Controlling the relativistic self-focusing of Hermite-cosh-Gaussian beams in plasma
摘要: The purpose of current study was to find the effects of Hermite-cosh-Gaussian (HChG) beam characteristics on the relativistic self-focusing. The Self-focusing Parameter (SFP), for mode indexes of m=0, 1, and 2 is proposed which provides a basis for achieving the nonlinear self-focusing dependencies on the beam characteristics. The dissimilar nonlinear self-focusing dependencies of different mode indexes on the initial intensity and decentered parameter of HChG beam are founded. The predictions of SFP model are then validated by investigating the beam focusing/diverging along the propagation axis and the exact conformity is observed. The results of introduced model can by applied for HChG beams with higher mode indexes, the Hermite Gaussian and cosh-Gaussian beams.

Dual-Layer Single-Varactor Driven Reflectarray Cell for Broad-Band Beam-Steering and Frequency Tunable Applications
摘要: A dual-layer active reflectarray configuration is proposed for broad-band beam-steering and/or frequency-tunable applications. A unit cell composed by two stacked fixed-size rectangular patches, properly loaded with a single varactor diode, is designed to realize the dynamic phase tuning mechanism. The proposed approach offers wider bandwidths, with respect to the existing varactor-based reflectarray cells, and quite good frequency reconfigurability features, as demanded by several radar or satellite communication applications. An X-band reflectarray cell is fabricated and tested, to prove the effectiveness of the proposed approach, achieving a 318° phase agility within a measured frequency range of about 14.6% with respect to the central design frequency (i.e., 11 GHz). Wideband beam-steering reflectarray designs are demonstrated, showing 1-dB gain bandwidths equal to 9–10%.

摘要: a wide-angle frequency-controlled beam-scanning antenna excited by planar spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) is proposed in this paper. The scanning angle and the gains of the proposed antenna can reach 83 degrees and 11.5dBi, respectively. The features of high gain, planar structure and wide scanning angle make this kind of antennas have great values in integrated communication systems.

The CMS Beam Halo Monitor electronics
摘要: The CMS Beam Halo Monitor has been successfully installed in the CMS cavern in LHC Long Shutdown 1 for measuring the machine induced background for LHC Run II. The system is based on 40 detector units composed of synthetic quartz Cherenkov radiators coupled to fast photomultiplier tubes (PMTs). The readout electronics chain uses many components developed for the Phase 1 upgrade to the CMS Hadronic Calorimeter electronics, with dedicated firmware and readout adapted to the beam monitoring requirements. The PMT signal is digitized by a charge integrating ASIC (QIE10), providing both the signal rise time, with few nanosecond resolution, and the charge integrated over one bunch crossing. The backend electronics uses microTCA technology and receives data via a high-speed 5 Gbps asynchronous link. It records histograms with sub-bunch crossing timing resolution and is read out via IPbus using the newly designed CMS data acquisition for non-event based data. The data is processed in real time and published to CMS and the LHC, providing online feedback on the beam quality. A dedicated calibration monitoring system has been designed to generate short triggered pulses of light to monitor the efficiency of the system. The electronics has been in operation since the first LHC beams of Run II and has served as the first demonstration of the new QIE10, Microsemi Igloo2 FPGA and high-speed 5 Gbps link with LHC data.

摘要: The aim of this paper is to study the Radar Cross Section (RCS) of modified radar targets (plate with notch) using Gaussian Beam techniques. The Gaussian methods used in this work are Gaussian Beam Summation (GBS) and Gaussian Beam Launching (GBL). We establish the theoretical formulation of the GBS and GBL techniques and analyze the influence of the main Gaussian beam parameters on the variation of the scattered field. Then, we present the simulations of RCS. The numerical results are compared with PO, MoM methods, and also with experimental measurements performed in the anechoic chamber at Lab-STICC (ENSTA Bretagne).

