CaTiO3:Er3+:Yb3+ Upconversion from 980 nm and 1550 nm Excitation and its Potential as Cells Luminescent Probes
摘要: CaTiO3:xEr3+:yYb3+ (x = 0.3mol%; y = 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 mol%) was synthesized by the sol-gel process. Crystal phase purity, crystallite sizes and microstrain were evaluated as a function of rare earths concentration through XRD and SEM techniques. Upconversion (UC) spectra were recorded at 300 K under excitation at 980 nm and 1550 nm. The samples showed higher intensity of green emission assigned to the upconversion phenomena compared to the red one, when excited at 980 nm and the opposite was observed when excitation was performed at 1550 nm. The nanoparticles CaTiO3:Er3+:Yb3+ were successfully applied as animals cells cytoplasm staining luminescent probes, with low cytotoxic effect being observed. Er3+ emission at 1550 nm was also proposed for in vitro or in vivo optical imaging analysis in the so-called second window (1350 - 2300 nm).

Structural properties of Urfa stone doped with erbium oxide
摘要: In this study, we investigated the structural properties of Urfa stone (US) doped with erbium oxide (Er2O3). Solid US was powdered by using an agate mortar, and its elemental composition was determined using inductive coupling plasma (ICP) methods. Varying amounts of Er2O3 (5, 10, 20, 30, and 40%) were added as a dopant to the US powder using mechanical alloying methods. The resultant samples were sintered at 1000 °C for 1 h. The structural properties of the Er2O3-doped US samples were subsequently investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR), and photoluminescence methods. Results from the XRD analysis of the Er2O3-doped US powder indicated two crystalline phases: (1) calcium oxide (CaO) or lime and (2) Er2O3. After the samples were sintered at 1000 °C, CaO, Er2O3, calcium carbonate (CaCO3), and mixed crystalline phases were observed. Results from the FTIR analysis of the Er2O3-doped US samples indicated absorption bands at 711.91, 872.08, and 1396.87 cm?1 in the spectra. Finally, photoluminescence analysis results indicated a shift in the emission and excitation bands to longer and shorter wavelengths, respectively, in the solid state (non-aqueous media) US-Er complex.

Vortex patterns in rotating dipolar Bose-Einstein condensate mixtures with squared optical lattices
摘要: Vortex lattice patterns with transitions from regular to other variety vortex shapes are predicted in rotating binary mixtures of dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates loaded in squared optical lattice. We focus our investigation in the experimentally accessible dipolar isotopes of dysprosium (162,164Dy), erbium (168Er), chromium (52Cr), and rubidium (87Rb), by considering the binary mixtures (164Dy-162Dy, 168Er-164Dy, 164Dy-52Cr and 164Dy-87Rb), which are con?ned in strong pancake-shaped trap and loaded in squared two-dimensional optical lattices, where we vary the polarization angle of dipoles, the inter-species contact interactions and the rotation frequency. The ratio between inter- to intra-species contact interaction is used for altering the miscibility properties; with the polarization of the dipolar species used for tuning to repulsive or attractive the dipole-dipole interactions. For enough higher rotation, of particular interest is the regime when the inter- to intra-species scattering in which a richer variety of vortex-lattice patterns are length is larger than one, predicted, including vortex sheets and two-dimensional rotating droplet formations. The patterns can be controlled by changing the optical lattice parameters, as shown for the symmetric 164Dy-162Dy dipolar mixture. For mixtures with stronger di?erences in the dipole moments, as 164Dy-52Cr and 164Dy-87Rb, only half quantum vortices and circular ones have been observed, which will depend on the dipole orientations.

Site occupancy and electric-field induced strain response of Er-doped (Bi0.4Na0.4Sr0.2)TiO3 ceramics
摘要: Er-doped (Bi0.4Na0.4Sr0.2)TiO3 powders were prepared by solid state reactions according to A-site donor (Bi0.4-x/3Na0.4-x/3Sr0.2-x/3Erx)TiO3 (x ? 0.0.015 and 0.02) and B-site acceptor (Bi0.4Na0.4Sr0.2)Ti1-yEryO3 (y ? 0, 0.015 and 0.02) substitutional doping mechanisms. In both cases, room-temperature X-ray diffraction analyses revealed a decrease of the unit cell volume with increasing Er contents, suggesting A-site occupancy to be thermodynamically more favourable. Over the 25e175 (cid:2)C temperature range, A-site doped ceramics, in particular x ? 0.015, showed enhanced thermal stability of the maximum achievable electric-?eld induced strain. Importantly, this minor doping level also reduced dielectric loss at high temperature and led to a transition from non-ergodic to ergodic relaxor behaviour. These results may further motivate the study of the impact of other minor dopants in this family of Pb-free piezoceramics.

