摘要: This paper presents a comparitive study of ring oscillators (RO) using amorphous Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide (a-IGZO) thin-film transistors (TFTs) to implement on-chip clock generator for flexible electronic systems. A five-stage RO has been implemented with different inverter topologies using IGZO TFTs, which includes Diode connected load, Capacitive bootstrapping (BS), Pseudo-CMOS and Pseudo-CMOS bootstrapping architectures. These topologies have been simulated using in-house IGZO TFT models under similar conditions using different power supplies (10 V, 15 V and 20 V) in cadence environment. Among all architechtures Capacitive bootstrapping RO has ensured highest frequency of operation in the order of MHz and an output swing of 82% of VDD. Whereas, Pseudo-CMOS based RO provides the lowest power consumption in the order of μW with an output swing of 57% of VDD. On the other hand, the combination of Pseudo CMOS and bootstrapping has ensured highest voltage swing of 95% of VDD. In terms of power delay product (PDP) BS RO is superior with respect to other topologies. This work provides a clear insight to the designer to choose a particular topology for given application, mainly for on-chip clock generation for flexible electronic systems based on the requirements.

摘要: Automated cell segmentation for microscopy cell images has recently become an initial step for further image analysis in cell biology. However, microscopy cell images are easily degraded by noise during the readout procedure via optical-electronic imaging systems. Such noise degradations result in low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and poor image quality for cell identification. In order to improve SNR for subsequent segmentation and image-based quantitative analysis, the commonly used state-of-art restoration techniques are applied but few of them are suitable for corrupted microscopy cell images. In this paper, we propose a multistaged method based on a novel integration of trend surface analysis, quantile–quantile plot, bootstrapping, and the Gaussian spatial kernel for the restoration of noisy microscopy cell images. We show this multistaged approach achieves higher performance compared with other state-of-art restoration techniques in terms of peak signal-to-noise ratio and structure similarity in synthetic noise experiments. This paper also reports an experiment on real noisy microscopy data which demonstrated the advantages of the proposed restoration method for improving segmentation performance.

  • Deformation Analysis Using B-Spline Surface with Correlated Terrestrial Laser Scanner Observationsa??A Bridge Under Load

摘要: The choice of an appropriate metric is mandatory to perform deformation analysis between two point clouds (PC)—the distance has to be trustworthy and, simultaneously, robust against measurement noise, which may be correlated and heteroscedastic. The Hausdor? distance (HD) or its averaged derivation (AHD) are widely used to compute local distances between two PC and are implemented in nearly all commercial software. Unfortunately, they are a?ected by measurement In this contribution, we focus on terrestrial laser scanner (TLS) observations and assess the impact of neglecting correlations on the distance computation when a mathematical approximation is performed. The results of the simulations are extended to real observations from a bridge under load. Highly accurate laser tracker (LT) measurements were available for this experiment: they allow the comparison of the HD and AHD between two raw PC or between their mathematical approximations regarding reference values. Based on these results, we determine which distance is better suited in the case of heteroscedastic and correlated TLS observations for local deformation analysis. Finally, we set up a novel bootstrap testing procedure for this distance when the PC are approximated with B-spline surfaces.

  • On the application of bootstrapping to laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy data

摘要: The analysis of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) data heavily relies on statistical approaches. Recently, the application of another well-established statistical tool has started gaining prominence in LIBS analysis: bootstrapping. In the present work, we investigate the impact of bootstrapping on LIBS data collected by various data acquisition strategies and provide some insights into the application of this powerful statistical tool. We show that bootstrapping primarily affects the standard deviation of the recorded spectra, while barely affecting the mean values. This limits the applicability of bootstrapping to specific cases which are briefly discussed.
