摘要: This work reports preliminary results and a prototype of an innovative mechanical beam steering circular patch antenna for 5G indoor cellular access networks with sub-6 GHz operation. The beam steering is achieved using 18 screws installed around the circular patch radiator, working as a reflector by proper managing the screws position and height. The new antenna can steer its main beam over 360o in azimuth plane and from -30o to 30o in the elevation plane with gain up to 8.01 dBi at 4.6 GHz.

摘要: A new varactor controlled series-fed scanning array antenna is introduced. At the center of the design is a varactor controlled phase shifter, where varactor capacitance is changed by applying different bias voltages which alters the progressive phase between series-fed dipole input currents and allows array pattern to be scanned (-25, 0, 25 degrees). Good return loss (greater than 10 dB), high gain (10 dB), and beam scanning (within plus minus 25 degrees) with nulls between two consecutive beams are achieved.

摘要: A multiple-band 5G end-fire antenna array is proposed to be placed on the upper and bottom edges of mobile terminals. The antenna element consists of two bow-tie radiators designed to resonate at 28 and 60 GHz. A sixteen-element beam-steerable array is presented in this paper, with overall dimensions of 40.13×1.44×0.25 mm3. Only the odd elements are active in the 28-GHz band and the optimal termination of the parasitic elements is studied. The simulated results show a good match to a 50-ohm feeding line and end-fire radiation at the targeted frequency bands.

摘要: A beam steering fabric based parasitic antenna array is introduced for operation at around 4.4 GHz. The array designed and built using conductive and nonconductive fabric materials and PIN diode switches show steering along 90, 0, and 270 degrees along the azimuth with measured peak gain between 6.8 to 8.5 dBi.

Resonant Beam Steering and Carpet Cloaking Using an Acoustic Transformational Metascreen
摘要: We invoke the Huygens principle to derive dispersion characteristics of acoustic transformational metasurfaces that can deflect parallel wavefronts in a desired direction. We also propose a dual-Lorentz resonator whose aperture fields can be tuned by geometrical changes to implement a particular phase with unity reflection coefficient. The proposed metascreen is designed by our arranging slightly detuned Lorentz cavities that generate the necessary interference to compensate for the incident wavefronts. Since a complete 0–2π range of the reflection phase is achieved, the metascreen can steer a beam across the full horizon. Moreover, since the proposed dual resonator has subwavelength dimensions, the metascreen is capable of high-resolution imaging, which is an essential trait in cloaking and deceptive acoustics. Successful demonstration of acoustic beam steering and carpet cloaking is done for a wavelength of 790 mm with the help of full-wave simulations.

The Effect of Antenna Mutual Coupling on MIMO Radar System Performance
摘要: Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar systems use orthogonal signaling to enable combined transmit and receive beamforming through signal processing on the received signals. Because of the combined role of transmit and receive arrays in this processing for monostatic MIMO radar, mutual coupling present in these arrays impacts the beamforming in a unique way. This paper therefore presents a mathematical model of a MIMO radar with coupled antennas and appropriate radio frequency circuitry. Application of the model to evaluate radar detection of a single target demonstrates that coupling can result in target detection angles that are in error by as much as 12? and increase beamformer response side lobe levels by as much as 8 dB. The results also show that a simple matching network can improve detection performance, particularly when array mutual coupling is high.
