Adaptive AoA and Polarization Estimation for Receiving Polarized mmWave Signals
摘要: This paper proposes a novel hybrid dual-polarized antenna array which exploits two orthogonally-collocated dipoles to capture the full power of a polarized millimeter wave signal. To maximize the received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), we study the adaptive angle-of-arrival and polarization state estimation, and develop a differential beam tracking algorithm and a cross-correlation-to-power ratio polarization tracking algorithm for interleaved hybrid dual-polarized arrays. Simulation results verify the superior performance of the proposed algorithms, and confirm the significant improvement of SNR obtained by using the proposed array and algorithms.

Because of this transformation, the computational complexity is modi?ed. Simulation results con?rmed the effectiveness of the proposed method with a circular array radar.

Low-Complexity Multiuser Receiver for Massive Hybrid Array mmWave Communications
摘要: In this paper, we study the low complexity reception of multiuser signals in uplink millimeter wave (mmWave) communications using a partially connected hybrid antenna array. Exploiting the mmWave channel property, we propose a low-complexity user-directed multiuser receiver with three novel schemes for allocating subarrays to users. This receiver only requires the knowledge of angles-of-arrival (AoAs) for dominating paths and a small amount of equivalent channel information instead of perfect channel state information. For comparison, we also derive a successive interference cancellation based solution as a performance benchmark. We design two types of reference signals with the channel estimation method to enable efficient and simple estimation for AoA and equivalent baseband channel. Also, we provide analytical results for the performance of AoA estimation, using the lower bounds of mean square errors in line-of-sight dominated mmWave channels. Simulation results validate that the proposed channel estimation method is effective when employed in combination with a zero-forcing equalizer.

摘要: Simulation data from a ray-tracing tool applied in specific urban environments in the 28-GHz band suggest that the utilization of arbitrary base station (BS) angles in a directional search procedure may not be of maximum benefit for users located in non-line-of-sight positions, because certain angles restrict the radio frequency illumination to a lower maximum power than from others. An appropriate selection of BS angles offers a potential power level benefit of greater than 2 dB in a defined number of consecutive measurements; however, this performance improvement appears to be conditioned by the severity of the existing street canyon propagation and the probability of the angle used. A simple ray tracing method is proposed to approximately identify the most effective BS angles that avoid power emissions in directions largely blocked by nearby buildings. The results indicate that prior site-specific information may be helpful, particularly for systems using analog beamforming.

摘要: An alternative architecture for imaging multiple-input/multiple-output (MIMO) underwater wireless optical communications (UWOCs) is proposed which relies on the transmission in angle rather than directly in space. The angular MIMO (A-MIMO) system has advantages over conventional underwater MIMO systems (C-MIMO) in that the image magni?cation is invariant to link range, and angular transmission greatly relaxes the alignment requirements of such links. These features are especially important for underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs), where the maintaining alignment between underwater vehicles and ?oating sensors nodes may be dif?cult in such dynamic environments. In this paper, we describe the architecture of A-MIMO for underwater channels and numerically characterize it in clear and coastal seawater conditions. For comparison a C-MIMO underwater system with similar parameters is also characterized and the channel capacities for A-MIMO and a C-MIMO are contrasted against link distances and misalignment errors. The numerical results show that A-MIMO maintains the link capacity against the misalignment conditions far better than C-MIMO while using a smaller size transceiver.

摘要: In a satellite-to-ground laser communication system, the presence of atmospheric turbulence and residual angle of arrival fluctuations limit the efficiency with which the propagating beam is coupled into a single-mode fiber. Considering the influence of atmospheric turbulence and residual jitter of angle of arrive, the expression of mean-coupling efficiency is handled in the receiver aperture plane in this paper. The optimal design parameter of the optical receiver system in the satellite-to-ground laser links can be obtained by maximize fiber coupling efficiency. Corresponding numerical results based on the expression derived in this paper will be useful in parametric estimation and optimization of optical receiver system.
