摘要: This paper provides a detailed description of a novel solution which combines the CAD lighting design software with the on-site measurement. New technology illuminance spectroradiometers able to handle measurement procedure to verify lighting levels and other quality measures using CAD plans as a reference and reporting illuminance level back to the design software. It also discusses the use of Imaging Luminance Measurement Devices in the practical verification of luminance levels inside and outside buildings. Available design tools support designers with calculation and simulation of luminance levels but little is available when the onsite software and hardware tools are available for onsite verification. This is especially critical for verification of architectural and road lighting installation.

Statistical evaluation of corner detectors: does the statistical test have an effect?
摘要: This study explores the use of several non-parametric statistical tests for evaluating the performances of computer vision algorithms, specifically corner detectors, as a more reliable alternative to the graphical approaches that have been commonly employed to date. Using synthetic images carrying corners of different internal angles and orientations and a carefully designed testing framework, a ranking of the performances of corner detectors was established. It was found that Harris & Stephens and SUSAN out-performed more modern detectors. These are one of the few examples where evaluation of vision operators independent of the application has predicted performance in a real-world problem. A similar exercise on real images of the same patterns produced similar results and the findings of a real-world application that uses corners to identify signage were also consistent. Together, all of the tests considered essentially perform pairwise comparisons of performance, so when many algorithms are involved it is important to take account of the potential for type I statistical errors. Several approaches were evaluated and none were found to affect the conclusions.

Body diagonal error measurement and evaluation of a multiaxis machine tool using a multibeam laser interferometer
摘要: To comprehensively evaluate the accuracy and performance of machine tools, in this paper, a novel measuring method for the body diagonal error of a machine tool using a multibeam laser interferometer as the measuring instrument is proposed. On this basis, a three-dimensional evaluation method for the body diagonal error of a machine tool is proposed. First, a method of measuring the body diagonal error of a machine tool by using a multibeam laser interferometer is proposed. Six errors for the body diagonal of a machine tool can be measured simultaneously, including three position deviations and three angle errors. The mathematical model of the relationship between the measured data and the volumetric error is established. Second, a new evaluation method for the body diagonal error is presented that takes the position deviation and attitude error into consideration. The advantage of this evaluation method is that it fills in the blanks in the evaluation method for the body diagonal error. The method can also be applied to the evaluation of linear axis error. Finally, the proposed measurement method is applied to a vertical three-axis machining centre, and the experimental results show that this measuring method is quite convenient and effective for measuring the body diagonal error of a machine tool. The proposed method is used to evaluate the body diagonal error from measurement data. The results show that the positioning error of the machine tool is 49.37 μm; the repeatability of the positioning error is 36.85 μm; and the angle errors are ? 22.47 μm/m, ? 70.9 μm/m and 29.7 μm/m. The traditional method (ISO230-6) is used to evaluate the body diagonal error from measurement data. The results show that the positioning error of the machine tool is 49.4 μm. Compared with the traditional method, the information from the proposed evaluation method is more abundant, and the evaluation method is systematic and universal.

摘要: The Hausdorff distance (HD) between two point sets is a commonly used dissimilarity measure for comparing point sets and image segmentations. Especially when very large point sets are compared using the HD, for example when evaluating magnetic resonance volume segmentations, or when the underlying applications are based on time critical tasks, like motion detection, then the computational complexity of HD algorithms becomes an important issue. In this paper we propose a novel efficient algorithm for computing the exact Hausdorff distance. In a runtime analysis, the proposed algorithm is demonstrated to have nearly-linear complexity. Furthermore, it has efficient performance for large point set sizes as well as for large grid size; performs equally for sparse and dense point sets; and finally it is general without restrictions on the characteristics of the point set. The proposed algorithm is tested against the HD algorithm of the widely used national library of medicine insight segmentation and registration toolkit (ITK) using magnetic resonance volumes with extremely large size. The proposed algorithm outperforms the ITK HD algorithm both in speed and memory required. In an experiment using trajectories from a road network, the proposed algorithm significantly outperforms an HD algorithm based on R-Trees.

