  • Detection of high flux synchrotron radiation based on diamond detector for HEPS

    摘要: High Energy Photon Source (HEPS) with a beam energy of 6 GeV and emittance less than 1.0 nm rad will be constructed in China, which can provide high-brightness hard X-ray in the order of 1022 (phs/s/mm2/mr2/0.1%B.W.). The broadband and high-brightness monochromatic beam flux and white beam flux need new detector other than the ion chambers for measurement in case of saturation under high-flux conditions. The Diamond X-ray detector for the beam position monitoring and high brightness X-ray detection is developing for High Energy Photon Source in China. The diamond detector has advantages over other detector materials: a low atomic number resulting in a low absorption cross-section when used as beam position monitor and a high radiation and wide linear range when used as beam intensity measuring. In this paper, the polycrystalline chemical-vapour-deposition diamond detectors with an aluminium contact have been tested at 1W2B beamline at Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF). A transmission-mode diamond X-ray detector is designed to simultaneously measure the X-ray flux, beam position in real time.

  • Optimal tone detection for optical fibre vector hydrophone

    摘要: An optimal tone detector based on the Neyman–Pearson criterion is proposed for the optical fibre vector hydrophone (OFVH). The detector takes account of the difference between noise levels on the acoustic pressure channel and the three particle acceleration channels of an OFVH. Explicit expressions for the impulse responses of pre-filters that are central to the proposed detector are given. Analyses show that the proposed detector is equivalent to the minimum variance distortionless response beamformer for the OFVH. In the case of identical noise on all particle acceleration channels, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) gain of the detector is 10lg(1 + μ) dB (μ is the noise power ratio of OFVH channels at the tone frequency), whereas the SNR gain also depends on target direction and is bounded by 10lg(1 + μmin) and 10lg(1 + μmax) dB when noise on all particle acceleration channels are different. Results from both simulations and lake experiment data show that the proposed detector outperforms tone detectors that use (i) the acoustic pressure signal, (ii) the particle acceleration signals and (iii) equally the combination of acoustic pressure signal and particle acceleration signals.

  • Design of the readout electronics for the DAMPE Silicon Tracker detector

    摘要: The Silicon Tracker (STK) is one of the detectors of the DAMPE satellite used to measure the incidence direction of high energy cosmic rays. It consists of 6 X-Y double layers of silicon micro-strip detectors with 73728 readout channels. It is a great challenge to read out the channels and process the huge volume of data in the harsh environment of space. 1152 Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) and 384 ADCs are used to read out the detector channels. 192 Tracker Front-end Hybrid (TFH) modules and 8 identical Tracker Readout Board (TRB) modules are designed to control and digitalize the front signals. In this paper, the design of the readout electronics for the STK and its performance are presented in detail.

  • The Sommerfeld ground-wave limit for a molecule adsorbed at a surface

    摘要: Using a mid-infrared emission spectrometer based on a superconducting nanowire single-photon detector (SNSPD), we observe the dynamics of vibrational energy pooling of CO adsorbed at the surface of a NaCl crystal. After exciting a majority of the CO molecules to their first vibrationally excited state (v = 1), we observe infrared emission from states up to v = 27. Kinetic Monte Carlo simulations show that vibrational energy collects in a few CO molecules at the expense of those up to eight lattice sites away by selective excitation of NaCl’s transverse phonons. The vibrating CO molecules behave like classical oscillating dipoles, losing their energy to NaCl lattice-vibrations via the electromagnetic near-field. This is analogous to Sommerfeld’s description of the Earth’s influence on radio transmission by ground waves.

  • Achieving enhanced pH sensitivity using capacitive coupling in extended gate FET sensors with various high-K sensing films

    摘要: Sensing properties of various high-k sensing membrane, such as SnO2, HfO2, ZrO2, and Ta2O5, in dual gate extended-gate field-effect transistor (EGFET) were investigated. By adapting the dual-gate structure, high sensitivity exceeding the conventional Nernstian limit on sensitivity (59.15 mV/pH at 25 °C) was realized due to capacitive coupling effect. As a results, it was confirmed that dual-gate EGFET with Ta2O5 sensing membrane which has high permittivity shows the highest sensitivity of 478.0 mV/pH as well as excellent hysteresis voltage and drift rate characteristics.

  • New Analytical Formulae to Calibrate Well-type Scintillation Detectors Efficiency

    摘要: Direct Mathematical calculations for the absolute efficiency of well-type gamma ray scintillation crystals are described. Calculated detection efficiencies are drawn for two commonly used well crystals. Comparisons are made between present works and published Monte Carlo values. The present approach proved quite success in predicting the efficiency of well type detectors providing only the geometry and materials of the system formed of source, detector and shielding as well as the energy of the emitted photons.
