  • Organic single-crystal phototransistor with unique wavelength-detection characteristics; 具有独特波长检测特性的有机单晶光电晶体管;

    摘要: Organic phototransistors based on high-quality 2,8-dichloro-5,11-dihexyl-indolo[3,2-b]carbazo (CHICZ) single show the highest photoresponsivity of 3×103 A W?1, photosensitivity of 2×104 and the detectivity can achieve 8.4×1014 Jones. We also discovered good linear dependence of log(photosensitivity) versus the wavelength when the devices were illuminated with a series of same-intensity but different-wavelength lights. The organic phototransistors based on CHICZ single crystal have potential applications in wavelength-detection.

  • Two-channel method for measuring losses in a ring optical resonator at a wavelength of 632.8 nm

    摘要: A two-channel method is proposed for measuring losses in an optical ring resonator (RR), in which eigenmodes (counter-propagating waves) are excited by means of a Zeeman ring He – Ne laser with a wavelength of 632.8 nm. The measured frequency splitting of the laser counterpropgating waves is used to determine the absolute value of losses in an exemplary RR. The value of losses in the measured RR is determined by comparing the resonance width of the output radiation intensity with the resonance width of the radiation intensity for an exemplary resonator. The algorithm of intensity resonance processing takes into account the distortions caused by the dynamic effect, which allows a significant increase in the accuracy (up to 1 % – 2 %) and sensitivity of the proposed method. The measured losses in the RR with a perimeter of 28 cm constitute 80 – 5000 ppm.

  • Design and Characterization of a Scintillator-Based Position-Sensitive Detector for Muon Imaging

    摘要: This work presents the design of a position-sensitive detector that we are evaluating for cosmic-ray muon imaging. The position-sensitive detector consists of an EJ-200 plastic scintillator panel that is 32 × 32 × 2.5 cm in dimension. A quantity of 32 parallel grooves, each 2 mm wide and 4 mm deep with a pitch of 1 cm, are carved on the top and bottom sides, in perpendicular orientation, of a scintillator panel. Two wavelength shifting optical fibers are embedded in each groove for light collection and transport. The optical fibers from each channel are coupled to one pixel of a Hamamatsu H8500C multi-anode photomultiplier tube. An encoding technique using a one-dimensional resistor network was developed to reduce the number of required readout channels for position determination. The position calibration was performed with a blue light emitting diode. The detector was shown to achieve position resolution of ~1 cm (sigma).

  • Spectroscopic Microtomography in the Visible Wavelength Range

    摘要: We demonstrate spectroscopic microtomography in the visible wavelength range (450–700 nm) using digital holographic tomography, a wavelength-scanning source, and a variable-optical-path-length strategy. This multidimensional imaging system can directly measure the absorption-coefficient and refractive-index spectra of a three-dimensional specimen. We apply the system developed to characterize three types of polystyrene beads (undyed, blue dyed, and red dyed) as well as oxygenated and deoxygenated single red blood cells.

  • Wavelength-Tunable Band-Edge Photoluminescence of Nonstoichiometric Ag–In–S Nanoparticles via Ga <sup>3+</sup> Doping

    摘要: The nonstoichiometry of I?III?VI semiconductor nanoparticles, especially the ratio of group I to group III elements, has been utilized to control their physicochemical properties. We report the solution-phase synthesis of non-stoichiometric Ag?In?S and Ag?In?Ga?S nanoparticles and results of the investigation of their photoluminescence (PL) properties in relation to their chemical compositions. While stoichiometric AgInS2 nanoparticles simply exhibited only a broad PL band originating from defect sites in the particles, a narrow band edge PL peak newly appeared with a decrease in the Ag fraction in the nonstoichiometric Ag?In?S nanoparticles. The relative PL intensity of this band edge emission with respect to the defect-site emission was optimal at a Ag/(Ag + In) value of ca. 0.4. The peak wavelength of the band edge emission was tunable from 610 to 500 nm by increased doping with Ga3+ into Ag?In?S nanoparticles due to an increase of the energy gap. Furthermore, surface coating of Ga3+-doped Ag?In?S nanoparticles, that is, Ag?In?Ga?S nanoparticles, with a GaSx shell drastically and selectively suppressed the broad defect-site PL peak and, at the same time, led to an increase in the PL quantum yield (QY) of the band edge emission peak. The optimal PL QY was 28% for Ag?In?Ga?S@GaSx core?shell particles, with green band-edge emission at 530 nm and a full width at half-maximum of 181 meV (41 nm). The observed wavelength tunability of the band-edge PL peak will facilitate possible use of these toxic-element-free I?III?VI-based nanoparticles in a wide area of applications.

