    摘要: Visible light communication (VLC) system is a wireless communication from light of the light emitting diode (LED). In this work, we design the voltage reference comparator circuit method for the receiver circuit with data communication via white LED. In this experiment, we evaluate the VLC system of the transmitter circuit and receiver circuit by using bits data communication with the distance 50 to 100 cm. We measure the frequency of the white LED signal detection between the transmitter circuit and the receiver circuit, which the frequency uses about 9.615 kHz. This comparator circuit method can be used to refer the voltage signals of the receiver circuit in VLC system.

  • Improvement in Light Extraction Efficiency of InGaN/GaN Blue Light Emitting Diodes Using Sidewall Texturing

    摘要: Herein, we reported the effects of the geometric morphology of the sidewall on the extraction ef?ciency of GaN-based light-emitting diodes (LEDs). We performed numerical analysis based on the ray-tracing method. We found that the extraction ef?ciency of the LEDs increased with the texturing of the sidewall. The light output intensity of the LEDs (at an injection current of 100 mA) increased by 13.8% after sidewall texturing. These results con?rmed that the geometric morphology of the sidewall plays an important role in improving the extraction ef?ciency of LEDs.

  • Dynamic Photo-Electro-Thermal Modeling of Light-Emitting Diodes with Phosphor Coating as Light Converter

    摘要: Based on the dynamic Photo-Electro-Thermal (PET) theory for LED systems, a comprehensive theory for analyzing and modeling phosphor coating in white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as a dynamic light converter has been presented in Part-I of this paper. This Part-2 of the work provides the details of the model parameter determination, model setup and experimental verification. The procedures of obtaining the parameters in the experimental setup are explained. Using the comprehensive theory, a dynamic PET computer model of a phosphor-coated LED device has been developed. The simulation results compare well with the practical measurements, confirming the validity of the comprehensive theory in Part-1 of this paper. The new model provides novel equations for new information such as the power loss in phosphor coating and transients of the light emitted from the phosphor coating. Such information can be used for the designs of LED drivers and systems.

  • New Dynamic Photo-Electro-Thermal Modeling of Light-Emitting Diodes with Phosphor Coating as Light Converter

    摘要: Phosphor-coated light-emitting diode (PC-LED) is the dominant LED technology for public lighting. This paper presents a comprehensive theory for analyzing and modeling phosphor coating in white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as a dynamic light converter. The new PC-LED model not only obeys the traditional diode equation, it includes the energy-storage and transient effects of the phosphor coating. Major control variables include energy storage in and the luminous flux from the phosphor coating. This new model enables the dynamic variations of luminous flux and energy storage and power loss in phosphor-coating to be accurately predicted. Part-1 of this paper provides the details of the theory and analysis leading to the new PC-LED model under the framework of the photo-electro-thermal theory. Details of the model parameter determination, model setup and experimental verification are included in Part-2. The model offers the important power loss equation of the phosphor coating which highlights the factors affecting the heat loss and the coating’s blackening effects. This equation can be used by engineers to design LED drivers in order to reduce the coating temperature and the blackening effects and to prolong LED lifetime.

    摘要: The fifth generation (5G) telecommunications standards are being developed to meet the growing demands for high-speed wireless networks (i.e., few tens of Gigabits per second). The 5G standard stems largely from an increasing number of users and plethora of different devices, collectively referred to as smart devices, connecting to a network as part of Internet-of-Things (IoT). A few potential technologies have emerged for 5G such as millimeter waves, massive multiple-input multiple-output, and small cell communications. Although these technologies would satisfy the requirements of 5G, there is a complementary alternative wireless technology of optical wireless communications (OWC), which is being considered. As part of OWC, visible light communications (VLC) and optical camera communications (OCC) are the most attractive options for 5G networks and beyond. VLC with huge frequency spectrum integrated with IoT can open up a wide range of indoor and outdoor applications as part of future smart environments. This paper provides an overview of the all-optical IoT (OIoT) focusing on VLC and OCC based potential applications and challenges as part of 5G standards.

