  • P‐8.9: Full‐color GaN‐based LED Micro‐display Integrated with Dynamic Color Filter

    摘要: In recent years, how to realize the color display of GaN-based LED micro-display has become a great challenge. This paper describes a full-color LED micro-display system based on time- dynamic color filter, which can achieve high resolution and low cost. Besides, the system has flexible structure and can be adjusted freely according to various applications.

  • Investigating the efficiency of α-Bismuth zinc oxide heterostructure composite/UV-LED in methylene blue dye removal and evaluation of its antimicrobial activity.

    摘要: Heterostructured α-Bismuth zinc oxide (α-Bi2O3-ZnO) photocatalyst was fabricated by a facile and cost-effective, ultrasound assisted chemical precipitation method followed by hydrothermal growth technique. As synthesized α-Bi2O3-ZnO photocatalyst showed enhanced photocatalytic performance for the MB dye degradation in contrast to pure ZnO and α-Bi2O3. Light emitting diodes (UV-LED) were used in the experimental setup, which has several advantages over conventional lamps like wavelength selectivity, high efficacy, less power consumption, long lifespan, no disposal problem, no warming-up time, compactness, easy and economic installation. XRD study confirmed the presence of both the lattice phases i.e. monoclinic and hexagonal wurtzite phase corresponding to α-Bi2O3 and ZnO in the α-Bi2O3-ZnO composite photocatalyst. FESEM images showed that α-Bi2O3-ZnO photocatalyst is composed of dumbbell like structures of ZnO with breadth ranging 4-5 μm and length ranging from 10 to 11 μm respectively. It was observed that α-Bi2O3 nanoparticles were attached on the ZnO surface and were in contact with each other. Low recombination rate of photo-induced electron-hole pairs, due to the migration of electrons and holes between the photocatalyst could be responsible for the 100 % photocatalytic efficiency of α-Bi2O3-ZnO composite. In addition, photocatalyst was also observed to show the excellent antimicrobial activity with 1.5 cm zone of inhibition for 1 mg/L dose, against the human pathogenic bacteria (S. aureus).

  • Cu-S codoping TiO <sub/>2</sub> /SiO <sub/>2</sub> and TiO <sub/>2</sub> /SiO <sub/>2</sub> /Fe <sub/>3</sub> O <sub/>4</sub> core-shell nanocomposites as a novel purple LED illumination active photocatalyst for degradation of diclofenac: the effect of different scavenger agents and optimization

    摘要: Cu-S co-doped TiO2/SiO2 as a novel photocatalyst which is active in visible light was synthesized by simple sol-gel method. Also, Fe3O4 nanoparticles were used as the core to create a magnetically separable photocatalyst. The prepared samples were characterized by XRD, BET, BJH, DRS-UV/Vis, PL, FESEM, EDX, TEM, XPS, and VSM analysis. The photocatalytic effect of synthesized samples was examined on diclofenac (as a model hazardous contaminant) degradation. The central composite design was employed to optimize the operational parameters including irradiation time, pH, photocatalyst mass, and diclofenac concentration, whose optimal values were 213.85 min, 4.31, 0.06 g, and 10.25 mg L?1 for irradiation time, pH, photocatalyst mass, and diclofenac concentration, respectively. Under the optimum conditions, the photocatalytic degradation percentages of diclofenac at desirability function value of 1.0 were found to be 99.56%. The photocatalytic activity of the nanoparticles was also studied under sunlight. Overall, the UV/Vis spectrophotometry and total organic carbon results indicated that the synthesized nanoparticles have an extraordinary photocatalytic activity for the degradation of diclofenac under both purple LED and solar lights. Furthermore, different scavenger agents were investigated.

  • <i>Candida albicans</i> Sterilization Using a Light-Emitting Diode and Methylene Blue

    摘要: Background and aims: Conventional fungal treatment using external medication requires considerable time and effort. We herein examined the basic effect of methylene blue (MB) with sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) on Candida albicans sterilization using photodynamic antimicrobial chemotherapy (PACT). Materials and methods: NaHCO3 was added to MB to establish a basic pH. Then, C. albicans was smeared on a medium with basic MB followed by irradiation using a red light-emitting diode (LED) with a wavelength of 660 nm. The applied energy fluencies were 5, 10, 15, and 20 J/cm2. After 48 h of culture, the effects of the intervention were determined according to the fungal growth area. Results: The basic effect appeared at a pH range of 8.6 to 8.9 and at 10 and 15 J/cm2, while the NaHCO3 concentration was between 1% and 2%. Conclusions: Our results suggested that PACT using basic MB was effective for C. albicans sterilization.

