  • Optical quantum bit string comparator

    摘要: Quantum computation has attracted much attention and several quantum algorithms have been proposed in the literature. However, the hardware able to implement such algorithms is still a challenge. In this work, we provide an optical setup for implementation of a quantum bit string comparator, QBSC, for polarization-based qubit, using the non-linear Kerr effect. The QBSC is an important structure for implementation of conditional statements in quantum algorithms.

  • A Tri- State Filter for the Removal of Salt and Pepper Noise in Mammogram Images

    摘要: A new algorithm which uses tree based decision and tri-state non linear values to eliminate high density outlier noise in mammogram images is proposed. The proposed algorithm uses the number of non noisy pixels in the current processing vicinity as values in the decision tree. Tri-state values such as unsymmetrical truncated median or modified Winsorized mean or midpoint replaces the corrupted pixel based on the decision tree in the current processing kernel. The algorithm exhibits good PSNR, IEF, low MSE and High structural preservation property even after removing high density noise. The performance of the proposed algorithm was also found good visually. The Key aspect of the work is the combination of tree based decision and tri-state non linear values which preserves the information content of images that are required for further processing.

  • Rapid screening of ochratoxin A in wheat by infrared spectroscopy

    摘要: The use of infrared spectroscopy for the screening of 229 unprocessed durum wheat samples naturally contaminated with OTA has been investigated. Samples were analysed by both Fourier Transform near- and mid-infrared spectroscopy (FT-NIR, FT-MIR). Partial-Least Squares-Discriminant Analysis (PLS-DA) and Principal Component-Linear Discriminant Analysis (PC-LDA) classification models were used to differentiate highly contaminated durum wheat samples from low contaminated ones and the performances of the resulting models were compared. The overall discrimination rates were higher than 94% for both FT-NIR and FT-MIR range by using a cut-off limit set at 2 μg/kg OTA, independently from the classification model used thus confirming the reliability of the two statistical approaches used. False compliant rates of 6% were obtained for both spectral ranges and both classification models. These findings indicate that FT-NIR, as well as FT-MIR analysis, might be a promising, inexpensive and easy-to-use screening tool to rapidly discriminate unprocessed wheat samples for OTA content.

  • An optimization model for quadratic flow thinning – a traffic protection mechanism for FSO networks

    摘要: Flow thinning (FT) is an active traffic protection mechanism destined for communication networks with variable capacity of links, for example wireless networks. In FT, end-to-end traffic demands are equipped with dedicated logical tunnels (for example MPLS tunnels) whose maximal capacities are subject to thinning in order to follow the fluctuations of the currently available link capacities. It follows that for each demand the instantaneous traffic realized between its end nodes must accommodate to the current total capacity available on its dedicated tunnels. In the paper we develop an optimization model for network dimensioning for an applicative modification of FT, the so called Quadratic Flow Thinning (QFT), and present a solution algorithm based on the path generation method. We derive relevant pricing problems for basic variants of the QFT mechanism (and for its special case Affine Flow Thinning, AFT), and present a numerical study that illustrates efficiency of the optimization algorithm, as well as compares the network cost for different variants of QFT and AFT.

  • Repeater-enhanced distributed quantum sensing based on continuous-variable multipartite entanglement

    摘要: Entanglement is a unique resource for quantum-enhanced applications. When employed in sensing, shared entanglement between distributed quantum sensors enables a substantial gain in the measurement sensitivity in estimating global parameters of the quantum sensor network. Loss incurred in the distribution of entanglement, however, quickly dissipates the measurement-sensitivity advantage enjoyed by the entangled quantum sensors over sensors supplied with local quantum resources. Here we present a viable approach to overcome the entanglement-distribution loss and show that the measurement sensitivity enabled by entangled quantum sensors beats that afforded by the optimum local resource. Our approach relies on noiseless linear amplifiers (NLAs) to serve as quantum repeaters. We show that, unlike the outstanding challenge of building quantum repeaters to suppress the repeaterless bound for quantum key distribution, NLA-based quantum repeaters for distributed quantum sensing are realizable by available technology. As such, distributed quantum sensing would become an application instance that benefits from quantum repeaters.

