    摘要: In this paper, we propose a real-time Internet of Vehicles system based on an automotive headlight. The modulation format is OFDM-64QAM and we successfully reach the data rate of 375Mb/s by utilizing a FPGA as the central host. The transmission distance is 2.5m. We also investigated the performance of the system by calculating BER versus bias current, transmission distance and attenuation at both transmitter and receiver. As far as we know, this is the highest data rate of a real-time visible light communication system based on automotive headlight which can be used in the Internet of Vehicles (IoV).

  • Flat concentrator photovoltaic system for automotive applications

    摘要: In this paper, we present a novel design and an optical simulation of a ?at concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) system for electric vehicle application. The sunlight concentration component is comprised of a planar waveguide integrated dichroic mirror-coated cone prisms and a mirror-coated lens array. Sunlight re?ects ?rstly at the mirror-coated lens array and then strikes the cone prism of the planar waveguide. The prisms are coated by the dichroic mirrors to divide the solar spectrum into two bands. The low-energy band is transmitted and reaches the GaInAsP/GaInAs dual-junction solar cells. The mid-energy band is re?ected at the prism surface and coupled inside the waveguide. The exit port of the waveguide is attached with GaInP/GaAs dual-junction solar cells. The simulation results demonstrated a maximum electricity conversion e?ciency of 32.88% at the high con- centration ratio. The system thickness is 35 mm, which is as thin as the conventional ?at photovoltaic panel and system allow for a lateral sun-tracking mechanism. This is suitable for installation on the vehicle's roof. The results showed that the presented ?at CPV system is a new approach for a highly e?cient application of solar energy to the electrical vehicle.

    摘要: In a phased array antenna system, beamforming integrated circuit (IC) is located directly behind the antenna and uses a multi-layer printed circuit board (PCB). As the frequency band becomes higher, the direct via feed method is not suitable for multi-layer PCB structure due to the decrease of transmission characteristics and the increase of manufacturing difficulty by use of blind via. This paper introduces the antenna using an aperture coupled feeding technique on multi-layer PCB for a Ku-band phased array antenna system. To verify the design, an antenna prototype is developed and measured at Ku-band for satellite applications. The antenna operates with left-handed circular polarization (LHCP) at center frequency of 11.9GHz and a peak gain of 15.2dBic.

  • Influence of focal spot diameter and beam oscillation on the process efficiency of laser beam welding utilizing a direct diode laser

    摘要: Costs of power consumption, efficiency improvement and a green image are increasing issues for automotive manufacturers. One possibility to reduce energy consumption is to increase process efficiency of the established laser beam welding. For this reason this contribution examines whether the laser output power of a direct diode laser can be reduced whilst keeping weld seam volumes constant. This is realized by a reduced spot diameter from initial 664 μm to 368 μm in combination with beam oscillation in order to generate blind seams in 22MnB5 and DC01 steel. It is shown that energy consumption can be reduced significantly.

    摘要: Diode lasers generating optical pulses with high peak powers and pulse lengths in the nanosecond range are key components of systems for free-space communication, metrology, material processing, spectroscopy, and light detection and ranging (LiDAR) as needed for object detection and autonomous driving. For the automotive application a number of special requirements have to be fulfilled additionally to a high output power: Due to eye safety reasons favored pulse powers of ~100 W can only be used within a pulse length of 2 ns; to avoid absorption by water vapor the emission wavelengths have to be shorter than 920 nm; uncooled operation demands laser operation over a wide temperature range from -40°C to +85°C; for the suppression of the sun light and a high signal to noise ratio optical band filters are necessary. The last requirement can be met by the integration of a distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) into a part of the cavity [1]. In a first step the epitaxial layer structure including the active region has been optimized (a) in order to lock the lasing wavelength to the Bragg wavelength over the whole temperature range and (b) to avoid carrier accumulation outside of the active region [2]. Tailored high-speed electrical units are used for the generation of the current pulses.

  • Influence of Laser-Generated Cutting Edges on the Electrical Performance of Large Lithium-Ion Pouch Cells

    摘要: Laser cutting is a promising technology for the singulation of conventional and advanced electrodes for lithium-ion batteries. Even though the continuous development of laser sources, beam guiding, and handling systems enable industrial relevant high cycle times, there are still uncertainties regarding the influence of, for this process, typical cutting edge characteristics on the electrochemical performance. To investigate this issue, conventional anodes and cathodes were cut by a pulsed fiber laser with a central emission wavelength of 1059–1065 nm and a pulse duration of 240 ns. Based on investigations considering the pulse repetition frequency, cutting speed, and line energy, a cell setup of anodes and cathodes with different cutting edge characteristics were selected. The experiments on 9 Ah pouch cells demonstrated that the cutting edge of the cathode had a greater impact on the electrochemical performance than the cutting edge of the anode. Furthermore, the results pointed out that on the cathode side, the contamination through metal spatters, generated by the laser current collector interaction, had the largest impact on the electrochemical performance.

  • Studies of the laser etching on painted plastic parts to prevent the risks of engraving failures at mechatronic devices

    摘要: Nowadays, the automotive mechatronic devices are developed with many symbols engraved over the painted plastic parts. Many risks are coming due to painting layer, which could be dry or not, the paint thickness variability it is also one important aspect. The paper’s aim is to present the studies of the laser etching process and the risk reduction of the possible failure by using the 2D optical measurement of different parameters for the laser beam, also using the 3D scanning in order to see the deep etching of the paint. The experiments will let the team know what should be the parameter setting for the painted plastic materials delivered in production in different time after the painting, therefore to reduce the over-adjusting and first part approval process duration.

    摘要: Integrated circuitry, “wraparound” electronics, and other conductive applications are being made possible using plastics. Whether plastics are in electronics—or even are the electronics—in consumer and industrial applications, novel conductive polymers and processing methods are helping 21st-century plastics engineers realize new performance and aesthetics benchmarks. In particular, the skyrocketing popularity of portable, personal, or more visually pleasing electronics is driving industry innovation across the board—from flexible electronics used in wearable, automotive, or appliance displays, to high-impact plastics for protecting sensitive electronics on the go. Conductive inks for in-mold use and polymers modified with conductive metal nanoparticles are also spurring searches for commercial uses of novel materials.
