits of applying low angle GIXRD and XRR analytical techniques, both for substrate and nanofilm analysis, is discussed based on theoretical calculations and simulations. Additional, analytical capabilities of the XRR technique to nanolayer and substrate morphology analysis are presented. Simulated XRR curves for titanium (Ti) and titanium (IV) oxide nanolayers are discussed depending on the substrate type as well as the substrate and nanolayer roughnesses. Experimental reflectometry curves are presented for all titanium and titanium (IV) oxide nanolayers deposited on the different substrates. As the result of the XRR analysis, the nanolayer thickness and roughness together with substrate roughness are estimated. The mean values of the Ti and TiO2 layer thickness and roughness are presented for all studied samples. The largest roughness, both for nanolayers and for substrates, is obtained for BK7 glass material. In the manuscript, sample properties, experimental setups and measurement conditions are presented in details.

  • Hydration accelerator and photocatalyst of nanotitanium dioxide synthesized via surfactant-assisted method in cement mortar

    摘要: To develop TiO2-based cement materials, the effect of TiO2 on the cement hydration and photocatalytic reaction should be investigated. The phase, size and shape of TiO2 are important factors for better understanding its application in cement. TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by a surfactant-assisted, reverse micelle method to control phase, size and shape by three selected surfactants namely: sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), cetyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and TritonX-100. The synthesized TiO2 nanoparticles were characterized by XRD, SEM and TEM for observation of phase, size and shape. The modified micro structures of admixed cements with the different synthesized TiO2 nanoparticles incorporated were also examined by SEM. Particularly, the hydration process and photocatalytic reaction of the cement mixture were evaluated by heat flow calorimetry and methylene blue (MB) degradation, respectively. Results showed that anatase-rich and smaller size TiO2 nanoparticles provided accelerated cement hydration and the ability to degrade MB photocatalytically at the surface of admixed-TiO2 cement.

  • Thermal decomposition of bimetallic titanium complexes: A new method for synthesizing doped titanium nano-sized catalysts and photocatalytic application

    摘要: In this study, synthesis of bimetallic (Co, Mn, and Ni) complexes of salicylic acid (L1) and 1,2 dihydroxybenzene (L2) based on titanium(IV) were investigated, then the samples were decomposed by thermal method to obtain MxTiyOz nanoparticles (M = Ni, Co, and Mn). The samples in complexes mode were analyzed by UV–Vis (200–800 nm), FT-IR (4000–400 Cm?1), CHN analysis and the structure of the bimetallic compounds also were investigated by the Quantum-chemical modelling. In addition, the samples in nanoparticles mode were studied by thermal analysis (to obtain DTA curves), XRD, FESEM image and EDX analyzing. BET surface analysis was carried out to analyze active surface, pore diameter and porosity of the MxTiyOz nanoparticles. Based on the results, obtained samples as catalysts were able to absorb not just UV but also visible light. Catalysts were able to degrade bromophenol blue as a harmful organic substance under UV and visible lights, although, this ability was more significant when the samples were used under visible light.

  • The cost-effective deposition of ultra-thin titanium(IV) oxide passivating layers for improving photoelectrochemical activity of SnS electrodes

    摘要: The structures of tin monosulfide (SnS) with the surface modified by ultrathin titanium(IV) oxide layers for potential photoinduced water splitting were successfully fabricated. SnS thin films were deposited onto glass/Mo substrates using high vacuum evaporation (HVE) method, and then a simple and cost-effective deposition-annealing cycling process was used to prepare titanium(IV) oxide passivated SnS structures. The resulting compositional properties were studied using X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, high resolution scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). The effects of titanium(IV) oxide layers on the photo-electrochemical (PEC) activity of fabricated p-type SnS thin-film electrodes were examined in this study. The SnS layers passivated with titanium(IV) oxide exhibited reducing the SnS-electrolyte interface resistance, increasing the photocurrent and improving the efficiency of PEC cells as deleterious reactions are inhibited. The various electrochemical methods such as current-voltage measurements, cyclic voltammetry, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were used to characterise and analyse SnS structures modified by titanium(IV) oxide.

  • Non-Evaporable Getter (NEG) Coating Using Titanium and Palladium Vacuum Sublimation

    摘要: We have developed a new non-evaporable getter (NEG) coating using titanium and palladium vacuum sublimation. The inner wall of the test chamber was coated with a 1-μm Ti thin film using the Ti sublimation pumps under a vacuum of 6.5×10?? Pa (Ti-coated chamber). This chamber was then coated with a 10-nm Pd thin film using the Pd sublimation filament under a vacuum of 2.4×10?? Pa (Pd/Ti-coated chamber). The uncoated, Ti-coated, and Pd/Ti-coated chambers were baked for 6 h at a maximum temperature of 185°C. Five hours after closing the valve, the pressures in the Pd/Ti-coated chamber were about 1.4×10?? Pa even after six heating–venting cycles. The relatively low activation temperature was attributed to the low concentration of oxygen in the Pd/Ti thin films. The Pd/Ti coating can be used for vacuum systems that are frequently vented.
