Direct Generation of a Laguerre-Gaussian-Mode Optical Vortex Beam in a Single-Frequency Nd:YVO4 Unidirectional Ring Laser
摘要: A single-frequency, unidirectional ring laser with a ?rst order Laguerre-Gaussian (LG01) mode output end-pumped by using a ring-shaped pump beam is reported. This approach has been applied to a diode-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser in a traveling wave resonator con?guration yielding 2.1 W and 1.5 W of single-frequency LG01 mode outputs with helical wavefronts of left- and right-handedness, respectively. Moreover, we show that its wavefront helicity can be switched by changing the lasing direction and frequency. The selection mechanism of the wavefront helicity and the prospects of this approach are discussed.

Passively Q-switched laser using PtSe2 as saturable absorber at 1.3 μm
摘要: We report a passively Q-switched Nd:YVO4 laser at 1341.5 nm by using few-layer Platinum diselenide (PtSe2) as the saturable absorber (SA). The nonlinear saturable absorption properties of the PtSe2 at 1.3 μm were measured, showing a modulation depth of 7% and a saturation intensity of 25 GW/cm2, respectively. The maximum Q-switched pulse average power was 209 mW under the absorbed pump power of 3.62 W. The shortest pulse duration and the highest pulse repetition rate was 775 ns and 103.5 kHz, respectively. The instability (output powers, rms) of the Q-switched pulse was measured to be about 0.63% for one hour. The results indicated that the PtSe2 have a good performance as a potential SA in the 1.3 μm spectral range.

摘要: High power continuous-wave operation of a diode-pumped Yb:YAP laser was demonstrated. The laser generated >7 W of output power with 22 W of pump power with the slope efficiency of around 70% while maintaining high beam quality. The combination of high thermal conductivity and broad gain bandwidth makes this laser host an attractive candidate for high power CW and ultrashort pulse generation.

Optimization and Characterization of High-Harmonic Generation for Probing Solid Density Plasmas
摘要: The creation of high energy density plasma states produced during laser–solid interaction on a sub-picosecond timescale opens a way to create astrophysical plasmas in the lab to investigate their properties, such as the frequency-dependent refractive index. Available probes to measure absorption and phase-changes given by the complex refractive index of the plasma state are extreme-UV (EUV) and soft X-ray (XUV) ultra-short pulses from high harmonic generation (HHG). For demanding imaging applications such as single-shot measurements of solid density plasmas, the HHG probe has to be optimized in photon number and characterized in intensity and wavefront stability from shot-to-shot. In an experiment, a coherent EUV source based on HHG driven by a compact diode-pumped laser is optimized in photons per pulse for argon and xenon, and the shot-to-shot intensity stability and wavefront changes are characterized. The experimental results are compared to an analytical model estimating the HHG yield, showing good agreement. The obtained values are compared to available data for solid density plasmas to con?rm the feasibility of HHG as a probe.
