  • Opto-electronic platform tracking control of multi-rotor unmanned aerial vehicles based on composite disturbance compensation

    摘要: Airborne opto-electronic platforms are very important in unmanned aerial vehicle systems. The stability and tracking performance of airborne opto-electronic platforms are easily affected by disturbance factors, making compensating for those disturbances a very prominent issue. In this paper, compared to the traditional disturbance observer, an improved velocity signal based disturbance observer (IVDOB) is particularly designed to compensate for the disturbance. Then its capability, robustness, and stability are discussed. For improving the stabilization accuracy and tracking performance of airborne opto-electronic platforms, the universal approximation property of fuzzy systems is used to compensate the disturbance further and an adaptive fuzzy control system based on IVDOBs is proposed. To validate the scheme, a series of experiments were carried out. The results show that the proposed control scheme can achieve reliable control precision and satisfy the requirements of airborne opto-electronic platform tasks.

  • Quality factor assessment of finite-size all-dielectric metasurfaces at the magnetic dipole resonance

    摘要: Recently there has been a large interest in achieving metasurface resonances with large quality factors. In this article, we examine metasurfaces that comprised a finite number of magnetic dipoles oriented parallel or orthogonal to the plane of the metasurface and determine analytic formulas for their resonances’ quality factors. These conditions are experimentally achievable in finite-size metasurfaces made of dielectric cubic resonators at the magnetic dipole resonance. Our results show that finite metasurfaces made of parallel (to the plane) magnetic dipoles exhibit low quality factor resonances with a quality factor that is independent of the number of resonators. More importantly, finite metasurfaces made of orthogonal (to the plane) magnetic dipoles lead to resonances with large quality factors, which ultimately depend on the number of resonators comprising the metasurface. In particular, by properly modulating the array of dipole moments by having a distribution of resonator polarizabilities, one can potentially increase the quality factor of metasurface resonances even further. These results provide design guidelines to achieve a sought quality factor applicable to any resonator geometry for the development of new devices such as photodetectors, modulators, and sensors.

  • Four-Wave Mixing in Metamaterials

    摘要: Interaction of four counterpropagating waves in a cubic medium being “left” for the signal wave is considered in the constant-intensity approximation. Analytical expression for the signal wave intensity is derived for the general case of four-wave interaction in a metamaterial. The influence of different parameters on the signal wave amplification coefficient, efficiency of conversion into the signal wave, and the reflection coefficient of the mirror whose role is played by the metamaterial is analyzed. It has been obtained for the first time that the determining role in the backward signal wave amplification is played by the total length of the metamaterial and the intensities of all three forward waves. An analysis has shown that the optimal thickness of the metamaterial depends not only on the phase mismatch and the strong coherent pump field intensity, as in the constant-field approximation, but also on the intensity of the weak wave at the frequency ω2. It has been demonstrated for the first time that the efficiency of frequency conversion in metamaterials depends on the total metamaterial length, input intensities of all four interacting waves, phase mismatch, and losses in the medium. It is established that the maxima of the reflection coefficient of the metamaterial depend on the total metamaterial length and the intensities of all three forward waves.

  • Frozen Gaussian approximation for high frequency wave propagation in periodic media

    摘要: Propagation of high-frequency wave in periodic media is a challenging problem due to the existence of multiscale characterized by short wavelength, small lattice constant and large physical domain size. Conventional computational methods lead to extremely expensive costs, especially in high dimensions. In this paper, based on Bloch decomposition and asymptotic analysis in the phase space, we derive the frozen Gaussian approximation for high-frequency wave propagation in periodic media and establish its converge to the true solution. The formulation leads to ef?cient numerical algorithms, which are presented in a companion paper [SIAM J. Sci. Comput. 38 (2016), A2440–A2463].

