Four-Wave Mixing of a Laser and Its Frequency-Doubled Version in a Multimode Optical Fiber
摘要: It is shown that it is possible to couple a laser beam and its frequency-doubled daughter into a multimode optical ?ber through the four-wave mixing nonlinear process and generate a new wavelength. The frequency-doubled daughter can be generated in an external crystal with a large second order nonlinearity. It is argued that while this possibility is within the design parameter range of conventional multimode optical ?bers, it necessitates a lower-bound for the core-cladding refractive index contrast of the multimode optical ?ber.

摘要: Optical phase conjugation is a well-known technique to provide dispersion and nonlinearity compensation directly in the optical domain. The link properties play an important role in the achievable improvements in transmission reach/rate. Here, we review our recent investigations on the impact of sub-optimum transmission links as well as our effort on the implementation of the optical phase conjugator itself looking beyond using highly nonlinear fibers as nonlinear medium and focusing on integrated silicon waveguides. Preliminary results on combining optical phase conjugation with digital techniques such as probabilistic shaping will also be discussed.

Parametric Nonlinear Silicon-Based Photonicsv
摘要: Integrated silicon photonics is revolutionizing the field of optical communications as hybrid photonic/electronic integrated circuits made from this semiconductor material can seamlessly process signals spanning both the optical and electrical domains. The enormous bandwidth afforded by optical signaling enables extremely high aggregate data-rate communication signals. Correspondingly, signal processing devices must employ new mechanisms to keep up with the ever increasing need for greater capacity in communications. To this end, parametric nonlinear optical interactions in silicon-based materials provide a route toward processing and handling signal bandwidths well beyond a THz. These integrated silicon-based photonic structures also benefit from high optical confinement, large nonlinear optical responses, and long interaction lengths, making them highly suitable for power-efficient parametric nonlinear optical interactions. In particular, the parametric nonlinear optical interaction of four-wave mixing (FWM) in silicon-based photonic devices has enabled a wealth of devices for next-generation information handling applications including communications, all-optical computing, metrology, and security, which will be highlighted in this review.

Optical soliton molecules in birefringent fibers having weak non-local nonlinearity and four-wave mixing with a couple of strategic integration architectures
摘要: This paper retrieves optical solitons in birefringent fibers having non-local nonlinearity in presence of four-wave mixing. Phase-matching conditions have been implemented to display these solitons. Bright, dark and singular soliton solutions are revealed.

High-Quality-Factor AlGaAs-On-Sapphire Microring Resonators
摘要: We realize an AlGaAs-on-sapphire platform through Al2O3-assisted direct wafer bonding and substrate removal processes. The direct wafer bonding process is optimized concerning the intermediate layer deposition and annealing temperature to obtain a high bonding strength between the AlGaAs and sapphire wafers. High quality-factor (Q) microring resonators are fabricated using electron-beam lithography in which the charging effect is mitigated by applying a thin aluminum layer, and a smooth pattern sidewall definition is obtained using a multi-pass (exposure) process. We achieve an intrinsic Q of up to ~460,000, which is the highest Q for AlGaAs microring resonators. Taking advantage of such high Q resonators, we demonstrate an ultra-efficient nonlinear four-wave mixing process in this platform and obtain a conversion efficiency of -19.8 dB with continuous-wave pumping at a power level of 380 μW. We also investigate the thermal resonance shift of microring resonators with different substrate layouts and observe superior temperature stability for devices in the AlGaAs-on-sapphire platform. The realization of the AlGaAs-on-sapphire platform also opens new prospects for AlGaAs devices in nonlinear applications in the mid-infrared wavelength range.

Bunching and antibunching in four wave mixing NV center in diamond
摘要: The determination of classical and quantum states through photon bunching and anti-bunching like phenomena may have potential applications in quantum information processing and long-distance quantum communications. We report the photon bunching and multi anti-bunching like phenomena by generating multi-order ?uorescence and four-wave mixing (FWM) at room temperature using the Nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center in diamond. We have implied FWM process to demonstrate the interference pattern emerging from NV of nano-crystals in classical, nonclassical and intermediate (classical and nonclassical) regimes. Intersystem crossing is controlled by the ?uence of incident beams. The interference pattern from dominant ionization of NV- to NVo and NVo to NV- suggests the bunching and anti-bunching like phenomena of photons, respectively.

TRANSMISSION WINDOW PARTITION MECHANISM IN A FOUR-WAVE MIXING BASED WDM/DWDM NETWORK
摘要: This research work proposes an e?cient four-wave mixing (FWM) based routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) scheme for the improvement of connection blocking probability in WDM/DWDM networks. However, the traditional RWA schemes are less e?cient for the better quality of transmission, and the proposed RWA scheme partitions the entire ?ber transmission window into N number of bands and assigns wavelength randomly from one of the band based on connection length. Finally, the analytical result proves that the mechanism reduces the FWM e?ect signi?cantly in terms of connection blocking probability with higher partition, lower FWM e?ect and better performance.

Effect of Fiber-Optics Nonlinearities in Long Haul and Ultra-High Speed DWDM Optical Transmission Networks at 10, 40 and 100?Gb/s Ultra-High Speed Data Rates
摘要: The impact of major nonlinearities in optical fiber such as SRR (Stimulated Raman Scattering) and Four Wave Maxing (FWM) in cascaded amplifier Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing optical long reach and high speed data rate transmission scheme have been investigated at different data rates. Pulse walk off effect is considered for the purpose of calculating Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) nonlinear factor. Examination has been accomplished to assess signal to noise ratio the consolidated impact of SRS and thinking about FWM within the sight of amplified spontaneous emission noise to achieve minutest noise at altered data rates.
