  • Steady-State Spin Squeezing Generated in Diamond Nanostructures Coupled to Carbon Nanotubes

    摘要: Spin squeezed state, as an important quantum resource, can be used to implement the high precise measurement beyond the standard quantum limit. Based on the recent novel scheme that strong magnetomechanical interaction between a single Nitrogen-vacancy (NV) spin and the vibrational mode of the suspended nanotube is engineered (Li et al. Phys. Rev. Lett. 117, 015502 2016), we investigate the steady-state spin squeezing behaviors of a spin ensemble in diamond coupled to carbon nanotubes by exerting a controllable microwave field. We show that steady-state spin squeezing can be generated with the help of the microwave field, despite the damping from mechanical damping. This investigation based on spin-spin interaction in diamond might apply to magnetometers, interferometry, and other precision measurement measurements.

  • Probing Vacuum Polarization Effects with High-Intensity Lasers

    摘要: These notes provide a pedagogical introduction to the theoretical study of vacuum polarization effects in strong electromagnetic fields as provided by state-of-the-art high-intensity lasers. Quantum vacuum fluctuations give rise to effective couplings between electromagnetic fields, thereby supplementing Maxwell’s linear theory of classical electrodynamics with nonlinearities. Resorting to a simplified laser pulse model, allowing for explicit analytical insights, we demonstrate how to efficiently analyze all-optical signatures of these effective interactions in high-intensity laser experiments. Moreover, we highlight several key features relevant for the accurate planning and quantitative theoretical analysis of quantum vacuum nonlinearities in the collision of high-intensity laser pulses.

    摘要: Due to the movement of the main magnet, the effect of the external field is a critical problem in the joule balance. The FEM simulations of the external field both in the electromagnet system and permanent magnet system are performed in this paper. The results show that although the error caused by the external field is much smaller in the permanent magnet system than that in the electromagnet system, it still needs to be further reduced. More efficient solutions should be considered to eliminate the effect of the external field when the permanent magnet system is used.