  • Infrared Small Target Detection via Non-Convex Rank Approximation Minimization Joint l2,1 Norm

    摘要: To improve the detection ability of infrared small targets in complex backgrounds, a novel method based on non-convex rank approximation minimization joint l2,1 norm (NRAM) was proposed. Due to the defects of the nuclear norm and l1 norm, the state-of-the-art infrared image-patch (IPI) model usually leaves background residuals in the target image. To fix this problem, a non-convex, tighter rank surrogate and weighted l1 norm are instead utilized, which can suppress the background better while preserving the target efficiently. Considering that many state-of-the-art methods are still unable to fully suppress sparse strong edges, the structured l2,1 norm was introduced to wipe out the strong residuals. Furthermore, with the help of exploiting the structured norm and tighter rank surrogate, the proposed model was more robust when facing various complex or blurry scenes. To solve this non-convex model, an efficient optimization algorithm based on alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) plus difference of convex (DC) programming was designed. Extensive experimental results illustrate that the proposed method not only shows superiority in background suppression and target enhancement, but also reduces the computational complexity compared with other baselines.

  • Characterization of ICA for Scattering From Cylindrical Components of Vegetation

    摘要: The capability of reliably describing the electromagnetic scattering behavior by a dielectric finite cylinder is important in many applications, in particular, for microwave remote sensing of vegetated terrain. Previous lack of accurate analytical or semianalytical cylinder scattering model has led to the popularity of the infinite cylinder approximation (ICA) approach even at present. Yet, the performance of ICA has not been systematically quantitatively characterized in the literature. This letter fills in the gap, and demonstrates that ICA leaves much to be desired in many aspects.

  • Elastic and optoelectronic properties of CaTa2O6 compounds: Cubic and orthorhombic phases

    摘要: Using first principles density functional theory (DFT) simulations, the structural, electronic, optical and elastic properties of CaTa2O6 oxide for cubic and orthorhombic phases are studied by highly accurate (FP-LAPW) method within the GGA + U approximation. The calculated lattice parameters are consistent with available experimental data. The electronic band structure calculations have shown that the band gaps in CaTa2O6 are equal to 3.08 eV and 4.40 eV for the cubic and orthorhombic structures, respectively. For both the phases the main optical properties, e.g., absorption coefficient, dielectric constant, energy loss function, and reflectivity, refractive index, and extinction coefficient are calculated and discussed in detail in the spectral range 0-14 eV. Cubic and orthorhombic phases exhibit significantly different optical characteristics. The electronic bonding characters of CaTa2O6 with different symmetries are explored via charge density distribution mapping. Strong covalent bonding character dominates in both the phases of CaTa2O6. Elastic properties of CaTa2O6 for cubic and orthorhombic phases are also investigated. The stress strain method is used for the determination of elastic constants in both the phases. The bulk modulus, shear modulus, Young’s modulus, along with the important elastic anisotropy factors and Poisson’s ratio are studied in detail.

  • Generation of solitons in media with arbitrary degree of nonlocality using an optimization procedure

    摘要: Using a recently developed technique based on the Rayleigh-Ritz optimization principle, we generate solitons for media with an arbitrary degree of nonlocality. We demonstrate that it is possible to obtain a plethora of complex self-trapped beams using known solutions to the harmonic oscillator for one-dimensional (1D), 2D, and 3D systems, but working directly with a generalized nonlinear nonlocal Schr?dinger equation. We compare the parameters obtained variationally between the phenomenological Gaussian response and other more realistic nonlocal responses. We report that, for both kinds of nonlocal models, our approach obtains variational solutions that can remain self-trapped for certain conditions. We corroborate that, in general, the soliton dynamics can be different between the Gaussian response and the more realistic media for an arbitrary degree of nonlocality.

    摘要: This paper addresses the problem of depth estimation for every viewpoint of a dense light field, exploiting information from only a sparse set of views. This problem is particularly relevant for applications such as light field reconstruction from a subset of views, for view synthesis and for compression. Unlike most existing methods for scene depth estimation from light fields, the proposed algorithm computes disparity (or equivalently depth) for every viewpoint taking into account occlusions. In addition, it preserves the continuity of the depth space and does not require prior knowledge on the depth range. The experiments show that, both for synthetic and real light fields, our algorithm achieves competitive performance to state-of-the-art algorithms which exploit the entire light field and usually generate the depth map for the center viewpoint only.

  • Integral Characteristics of Wave Packets in the Problem of the Evolution of A Wave Function on A One-Dimensional Lattice

    摘要: We consider the quantum dynamics of charge transfer on a lattice in the tight-binding approximation and analytically calculate the integral characteristics of the wave packet propagating along the lattice. We focus on calculating the mean and root-mean-square displacements. We also obtain expressions for higher-order moments as series for squares of Bessel functions, which might be independently interesting.
