  • Analytical Performance Analysis of CdZnO/ZnO-Based Multiple Quantum Well Solar Cell

    摘要: Quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) is a potential nanoelectronic technology for information processing. To be considered as a suitable CMOS candidate, QCA must be able to implement complex real-time applications of bit-serial information processing, which lacks of enough investigation. Turbo encoding is one of such applications, which refers to three representative issues of bit-serial circuits: convolution computation, feedback, and serial data permutation. The inherent shift-register nature of QCA offers an advantage to performing convolution computation but poses handicaps to resolve the latter two issues. How to manage the ambivalent effects of shift-register nature is investigated in this paper, which determines the efficient design of Turbo encoder. A strobe scheme based on main-branch wire crossing is proposed to efficiently make data choosing that is the communally key procedure of the implementation of feedback and serial data permutation. On this basis, a method of implementing recursive convolutional encoder with multifeedback is proposed. A two-stage pipelining interleaver is presented. Finally, a Turbo encoder is implemented using QCA based on these approaches and simulation demonstrates that it performs well.

  • Interleaved Silicon Nitride AWG Spectrometers

    摘要: Interleaved arrayed waveguide gratings (AWGs) have a great potential in providing large channel counts and narrower channel spacings for many applications, including optical communication, spectroscopy, and imaging. Here, a 75-channel silicon nitride based interleaved AWG was experimentally demonstrated. The design is comprised of a 3-channel primary AWG with 1 nm of resolution and three 25-channel secondary AWGs each with 3 nm of resolution. The final device has a spectral resolution of 1 nm over 75 nm bandwidth centered at 1550 nm. Its performance is compared with a conventional AWG spectrometer with 75 nm of bandwidth and 1 nm of resolution. The interleaved AWG demultiplexer showed lower crosstalk and better uniformity in addition to being two times smaller than the conventional design.

  • Complexity considerations: efficient image transmission over mobile communications channels

    摘要: In this paper the computational complexity of the image transmission over mobile communications channel is investigated. The computational complexity due to the amount of transmitted data and the utilized data protection schemes is analyzed over wireless channel with the different image transmission scenarios. The proposed secured and efficient protection technique is presented in this research work with lower computational complexity. The presented technique is based on chaotic-Baker encryption which is utilized as an interleaver to randomize the data packet in the proposed secured interleaved channel coding technique. The proposed technique is evaluated utilizing convolutional codes with different constraint lengths and single error correction block code. Different images with the size variation are utilized for evaluating the proposed image transmission scenarios. Numerical analysis of the different scenarios is presented. The secret key generation of chaotic-Baker encryption is discussed; it can be generated automatically or manually. Several computer simulation experiments are carried out to evaluate the proposed techniques performance. Different objective measures error based metrics are used such as the Bit Error Rate (BER), Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Number of Lost packet percentage (NLP%) to measure the error performance of the proposed technique and quality of the received images. Simulation results reveal a good performance and the superiority of the proposed technique with lower computational complexity of the proposed image transmission scenarios.
