  • Electrically tuned microwave CP cross slot patch antenna using liquid crystal technology

    摘要: The rapid progress in material science and electronic technology is great possibility in designing reconfigurable wireless devices which are frequency tunable, flexible and consume low energy. In this paper, the anisotropic propriety of a new liquid crystal mixture 'GT3-23001' in their nematic phase are exploited for designing tunable circular polarized cross slot patch antenna for WLAN applications. Reconfiguration of frequency response is controlled through an electrical external command. The proposed reconfigurable antenna based on liquid crystal satisfies a continuous frequency tuning of 15.83% with a global bandwidth of around 467.92 MHz (19.5%). to validate this novel mixture of liquid crystal, the simulated results are compared with the measured data and a good agreement is noticed.

    摘要: A novel slotted cavity–backed patch antenna with defected ground structure (DGS) is proposed in this paper. This slotted cavity–backed antenna is composed of a square patch with a metal square-loop as radiator, a cross-shaped slotted square patch as defected ground structure (DGS) and a metal backed-cavity. Both of the square patch and metal square-loop have four square slots. Simulated results shows that the impedance bandwidth with a return loss better than 10dB is 6MHz at 420MHz and the impedance bandwidth is 10MHz at 480MHz. The antenna exhibits stable radiation pattern over the operation frequency band. The profile and size of the proposed RHCP antenna are 1.0mm (0.001λ0) and 77mm×77mm (0.12λ0×0.12λ0), both of which are extremely small.

  • Guanosine Assembly Enabled Gold Nanorods with Dual Thermo- and Photoswitchable Plasmonic Chiroptical Activity

    摘要: Noble metal nanostructures with plasmonic circular dichroism (PCD) have attracted interest and a modulation of PCD is of great importance for their potential applications. Herein, we propose a supramolecular strategy for achieving dual thermal and photo-switchable PCD. When guanosine (G), deoxyguanosine (dG) and boric acid modified achiral gold nanorods (GNRs) were co-assembled into hydrogel, hybrid nanofibers with PCD were produced. When the hydrogel was heated, the nanofiber was disassembled and the PCD disappeared. Since the hydrogel was thermally reversible, a thermo-controlled PCD could be realized. The hybrid hydrogel also showed photo-switchable PCD. When the gel was irradiated with IR laser, the PCD disappeared. It can be restored by placing at room temperature. Moreover, the hybrid gel was selectively response to the circularly polarized light (CPL). For (G/dG)-GNRs hybrid assemblies, the R-CPL irradiation showed higher photothermal efficiency than that of L-CPL, which made it useful for an IR-irradiation controlled release of drug molecules.

  • Wideband circular polarized Fabry-Perot cavity antennas for V-band indoor point-to-point communications

    摘要: In this paper, a 60 GHz planar Fabry-Perot cavity (FPC) antenna with a circularly polarized (CP) radiation characteristic is proposed as a good candidate for millimeter-wave wireless systems. A sparse array design is employed to enhance the gain bandwidth (GBW) product of the antenna. Complete formulations for circular polarized radiation are developed to serve as a general guideline scalable to any frequencies. The theoretical results using ideal point sources are validated by numerical analysis using the finite elements method (FEM). In the full-wave simulations, the ideal sources are replaced by four annular-ring slot antennas to excite the FPC.

  • Chiral Reduced-Dimensional Perovskite for Efficient Flexible Circularly Polarized Light Photodetector

    摘要: Advancements in exploring new chiral perovskites are highly demanded to improve the circular polarized light (CPL) detection efficiency to date. Reduced-dimensional (quasi-2D) perovskites thus emerged as the most promising candidates due to its appealing characteristics. We herein reported new chiral quasi-2D perovskite single crystals (SCs) synthesis, and investigate their CPL detecting capability for the first time. We proved quasi-2D chiral perovskites, [(R)-β-MPA]2MAPb2I7 ((R)-β-MPA = (R)-(+)-β-methylphenethylamine, MA = methylammonium), do possess intrinsic chirality and have the capability to distinguish different polarization states of CPL photons. Corresponding quasi-2D perovskite SCs CPL photodetector exhibit excellent detection performance. In particular, our device responsivity is almost one order of magnitude higher than the best reported 2D perovskite CPL detectors to date. On this basis, we carefully modulate the film’s crystallization dynamics to facilitate its carrier transport. We prove that parallelly oriented perovskite films with homogeneous energy landscape are crucial to maximize the device’s carrier collection efficiency. The obtained responsivity and linear dynamic range (LDR) of this flexible chiral quasi-2D perovskite thin-film photodetector are comparable with the best reported results to date. The photodetector also exhibits superior mechanical flexibility and durability, representing one of the most sensitive and robust CPL photodetector to date.