Technical-economic analysis of the first mini-generation photovoltaic system of Piau?-, Brazil
摘要: The first distributed mini-generation photovoltaic system in the state of Piauí was installed on the Floriano campus of the Federal Institute of Piauí. The system consists of 660 photovoltaic modules and occupies an area of approximately 1.122 m2 of roof. This article aims to evaluate the performance of the first year of operation, which runs from May 2016 to June 2017, compared to technical and economic aspects. The technical analysis was done through the calculation of the indexes of merit: Final Productivity Performance Rate and Capacity Factor. In the economic viability analysis were used the concepts of Net Present Value, Internal Rate of Return, Payback and Cost-Benefit Ratio. The results demonstrate that the system has technical feasibility, since it presented a good generation in its first year of operation, with production superior to other systems installed in public educational institutions of Brazil. In addition, it has shown a positive balance in the Net Present Value, but with a long Payback and a very high Cost-Benefit Ratio, which may compromise its economic viability. However, in view of the institution's final activity, the installation of the photovoltaic system will bring benefits beyond the reduction of electricity consumption, if used in teaching, research and extension activities.

摘要: The increasing complexity of laser systems, e.g. LiDAR systems and medical devices, which combine scanned and pulsed light sources, complicates their evaluation in compliance with the current laser safety standard. In addition, the safety standard is becoming increasingly more complex and requires thorough background knowledge. We propose a tool that evaluates ocular safety of laser systems based on damage modelling. Therefore ray tracing software, which takes into account the specific optical design, is combined with damage predictions e.g. based on the Arrhenius integral in the case of thermal damage. The potential for adopting this easy-to-use software package as an alternative to the laser safety standard is discussed. For a complete hazard evaluation, we aim to include damage modelling in the photochemical, thermomechanical and photomechanical regimes. This approach might be particularly attractive for manufacturers to improve their products optical design in terms of eye safety.

摘要: This paper provides an overview of the main features of several bibliometric indicators which were proposed in the last few decades. Their pros and cons are highlighted and compared with the features of the well-known impact factor (IF) to show how alternative metrics are specifically designed to address the flaws that the IF was shown to have, especially in the last few years. We also report the results of recent studies in the bibliometric literature showing how the scientific impact of journals as evaluated by bibliometrics is a very complicated matter and it is completely unrealistic to try to capture it by any single indicator, such as the IF or any other. As such, we conclude that the adoption of more metrics, with complementary features, to assess journal quality would be very beneficial as it would both offer a more comprehensive and balanced view of each journal in the space of scholarly publications, as well as eliminate the pressure on individuals and their incentive to do metric manipulation which is an unintended result of the current (mis)use of the IF as the gold standard for publication quality.

摘要: In January 2016, Li et al. introduced an impossible differential fault analysis on the LED cryptosystem. If one random nibble fault is injected into the preantepenultimate round of LED, 48 fault injections are required to recover the secret key. In this comment, we provide an improved scheme with theoretical analysis and experimental results. Under the same fault model, our analysis can reduce the key search space of LED to 27.92 on average with only ONE fault. The key extraction takes about 13.84 seconds on average.

Optical properties and colorimetric evaluation of resin cements formulated with thio-urethane oligomers
摘要: Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the color parameters and optical properties of resin cements (RCs) formulated with thio-urethanes (TUs). Materials and methods: Six TUs were synthesized by combining thiols (pentaerythritol tetra-3-mercaptopropionate [PETMP] or trimethylol-tris-3-mercaptopropionate [TMP]) with di-functional isocyanates (1,6-Hexanediol-diissocyante [HDDI] [aliphatic-AL] or 1,3-bis(1-isocyanato-1-methylethyl) benzene [BDI] [aromatic-AR] or Dicyclohexylmethane 4,40-Diisocyanate [HMDI] [cyclic-CC]). TUs (20 wt%) were added to a BisGMA/UDMA/TEGDMA matrix. Filler was introduced at 60 wt%. Fluorescence was evaluated through an UV-light emitting equipment. Coordinates L*, a*, and b* were obtained in the black and white reflectance to evaluate the contrast ratio (CR) and translucency parameter (TP00). The coordinates obtained from transmittance were used to evaluate lightness (L*), chroma (C*), color difference (ΔE00) after 6 month, and whiteness index for Dentistry (WID). Results: RCs formulated with TUs presented significantly higher CR, and fluorescence (with T_AR). Significantly lower C*, L*, and TP00 (except for P_AR and T_AL) were also observed in RCs containing TUs. ΔE00 were not significant among the materials. WID was not influenced. Conclusion: RCs composed by TU oligomers present higher CR and lower translucency. The material also present higher fluorescence depending on the oligomer used. Clinical Significance: The use of thio-urethanes to formulate resin cements can ensure a luting material with improved potential to mask colored substrates due to the higher contrast ratio and lower translucency obtained. A final higher fluorescence of restoration is also expected with the use of specific oligomer.
