摘要: This paper presents a technique to compare two current transformers, or a current transformer and ac current shunts, with an uncertainty better than 1 μA/A and 1 μrad at audio frequencies. Examples of such a comparison at frequencies from 10 Hz to 10 kHz are given. Due to its low uncertainty, the described technique made it possible to accurately measure critical parameters such as common-mode dependence of a current transformer and impedance variation of current shunts with ac current applied.

摘要: The noise and stability of a commercial current source is limited by the quality of components used for construction, such as the voltage reference chips, resistors, and power supplies. A state-of-the-art commercial current source typically exhibits a stability no better than parts in 107. In this paper, we present a way to implement a current source with “external” electrical references. This approach allows the current source stability to be decoupled from the noise characteristics of the main power supply circuit. A few parts in 108 stability is demonstrated here.

摘要: Following the established two-stage conception for the realization of the ultrastable low-noise current amplifier, new variants have been tailored to meet the special requirements of demanding applications. Changes include new components selected according to stability criteria and new design parameters. For most of these variants, calibration capabilities based on a cryogenic current comparator setup have been developed. The overview given in this contribution will focus on aspects of the achievable measurement uncertainty.

摘要: This paper describes the implementation of a sampling wattmeter for the measurement of sinusoidal active and reactive power over the 50 Hz to 6 kHz frequency range, 20 V to 600 V voltage range, and 0.05 A to 80 A current range. The wattmeter is capable of measuring sinusoidal and distorted voltage and current signals with up to 100 harmonics of the fundamental frequency component. Details of the system design, measurement techniques, and signi?cant sources of error are presented.

摘要: Energy neutral computing is seen as a design approach for wireless sensor nodes (WSN) which are powered by energy harvesters. The approach relies on keeping an equilibrium between consumption and harvesting of energy and typically uses models for energy prediction and management. To adapt models to specific systems and environments, often characterization measurements are used. Measurements strongly influence the model quality and with this the usability of such WSN. In this paper a novel measurement system (PiEMS) is presented that outperforms existing approaches and helps to optimize typical characterization tasks. The increased accuracy of characterization and modeling are exemplified for different WSN applications.

摘要: Tunable barrier single-electron pumps (SEPs) have recently shown their great potential as high precision current source with direct link to the electron charge. The quantization of SEPs realized in gallium-arsenide semiconductors and driven by a single alternating control voltage routinely shows sub-ppm accuracy when applying high magnetic field. However, their accuracy without field is presently much lower. We now have found that modulation of two gates can increase accuracy in zero magnetic field and have confirmed the current quantization I = ef for a frequency of 84.5 MHz within the measurement uncertainty of less than 1 ppm.

摘要: Beyond 1 A (from 2 A to 100 A typically) standard current shunts are currently calibrated in magnitude up to 100 kHz and in phase angle up to 200 kHz. For such high current levels and above these frequencies the existing traceable measurement methods are not able to characterize current shunts and cannot provide the phase and magnitude of impedance simultaneously. This paper briefly describes a new broadband method for measuring current shunt standards beyond 1 A in the megahertz region and presents experimental results demonstrating the efficiency of this approach.

摘要: A method for the measurement of the remnant polarisation charge of ferroelectric ?lms at the nanoscale is proposed. It is based on current measurement by an atomic force microscope and imposes a capacitive correction in order to extract the signal from the noise, several orders of magnitude higher than the signal to be measured. A remnant charge of 4.2 fC could be measured on a PbZrTiO3 thin ?lm. Solutions to decrease the noise are proposed.

摘要: An ultrastable low-noise current amplifier (ULCA) has been transferred between two laboratories, NPL and PTB, four times, with three of the transfers yielding a relative change in the trans-resistance gain of less than 2×10-7. This is a new benchmark for inter-laboratory transfer of small current.