  • The Design of Fused Amine/Carbonyl System for Efficient Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence: Novel Multiple Resonance Core and Electron Acceptor

    摘要: Multiple resonances induced thermally activated delayed fluorescence (MR-TADF) has great advantages in high color purity display. Up to now, current MR-TADF emitters are only based on the boron-nitrogen-containing fragment. Reported herein is a novel class of MR-TADF emitter, quinolino[3,2,1-de]acridine-5,9-dione (QAO), realized by the opposite resonance effect of the carbonyl and the nitrogen atoms, which is also the smallest TADF emitter reported so far. The QAO-based pure blue organic light-emitting diode achieves a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQEmax) of 19.4% with a small full width at half maximum of 39 nm. Moreover, tert-butyl modified QAO can be employed as an efficient electron acceptor to construct an efficient yellow-green evaporation and solution process feasible TADF emitter, 7-(tert-butyl)-3,11-bis(9,9-dimethylacridin-10(9H)-yl)quinolino[3,2,1-de]acridine-5,9-dione (QAO-DAd), with significantly improved performance as compared to the previous flexible diketone-based emitters.

  • Non-doped phosphorescent organic light-emitting devices with an exciplex forming planar structure for efficiency enhancement

    摘要: Organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) consisting of a non-doped phosphorescent dye that inserted in an exciplex forming planar structure have been fabricated, and the thickness of ultrathin phosphor layer is optimized to achieve high efficiency. The results showed that OLEDs based on the exciplex interface and a 0.5 nm thick phosphorescent dye have a power efficiency, a current efficiency, and an external quantum efficiency of 37.4 lm/W, 40.5 cd/A, and 14.3%, respectively, which are almost two-folds higher than those with non-exciplex interface devices. Meanwhile, the efficiency roll-off is significantly suppressed. These improved device performances are attributed to the elimination of triplet energy leakage from exciplexes to constituting molecules, efficient energy up conversion of triplet exciplexes and complete host-guest F?rster energy transfer. These results will provide an easily-fabricated and time-saving approach for high-performance OLEDs.

  • Realizing efficient bipolar deep-blue light-emitting poly(2,7-carbazole) derivatives by suppressing intramolecular charge transfer

    摘要: Two series of twisted bipolar poly(2,7-carbazole) derivatives, namely PCz-37RSOs and PCz-28SOs, were synthesized by introducing electron-deficient 2,8-dioctyl-dibenzothiophene-S,S-dioxide-3,7-diyl (37RSO) and dibenzothiophene-S,S-dioxide-2,8-diyl (28SO) unit into poly(9-heptadecanyl-2,7-carbazole) (PCz) backbone, respectively. The incorporation of electron-withdrawing 37RSO and 28SO into PCz backbone decreased effective conjugation length, and further restrained charge transfer effect existed in dipolar system, simultaneously, the balanced charge carrier injection/transportation were realized due to the electrophilicity of SO unit. Consequently, the resulting polymers showed hypsochromic shift and narrowed emission spectra regarding to PCz-37SOs that contains linear SO unit in main chain, and exhibited balanced hole/electron fluxes with respect to PCz in the range of 0–10 V. The single-layer devices based on resulting bipolar polymers exhibited excellent electroluminescent spectra stability in the current densities from 100 to 400 mA cm?2, and displayed deep blue electroluminescence spectra with the Commission Internationale de L’ Eclairage (CIE) of (0.16, 0.07) for PCz-37RSO5 and (0.16, 0.09) for PCz-28SO5. The superior device performance was achieved with the maximum luminous efficiency (LEmax) of 2.69 cd A?1 for PCz-28SO20, which obviously outperformed that of 0.24 cd A?1 for PCz. These results indicated that twisted molecular structure design is a promising strategy for efficient deep blue light-emitting polymers.

    摘要: This paper introduces a new circuit-level idea for driving optrodes in an optical stimulation system. Trying to make the stimulation circuitry energy efficient, the proposed idea is based on the basic concept of adiabatic circuits. Based on the idea proposed in this paper, a prototype stimulation circuit was developed and tested. The optical stimulation back-end also includes a micro-fabricated optrode array, specifically designed, developed, and tested for multi-channel optical stimulation in a semi-implantable optogenetic system.

  • A Novel Series of Thermally and Electrically Stable Hole-Transporters End-Capped by [1]Benzothieno[3,2- <i>b</i> ][1]benzotiophenes for Organic Light-Emitting Devices

    摘要: A novel series of hole-transporters for organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) was developed with the aim of high thermal and electrical stability. This was achieved by introducing [1]benzothieno[3,2-b][1]benzothiophene (BTBT) moieties as end-cap groups. These BTBT-end-capped hole-transporters exhibited superior thermal stability with a glass transition temperature (Tg) of over 150 °C and high electrical stability in green phosphorescent OLEDs at a high brightness of over 8000 cd m–2 (current density: 15 mA cm–2).
