Direct Amplification of High Energy Pulsed Laser in Fiber-Single Crystal Fiber with High Average Power
摘要: A laser master oscillator power ampli?er (MOPA) system consisting of a ?ber ampli?er and a two-stage Yb:YAG single crystal ?ber (SCF) is experimentally studied. The nonlinear stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) is avoided by limiting the output power of the ?ber preampli?er to 600 mW. Due to the bene?t from the low nonlinearity and high ampli?cation gain of the SCF, a laser pulse duration of 16.95 ps and a high average power of 41.7 W at a repetition rate of 250 kHz are obtained by using a two-stage polarization controlled double-pass ampli?cation of Yb:YAG SCF, corresponding to an output energy of 166.8 μJ and a peak power of 9.84 MW, respectively. The polarization controlled SCF ampli?cation scheme achieved a gain as high as more than 69 times. During the ampli?cation, the spectra gain narrowing e?ect and the polarization controlled four-pass ampli?cation setup are also studied. The laser spectrum is narrowed from over 10 nm to less than 3 nm, and the pulse width is also compressed to hundreds of femtosecond by dechirping the laser pulse. This compact-sized, cost-e?ective laser source can be used in laser micromachining, or as the seeder source for generating much higher power and energy laser for scienti?c research. For some applications which need femtosecond laser, this laser source can also be compressed to femtosecond regime.

Comparative analysis of capacity oriented Integrated AMI modulation technique for the deployment of radio over fiber system
摘要: To improve the spectral efficiency and to reduce non-linear distortion in the optical system, various advanced modulation techniques have been investigated for radio over fiber (RoF) system. The investigation indicates the high data rate distortion less transmission for long-haul RoF system still further investigation is required to improve spectral efficiency and to get the reduction in signal degradation. In this paper, an advanced modulation technique referred as integrated alternate mark inversion modulation technique based upon external modulation (electro-absorption modulator) has been designed and simulated. The results show better performance in terms of performance metrics i.e. Q-factor (25.15) and BER (4e-140) and also enhance the data transmission capabilities up to 100 Gbps covering the long distance of 250 km resulting a reasonable reduction in signal degradation particularly chromatic dispersion effects for long-haul transmissions.

Theoretical Investigation of Thermal Effects in High Power Er <sup>3+</sup> /Yb <sup>3+</sup> - Codoped Double-Clad Fiber Amplifiers for Space Applications
摘要: In this paper, a multiphysics numerical model based on the spatial-dependent rate equations and 3-D non-homogeneous heat conduction model is used to investigate the performance of Er3t/Yb3t-codoped double-clad fiber amplifiers with respect to the constraints associated with space applications. The effects of fiber length, coating thickness, and core radius changes are analyzed. Furthermore, the impact of thermal heating due to the high power optical signals propagating along the fiber on the amplifier gain is examined. The temperature dependence of the refractive index, emission and absorption cross sections, as well as the radiation induced attenuation is derived and modeled. It is observed that the coating thickness affects the temperature distribution along the whole fiber length. Thicker coating mitigates the temperature variation along the fiber as well as it improves the temperature difference between the core center and the outer fiber surface. Moreover, larger core results in higher optical gain and shorter fibers. By numerical results, it is inferred that the thermal effects could strongly degrade the whole amplifier performance.

摘要: Millimeter Waves (MMWs) operating at 30–300 GHz band, is very encouraging to the next-generation 5G wireless communication systems, supporting data rates of multiple Gbps per user. By using the Four Wave Mixing (FWM), Self-Phase Modulation (SPM) and Cross Phase Modulation (XPM) effects in the Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (SOA) and Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA), the photonic millimeter switching is realized. These effects can reduce the switching crosstalk since the Optical Single Sideband (OSSB) signal occupies the least optical bandwidth. The best operating conditions improve the Sideband Suppression Ratio (SSR) and at the same time reduce the intensity of unintended sideband signal. This leads to a dispersion-free transmission in the optical fiber and improves the data rate as required in 5G communication. In this paper, the wavelength switching of a 9 Gbps QPSK signal carried on the 30 GHz over a spacing of 1.6 nm as a function of probe wavelength of 1548.515 nm and pump wavelength of 1550.115 nm is achieved.

Femtosecond Red and Near-Infrared Lasers Due to Cascaded-Raman-Assisted Four-Wave Mixing in a Nonlinear Yb-Doped Fiber Amplifier
摘要: We demonstrated a straightforward approach to generate red and near-infrared laser emissions by a Raman-assisted four wave mixing (FWM) process in a nonlinear Yb-doped fiber amplifier, delivering 342 fs pulses of 241 nJ at 864 nm, 834 fs pulses of 21 nJ at 751 nm, and 1.9 ps pulses of 3.8 μJ at 1030 nm. A pair of gratings was employed as the pre-compressor to promote the intensity of the fundamental wave in the main amplifier. Multiple wavelengths from 751 to 1273 nm resulted due to cascaded-Raman-assisted FWM. The pre-compression also underlay the achievement of 25.1, 701, and 2000 kW peak power for the red (751 nm), near-infrared (864 nm), and fundamental (1030 nm) components respectively, which restrained the gain narrowing effect during the amplification. It finally led to shorter pulse duration under increased power.

Ghost Spectroscopy with Classical Correlated Amplified Spontaneous Emission Photons Emitted by An Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier
摘要: We demonstrate wavelength-wavelength correlations of classical broad-band amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) photons emitted by an erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) in a wavelength regime around 1530 nm. We then apply these classical correlated photons in the framework of a real-world ghost spectroscopy experiment at a wavelength of 1533 nm to acetylene (C2H2) reproducing the characteristic absorption features of the C-H stretch and rotational bands. This proof-of-principle experiment confirms the generalization of an ASE source concept offering an attractive light source for classical ghost spectroscopy. It is expected that this will enable further disseminating ghost modality schemes by exploiting classical correlated photons towards applications in chemistry, physics and engineering.
