  • White Painting Pigment as a Low-Cost Light Scattering Material for Bilayer Photoelectrodes of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

    摘要: White pigment (DuPont R902+) has been used as a light scattering material in the preparation of bilayer photoelectrodes of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). The X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of the white pigment revealed that the material consists of rutile phase of titanium dioxide. The light scattering layer prepared from the white pigment was coated onto the main-layer of the photoelectrodes of DSCs. The solar cells with and without light scattering layer were tested in the simulated light of 100 mW/cm2. The DSCs with the light scattering layer generated more current density than the DSCs without scattering layer and the overall light to electric power conversion efficiency of DSCs with the light scattering layer was ~4.00 % compared with 3.25 % efficiency of the DSCs without the scattering layer.

  • Light scattering effect of polyvinyl-alcohol/titanium dioxide nanofibers in the dye-sensitized solar cell

    摘要: In the present work, polyvinyl-alcohol/titanium dioxide (PVA/TiO2) nanofibers are utilized as a light scattering layer (LSL) on top of the TiO2 nanoparticles photoanode. The TiO2 nanoparticles decorated PVA/TiO2 nanofibers display a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 4.06%, which is 33% higher than tio2 nanoparticles without LSL, demonstrating the incorporation of PVA/TiO2 nanofibers as LSL reduces the radiation loss and increases the excitation of the electron that leads to high PCE. The incorporation of PVA/TiO2 nanofibers as LSL also increases the electron life time and charge collection efficiency in comparison to the TiO2 nanoparticles without LSL.

  • Metal-organic Frameworks Derived Porous Cake-like TiO2 as an Efficient Scattering Layer for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

    摘要: Porous anatase cake-like TiO2 was prepared by annealing Ti-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) MIL-125, which was then used as an efficient scattering layer in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The morphology and structure of the prepared porous cake-like TiO2 were characterized by SEM, TEM, and XRD. DSSCs with porous cake-like TiO2 as an efficient scattering layer exhibited a photoelectric conversion efficiency (PCE) of 6.91%, which was greater than that of single P25 TiO2 based DSSCs (3.89%). The improved photoelectric conversion efficiency was attributed to the crucial role of porous cake-like TiO2 in promoting surface area and incident light scattering performance, as demonstrated by N2 adsorption/desorption isotherm analysis, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, incident photon-to-current efficiency (IPCE) analysis, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