3-D Fast Nonlinear Simulation for Beam-Wave Interaction of Sheet Beam Traveling-Wave Tube
摘要: In this paper, a 3-D fast time-domain nonlinear algorithm (FTDNA-3-D) based on particle-in-cell method for the beam–wave interaction of the sheet beam slow wave structure (SWS) is presented. Calculation equations of the circuit electric field and the space charge electric field are given. Calculation approaches of the energy exchange and the particle mover are displayed. A simplified coupling impedance simulation approach for sheet beam SWS is indicated. The FTDNA-3-D takes the transverse electric field and the focusing magnetic field into consideration. The FTDNA-3-D could reach a high simulation speed. This novel algorithm gives a faster accurate choice for the design of sheet beam traveling-wave tube (TWT). It could be used to enhance the design efficiency of sheet beam TWT. A Ka-band staggered double vane TWT is used to verify the FTDNA-3-D. Simulation results of output power and gain versus frequency from FTDNA-3-D are compared with results from CST particle studio. The results of FTDNA-3-D are in accord with CST particle studio well.

Comparing postdeposition reactions of electrons and radicals with Pt nanostructures created by focused electron beam induced deposition
摘要: The ability of electrons and atomic hydrogen (AH) to remove residual chlorine from PtCl2 deposits created from cis-Pt(CO)2Cl2 by focused electron beam induced deposition (FEBID) is evaluated. Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) measurements as well as thermodynamics calculations support the idea that electrons can remove chlorine from PtCl2 structures via an electron-stimulated desorption (ESD) process. It was found that the effectiveness of electrons to purify deposits greater than a few nanometers in height is compromised by the limited escape depth of the chloride ions generated in the purification step. In contrast, chlorine atoms can be efficiently and completely removed from PtCl2 deposits using AH, regardless of the thickness of the deposit. Although AH was found to be extremely effective at chemically purifying PtCl2 deposits, its viability as a FEBID purification strategy is compromised by the mobility of transient Pt–H species formed during the purification process. Scanning electron microscopy data show that this results in the formation of porous structures and can even cause the deposit to lose structural integrity. However, this phenomenon suggests that the use of AH may be a useful strategy to create high surface area Pt catalysts and may reverse the effects of sintering. In marked contrast to the effect observed with AH, densification of the structure was observed during the postdeposition purification of PtCx deposits created from MeCpPtMe3 using atomic oxygen (AO), although the limited penetration depth of AO restricts its effectiveness as a purification strategy to relatively small nanostructures.

Propagation properties of a partially coherent anomalous hollow vortex beam in underwater oceanic turbulence
摘要: Based on the extended Huygens–Fresnel principle, the cross-spectral density function of a partially coherent anomalous hollow vortex beam (AHVB) propagating in underwater oceanic turbulence has been derived, and the influences of the beam parameters and underwater oceanic turbulence on the average intensity and coherence properties are investigated by using numerical examples. Our results show that the partially coherent AHVB with smaller coherence length and smaller M will evolve into the flat-topped faster as the propagation distance increases, and the partially coherent AHVB propagating in stronger underwater oceanic turbulence (the larger χT and ? or the smaller ε) will lose the initial dark hollow center and evolve into the Gaussian beam more rapidly. In the influences of oceanic turbulence on the spreading of partially coherent AHVB, it is found that the parameters χT and ? will cause the larger spreading than the parameter ε at the same propagation distance. This research is useful to the practical application of the partially coherent AHVB beam in underwater oceanic turbulence.

摘要: The growth in demand of high data rate, reliable quality of service, low cost technology and secured connectivity have been telecommunication users' concerns. Free Space Optics (FSO) is the best choice for meeting these demands as it offers data rates in Gbps with the most secure communication because light beam is prone to eavesdropping. However, usage of FSO as a communication link relies upon local weather condition. Atmospheric attenuation of fog, rain and snow are the most limitation of free space optic availability, as they lead to the diminution of limited available bandwidth. This paper investigated the link performance under climatic conditions such as fog, rain and snow by at various wavelengths of 650nm, 750nm, 850nm, 950nm and 1550nm. It is further deals with FSO performance targeting to acquire minimal Bit Error Rate (BER), suitable transmitting power, optimum link margin and reliable data transmission rate at maximum link distance of 1km. The studies observed that received power signal and the link distance have an inverse correlation because once the signal reaches to an extended distance; it faces greater climatic attenuation due to scattering and absorption lessening.

摘要: This paper proposed a novel method reconfiguring the polarization of the dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) with beam steering performance. During the process of liquid alteration between the two zones of the 3-D printed container, the proposed antenna performed with beam steering performance. What's more, the polarization was switched with the beam steering process. The proposed design is suitable for the application as a RFID reader.
