Potential of GAGG:Ce scintillation crystals for synchrotron X-Ray micro-imaging
摘要: We examined the use of cerium-doped gadolinium aluminum gallium garnet (GAGG:Ce) as a material for scintillation screens in synchrotron X-ray radiography (SXR). Highlighted for gamma-ray detection, GAGG:Ce is also an attractive material for SXR because of its high X-ray stopping power and the high light yield at around 530 nm. A thin and transparent screen prepared from our grown ingot of GAGG:Ce was compared with commonly used scintillators of CdWO4 and YAG:Ce in terms of image quality under monochromatic X-ray illumination. Micron spatial resolutions were achieved with comparable image quality, suggesting that a single crystal of GAGG:Ce is competent scintillation material for SXR.

[Zn(OOCH)2(4,4′-bipyridine)] : A metal-organic-framework (MOF) with x-ray-induced photochromic behaviour at room temperature
摘要: Materials that may show photochromism under X-rays have higher spatial resolution for visual low-energy X-rays detection over the commercial instruments and greater X-ray sensitivity than silver salt-based radiographic films. In this work, we discovered that the known MOF, [Zn(OOCH)2(Bpy)]n (Bpy = 4,4′-bipyridine), showed rare photochromic behaviour upon irradiation of hard and soft X-rays at room temperature.

摘要: In this paper, we report on the characterization of detectors constructed at RMD using 1-inch, 1.5-inch, and 2-inch diameter right cylinders of CLYC and CLLBC crystals coupled to arrays of silicon photomultipliers (SiPM). Detectors constructed with small volume CLLBC crystals coupled to a 12 mm × 12mm total area SiPM array show an excellent energy resolution of ~3% at 662 keV and a large volume CLYC crystal when coupled to a 24 mm × 24 mm area array shows an energy resolution of ~6.6% at 662 keV. Both detectors show pulse shape discrimination capabilities.

Nucleation-controlled growth of superior lead-free perovskite Cs3Bi2I9 single-crystals for high-performance X-ray detection
摘要: The organic-inorganic hybrid lead halide perovskites have emerged as a series of star materials for solar cells, lasers and detectors. However, the issues raised by the toxic lead element and marginal stability due to the volatile organic components have severely limited their potential applications. In this work, we develop a nucleation-controlled solution method to grow large size high-quality Cs3Bi2I9 perovskite single crystals (PSCs). Using the technique, we harvest some centimeter-sized single crystals and achieved high device performance. We ?nd that X-ray detectors based on PSCs exhibit high sensitivity of 1652.3 μC Gyair?1 cm?2 and very low detectable dose rate of 130 nGyair s?1, both desired in medical diagnostics. In addition, its outstanding thermal stability inspires us to develop a high temperature X-ray detector with stable response at up to 100 °C. Furthermore, PSCs exhibit high X-ray imaging capability thanks to its negligible signal drifting and extremely high stability.

Use of “LGAD” ultra-fast silicon detectors for time-resolved low-keV X-ray science
摘要: The recent development of silicon diode Low Gain Avalanche Detectors (LGADs) has opened the possibility of enhanced response and faster frame rates for the detection of X-rays produced by next-generation light sources. Preliminary results are presented on the exposure of an LGAD to a series of 500 MHz streams of X-rays with energies between 6 and 16 keV from the SLAC SSRL. X-ray absorption pulses from neighboring beam pulses, separated by 2 nsec, are well resolved. Additional results from a novel, AC-coupled LGAD, excited by a narrow infrared laser beam, indicate a point-spread function with a full width of approximately 400 μm. Further optimization of the AC-LGAD design should allow the extent of the point-spread function to be further reduced, and a granularity of 100 × 100 μm2 or finer to be reached.

Simulation of the ELIGANT-GN array performances at ELI-NP for gamma beam energies larger than neutron threshold
摘要: Performance of the ELIGANT-GN array being developed at ELI-NP was evaluated using dedicated GEANT4 simulation code. The array is designed to consist of 17 LaBr3:Ce and 17 CeBr3 detectors as well as 33 BC501A and 29 6Li-glass detectors. The energy and time responses of the detectors were studied giving information on gamma and neutron absolute detection efficiencies of the array. A planned day-one experiment regarding the gamma and neutron decay from GDR in 208Pb is discussed and, based on simulations, the data analysis procedure is proposed. The detection efficiencies as well as the count rates estimations are presented.