  • Shape-optimized multi-mode interference for a wideband visible light coupler

    摘要: We developed a wideband visible light coupler based on multi-mode interference (MMI) using silica planar lightwave circuit (PLC) technology. The MMI shape was designed by using analytical and numerical optimization techniques to expand the transmission range around the target wavelength. We used this method for green (G) and blue (B) coupler to expand G and B transmission range. The transmittances of the fabricated coupler designed by the hybrid design method were ?1.5 to ?1.0 dB at wavelengths of 430 to 465 nm and ?0.5 to ?0.1 dB at wavelengths of 508 to 625 nm, respectively. The coupler length is about 1 mm without an input/output circuit. The coupler can be used for the whole wavelength range of G and B as a GB coupler.

    摘要: Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) in all optical networks is a popular optical networking technology which involves routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) problem as a key aspect to be dealt with. The RWA problem is known to be NP- complete integer linear programming (ILP) problem. Most of the previous work in the field focuses RWA problem in optical networks with static connection requests and wavelength conversion. In this paper our study attempts to provide better utilization of wavelength and devices for wavelength conversion and grooming, thereby leading to minimization of number of wavelengths and cost of wavelength conversion and grooming. The proposed genetic algorithm (GA) heuristic with single objective and multi objective fitness functions provide better results for the RWA adopting first fit wavelength assignment and most used wavelength assignment methods. The simulation studies have been carried out over 14- node NSFNET network with the objective of minimizing blocking probability. We observe that multi objective heuristic adopting most used wavelength assignment outperforms the single objective heuristic.

    摘要: Wavelength Converter (WC) placement in WDM optical network is essential when traf?c demand and resource requirement is higher. As the number of WCs increases the blocking of the connection reduces. However, random placement is undesirable since placement of WC at certain nodes reduces blocking probability at higher extent. Random placement not only results in wastage of resources but also put hurdles in wavelength usability. We have investigated that the nodes to be selected for WC placement depends on Routing and Wavelength Assignment (RWA) strategies. Hence, we have proposed an ordered set of optimum node positions of WCs in the network. In addition, we propose that the optimum solution is different for different RWA strategies. We propose that the sequence of optimal positions is common for respective RWA for any number of WCs. We have also proposed that every RWA has different requirement of nodes deployed with WCs.

    摘要: Analytical results are presented for a WDM optical burst switching network to determine the optimum network parameters for a specified burst loss rate. Results are presented as a function of wavelength conversion capability, WDM channel’s number, number of slots per burst and burst arrival probability regarding burst loss rate. It is observed that at a given BLR of ???????, required wavelength conversion capability is less for high number of WDM channels. At a certain number of WDM channel and given BLR of ???????, for more slot’s number, wavelength conversion capability required is higher. Optimum number of slots per burst are also found for a given wavelength number, BLR of ??????? and wavelength conversion capability.

    摘要: This paper presents the wavelength trend of a swell propagating across the ocean along a great circle path. Hindcast WW3 wave model data are used for finding the storm sources that are the starting points for a swell. We search the SAR swell observation sequences from ASAR wave mode Level 2P data. It is shown that the wavelength of a swell will increase when propagating from a storm source. When a swell propagates far beyond 10000 km, the wavelength may decrease because shorter wind seas are introduced by the local wind in the westerlies from the other hemisphere. The wavelength can be approximately regarded as constant beyond 4000 km from the storm source.