  • Study on micromoulding of a high viewing angle LED lens

    摘要: Lenses are used to mount on the light-emitting diode (LED) chip to obtain the desired light distribution patterns. In this study, a lens for large viewing angle and high uniformity LED has been developed with optical grade poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) material. TracePro software was used to design the lens while Moldex 3D software was implemented to design the mould and the mould filling phenomena. Together with micromoulding technology and Taguchi experimental method with control parameters were mould temperature (MoT), melt temperature (MT), and injection speed, a lens with optical uniformity of 87.18% and viewing angle of 128° has been developed. The experimental results showed that MoT and MT were the main factors affecting the optical quality, each with contributions greater than 50 and 30%, respectively. Though this lens is relatively small in dimension, a draft angle is needed for successful removal of the moulded PMMA lens from the mould.

    摘要: Optical observations are intensively applied to space debris monitoring for the achievement of orbit determination and for gathering information on their attitude motion, even if constrained by light conditions. Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) installed on the external surfaces of a satellite could increase the visibility interval to the whole eclipse time. LEDSAT (LED-based small SATellite) is a 1-Unit CubeSat aimed at demonstrating the effectiveness of LEDs for the improvement of space debris optical monitoring algorithms. The LEDSAT experimental mode includes flashing patterns that will allow the CubeSat attitude reconstruction and the testing of a back-up light-based communication method. This paper will describe the features of the LEDSAT experimental mode, by describing the needed measurements for achieving the satellite LED-based attitude reconstruction and the features of the back-up LED communication.

  • A 2.6 μW Monolithic CMOS Photoplethysmographic (PPG) Sensor Operating with 2 μW LED Power for Continuous Health Monitoring

    摘要: Photoplethysmography (PPG) enables wearable vitals monitoring. Nevertheless, it is still limited by the few mA of the LEDs driving current. We present a PPG sensor integrating an array of dedicated pinned-photodiodes (PPD) with a full readout chain integrated in a 0.18 μm CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) process. The sensor features a total input referred noise of 0.68 e?rms per PPD, independently of the input light, and achieves a 4.6 μW total power consumption, including the 2 μW LED power, at 1.38 bpm heart rate average error.

  • Synthesis and luminescent properties of polymer‐silica multilayer‐encapsulated perovskite quantum dots for optoelectronics

    摘要: Hydrophobic all-inorganic perovskite quantum dots (IPQDs) CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, and I) were synthesized using conventional solution methods. IPQDs are potential materials for lasers, solar cells, and displays because of their narrow full width at half-maximum, optically tunable wavelength, and great photoluminescence quantum yield. Their shortcomings are structurally unstable and moisture sensitive. To overcome the poor stability, we have developed a chemical modification to form GQD + PMAO@SiO2 that enhances their photoluminescence quantum yield (from 60 to ~90%), thermal stability (from 60 to ~90(cid:1)C), and photochemical stability. The combination of the green-emitting GQD + PMAO@SiO2 and red-emitting RQD + PMAO with a 450 nm blue InGaN-based LED chip was used to fabricate a white light emitting diode with the correlated color temperature (CCT) value of 6,943 K and Commission Internationale del'Eclairage of (0.312, 0.290).

  • Response surface methodology can be used to predict photoinactivation of foodborne pathogens using Rose Bengal excited by 530?nm LED

    摘要: In this work, the photodynamic bactericidal effect of Rose Bengal (RB), combined with green LED light, against Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella Typhimurium, was investigated. The interaction of RB concentration and illumination time was evaluated using a response surface methodology, and a second-order polynomial empirical model was adjusted to the experimental data. The derived model predicted the combined influences of these factors on S. aureus and S. Typhimurium counts, in accordance with predictions and experimental observations (R2 = 0.8483 and p = .0013 for S. aureus; R2 = 0.9191 and p = .0001 for S. Typhimurium). Total inhibition of S. aureus and S. Typhimurium was observed when applying a light dose of 0.125 J cm?2 and 152.0 J cm?2, respectively. The treatments also showed loss of membrane integrity, morphological changes, and internal cell structural alterations. In sum, the polynomial model developed could provide accurate information on the combined influences of RB and green LED light in aPDT treatment and, that this combination was able to inactivate S. aureus and S. Typhimurium.