Substrate Temperature Dependent Properties of Sputtered AlN:Er Thin Film for In-Situ Luminescence Sensing of Al/AlN Multilayer Coating Health
摘要: The integrity and reliability of surface protective coatings deposited on metal surface could be in-situ monitored via the attractive luminescence sensing technique. In this paper, we report the influence of substrate temperature on the properties of erbium (Er) doped aluminum nitride (AlN) film, which could be applied as a luminescent layer for monitoring the health of multilayered Al/AlN coating. The AlN:Er films were deposited via reactive radio-frequency magnetron sputtering, and the silicon substrate temperature was varied from non-intentional heating up to 400 ?C. The composition, morphology, crystalline structure, and dielectric function of the AlN:Er films deposited under these different substrate temperature conditions were studied. These properties of the AlN:Er films show strong correlation with the substrate temperature maintained during film fabrication. The obtained AlN:Er films, without further annealing, exhibited photoluminescence peaks of the Er3+ ions in the visible wavelength range and the strongest photoluminescence intensity was observed for the AlN:Er film deposited with the temperature of substrate kept at 300 ?C. The results demonstrated in this work offer guidance to optimize the substrate temperature for the deposition of AlN:Er film for future application of this sensing technique to thin metal components.

Investigation of the Brillouin effect in highly nonlinear hafnium bismuth erbium doped fiber
摘要: This paper demonstrates the generation of the Brillouin fiber laser (BFL) with 0.5 m long hafnium bismuth erbium doped fiber (HBEDF) as a hybrid gain medium. As the gain medium is pumped by a 980 nm laser diode at the power of 170 mW, a stable Stokes is observed at the output power of ?2.96 dBm with Brillouin pump (BP) power of 3 dBm. The laser operates at wavelength shifted by 0.09 nm from the BP. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first report of a compact BFL without employing any lengthy SMF, which features a simple cavity configuration.

Enhanced red luminescence by gamma irradiation on GdPO4:Er3+@SiO2 nanophosphor
摘要: The influence of gamma radiation on enhancement of red emission from Er3+ doped GdPO4@SiO2 nanophosphors was investigated. The luminescent emission was recorded after photoexcitation at 462 nm. The strong red luminescence at 690 nm corresponds to 4F9/2 → 4I15/2 transition. The luminescence intensity of the prepared phosphor had enhanced 2-4 folds and 4-6 fold after exposing to 150 kGy and 300 kGy gamma radiation, respectively. A linear response between luminescence intensity and irradiation dose was observed through PL dosimetry study. These biocompatible nanophosphors may have promising applications in biomedical and optoelectronic fields.

Er-doped antimonite Sb2O3?PbO?ZnO/ZnS glasses studied by low-temperature photoluminescence spectroscopy
摘要: Antimonite glasses Sb2O3?PbO?ZnO/ZnS doped with ErCl3 within the range of 0.25-1.0% were prepared and investigated by means of transmission, photoluminescence excitation and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. In the studied glasses, the wavelength of 522 nm was found to be the most suitable for PL excitation of Er3+ ions doped in both the NIR and VIS spectral ranges. The PL spectra excited by wavelengths at 522 and/or 514.5 nm were measured at room and low temperatures (4 K) in the wavelength range of 400–1700 nm. Low-temperature PL spectroscopy allowed us to observe both the broad luminescence of the host glass centered at around 1050 nm and the narrow emissions caused by Er3+ ions. Special attention was given to the wavelengths where the broad-band luminescence of the host overlaps with 4f–4f transitions within Er3+ ions. A broad PL band of the host glass was observed together with a superimposed narrow emission band at 985 nm (4I11/2? 4I15/2) and a narrow absorption dip at about 970 nm (4I15/2? 4I11/2). This absorption dip is a direct experimental evidence of energy transfer from the electronic structure of the host glass to 4f states of doped-in Er3+ ions. The strongest PL band at 1530 nm, representing transition from the lowest excited manifold 4I13/2 to the ground state manifold 4I15/2 was measured at 300 K and 4 K. The broadening at elevated temperature occurs primarily in the high energy part of the spectrum due to thermal excitation of electrons within the 4I13/2 manifold.

We evaluate the CAPEX gain involved by their utilization as line amplifiers and the energy consumption reduction induced by the pump sharing between the 12 cores. We also evaluate the impact of the inter-core crosstalk in the MC-EYDFA on the quality of transmission through the use of the Gaussian noise model.

The peculiarities of structural and optical properties of HfO2-based films co-doped with silicon and erbium
摘要: The effect of deposition conditions and further annealing treatment on microstructure and optical properties of (Si,Er)-codoped HfO2 thin films is investigated. The films are grown on silicon substrates by RF magnetron co-sputtering of Si and erbium oxide pellets on a HfO2 target. As-deposited and annealed samples are examined by means of spectroscopic ellipsometry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and photoluminescence method. It is demonstrated that the variation of RF power density allows monitoring the dopant content. An annealing of the samples at 800-1100°C for 10-60 min in nitrogen atmosphere results in the phase separation and the formation of HfO2, SiO2 and pure silicon phases. The films annealed at 900-950°C demonstrate the red luminescence that is ascribed to the carrier recombination in Si nanocrystals. Annealing at higher temperatures causes an enhancement of rare-earth luminescence under non-resonant excitation providing an additional argument toward the formation of silicon nanoclusters. The mechanism of the excitation of Er ions is found to be similar to that of Si-rich-SiO2 films doped with rare-earths. The Si nanocrystals are considered as the main sensitizer at visible excitation while the energy transfer from host defects dominates at ultraviolet-deep blue illumination.
