  • Optimal attack-aware RWA for scheduled lightpath demands

    摘要: In Transparent optical networks (TONs), the data signals remain in the optical domain for the entire transmission path, creating a virtual topology over the physical connections of optical fibers. Due to the increasingly high data rates and the vulnerabilities related to the transparency of optical networks, TONs are susceptible to different physical layer attacks, including high-power jamming attacks. Developing strategies to handle such attacks and mitigating their impact on network performance is becoming an important design problem for TONs. Some approaches for handling physical layer attacks for static and dynamic traffic in TONs have been presented in recent years. In this work, we propose an integer linear program (ILP) formulation to control the propagation of such attacks in TONs for scheduled lightpath demands, which need periodic bandwidth usage at certain predefined times. We consider both the fixed window model, where the start and end timings of the demand are known in advance, and the sliding window model, where exact start and end times are unknown but fall within a larger window. We consider a number of potential objectives for attack-aware RWA and show how the flexibility to schedule demands in time can impact these objectives, compared to both attack-unaware and fixed window models.

  • Period Doubling of Dissipative-Soliton-Resonance Pulses in Passively Mode-Locked Fiber Lasers

    摘要: Period-doubled dissipative-soliton-resonance (DSR) pulses are numerically investigated in a Yb-doped ?ber laser based on non-linear amplifying loop mirror (NALM). In the case of low pump power, stationary dissipative solitons with uniform pulse peak power are obtained in the laser. Further increasing the pump power, the laser operates in the DSR regime, where the phenomenon of period-doubling bifurcations could occur. In a period-doubled state, the pulse peak power returns back to its original one every two cavity roundtrips while the pulse duration remains almost the same. We analyze the effects of cavity parameters on the DSR-pulse features under the dynamic bifurcations. It is found that the saturation power of NALM plays a dominant role in the formation of period-doubled DSR pulses. Our simulation results are conducive to enriching the dynamics of DSR pulses in non-linear systems.

    摘要: Matrix inversion is a fundamental operation for solving linear equations for many computational applications, especially for various emerging big data applications. However, it is a challenging task to invert large-scale matrices of extremely high order (several thousands or millions), which are common in most Web-scale systems, such as social networks and recommendation systems. In this paper, we present a lower upper decomposition-based block-recursive algorithm for large-scale matrix inversion. We present its well-designed implementation with optimized data structure, reduction of space complexity, and effective matrix multiplication on the Spark parallel computing platform. The experimental evaluation results show that the proposed algorithm is efficient to invert large-scale matrices on a cluster composed of commodity servers and is scalable for inverting even larger matrices. The proposed algorithm and implementation will become a solid foundation for building a high-performance linear algebra library on Spark for big data processing and applications.

Because of its compact size, the proposed feeding network can be further integrated with a dual-polarized aperture-coupled antenna, which can exhibit two orthogonal linear polarizations and two orthogonal circular polarizations. Measured results of the polarization-agile antenna are shown in detail, which verify its performance.

    摘要: In this paper, a new ordinary differential equation numerical integration method is successfully applied to various mathematical branches such as partial differential equation (PDE) boundary problems, PDE initial-boundary problems, tough nonlinear equations, and so forth. The new method does not use Jacobian, so it can handle very large systems, say the dimension N = 1 000 000, or even larger. In addition, we give a very simple accelerating convergence approach for the linear algebraic equations arising from linear PDE boundary problems. All the numerical results show that the new method is very promising for super large scale systems.

  • An experimental implementation and testing of a concentrated hybrid photovoltaic/thermal system with monocrystalline solar cells using linear Fresnel reflected mirrors

    摘要: Integration of solar concentrators with photovoltaic (PV) systems reduces the required number of PV panels, which often account for the major costs of PV systems. The linear Fresnel reflector mirror is considered more effective because of its simplicity and effortless fabrication. An experimental test rig of a concentrated PV/thermal system that employs a linear configuration and horizontal absorber was built for evaluating its electrical and thermal performances. The considered concentrator consists of various widths of flat glass mirrors, which positioned with different angles, and with sun light focusing on the PV cells that fixed over an active cooling system. The experimental investigation of the proposed concentrated PV/thermal system shows that higher electrical and thermal efficiencies can be achieved at comparatively high temperature levels than that typically utilized in a nonconcentrated PV/thermal system. The characteristics of PV cells also indicate that the electrical efficiency values in case of no concentration and with concentration ratio of 6.0 are 9.6%, and 11%, respectively. The measured values for the inlet and outlet cooling water temperatures of the receiver showed that the maximum outlet temperature reached was 75°C with a flow rate of 0.025 L/min, and the product thermal efficiency was 62.3%. These obtained results illustrate an adequate and good thermal and electrical performance under the meteorological weather conditions of the province of Al‐Karak in Jordan.

  • Ion temperature measurement by laser‐induced fluorescence spectroscopy in panta

    摘要: A laser-induced ?uorescence spectroscopy system was developed in a linear magnetized helicon plasma at Kyushu University. The thermal Doppler broadening on velocity distribution function follows the Maxwell distribution, and the averaged central ion temperature was evaluated to be ~0.36 eV. The effect of Zeeman splitting was observed for a more accurate assessment of the measurement and is consistent with the calculation. The temperature ratio of electrons and ions, T i /T e, was evaluated to be ~0.1. The result is valuable for evaluating the nonlinear processes of the plasma turbulence. ? 2019 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

    摘要: In this paper, we present a new motor imagery classification method in the context of electroencephalography (EEG)-based brain–computer interface (BCI). This method uses a signal-dependent orthogonal transform, referred to as linear prediction singular value decomposition (LP-SVD), for feature extraction. The transform defines the mapping as the left singular vectors of the LP coefficient filter impulse response matrix. Using a logistic tree-based model classifier; the extracted features are classified into one of four motor imagery movements. The proposed approach was first benchmarked against two related state-of-the-art feature extraction approaches, namely, discrete cosine transform (DCT) and adaptive autoregressive (AAR)-based methods. By achieving an accuracy of 67.35%, the LP-SVD approach outperformed the other approaches by large margins (25% compared with DCT and 6 % compared with AAR-based methods). To further improve the discriminatory capability of the extracted features and reduce the computational complexity, we enlarged the extracted feature subset by incorporating two extra features, namely, Q- and the Hotelling’s T 2 statistics of the transformed EEG and introduced a new EEG channel selection method. The performance of the EEG classification based on the expanded feature set and channel selection method was compared with that of a number of the state-of-the-art classification methods previously reported with the BCI IIIa competition data set. Our method came second with an average accuracy of 81.38%.