  • A Generic Receiver Architecture for MIMO Wireless Power Transfer With Nonlinear Energy Harvesting

    摘要: This letter investigates a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless power transfer system under practical nonliner energy harvesting (EH) models. We propose a new generic energy receiver (ER) architecture consisting of N receive antennas and L recti?ers, for which one power splitter is inserted after each antenna to adaptively split the received radio frequency (RF) signals among the L recti?ers for ef?cient nonlinear RF-to-direct current (dc) conversion. With the proposed architecture, we maximize the total harvested dc power at the ER, by jointly optimizing the transmit energy beamforming at the energy transmitter and the power splitting ratios at the ER. Numerical results show that our proposed design by exploiting the nonlinearity of EH signi?cantly improves the harvested dc power at the ER, as compared to two conventional designs.

    摘要: Due to the minimum antenna area constraint, conventional single-satellite SAR cannot obtain the image with wide swaths as well as high-resolution. This problem can be solved by using single-platform multi-phase center SAR or constellation SAR, which divides the large antenna into small antennas. Compared with single-platform multi-phase center SAR, there are several advantages but also challenges for constellation SAR. In this paper, point-target imaging simulations are performed for linear array constellation SAR with long baseline. And the effect of the long baseline on imaging is discussed. And then the methods to overcome the effect and to reconstruct the unambiguity signal is given.

  • A New Algorithm for Blood Flow Measurement Based on The Doppler Flow Spectrogram

    摘要: The blood ?ow is traditionally obtained by multiplying the cross sectional area of the blood vessel and the average blood speed in the cross section, or is given by the integral of the product of the cross section and blood velocity of each element. However, both methods are affected greatly by the measurement precision of the area and velocity. A new algorithm, which is based on the Doppler blood ?ow spectrogram, is proposed to measure the blood ?ow in this paper. In the algorithm, the blood ?ow is calculated according to the double integral of a Doppler blood ?ow spectrogram. To verify the feasibility of the proposed algorithm, experiments have been performed on the Doppler blood-mimicking system KS205D?1 using the SonixTouch ultrasonic system. In addition, linear-regression analysis is carried out to observe the correlation factors between the experimental values and real values of different ?ow rates. Experimental results show that the calculated values and real values correlate signi?cantly (r > 0.969, P < 0.0000001). Experimental results both on males and females also veri?ed the proposed algorithm (r > 0.915, P < 0.00053). Hence the proposed algorithm is proven effective for relative mean blood ?ow measurement. Due to the special structure of the human brain, it is dif?cult to measure the cross sectional area of blood vessel with ultrasound imaging. In this algorithm, there is no need to measure the cross sectional area of the blood vessel. Therefore, the proposed algorithm has the potential to be a new method for clinical ultrasonic blood ?ow measurement, especially cerebral blood ?ow measurement.

    摘要: Because of the unprediction of the scene scattering characteristic and the finite quantization bits, saturated data always exists. Saturation phenomenon leads to a non-linear distortion and interferes to the recognition of the target so that it affects the image quality. Especially when the scene scattering characteristic largely varies, it can generate false targets and degrade signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Compressed sensing (CS), a non-linear reconstructed algorithm, is that samples in sub-Nyquist rate is used to recover the sparse signal with few non-zero elements. This paper proposes the recovery method based on the non-linear characteristic of CS to recover the saturated part of the raw data to the unsaturation state and ensure the unsaturated parts maintain the original state. Simulation results validate the proposed method.

  • A Fuzzy Inference System for Unsupervised Deblurring of Motion Blur in Electron Beam Calibration

    摘要: This paper presents a novel method of restoring the electron beam (EB) measurements that are degraded by linear motion blur. This is based on a fuzzy inference system (FIS) and Wiener inverse filter, together providing autonomy, reliability, flexibility, and real-time execution. This system is capable of restoring highly degraded signals without requiring the exact knowledge of EB probe size. The FIS is formed of three inputs, eight fuzzy rules, and one output. The FIS is responsible for monitoring the restoration results, grading their validity, and choosing the one that yields to a better grade. These grades are produced autonomously by analyzing results of a Wiener inverse filter. To benchmark the performance of the system, ground truth signals obtained using an 18 μm wire probe were compared with the restorations. Main aims are therefore: (a) Provide unsupervised deblurring for device independent EB measurement; (b) improve the reliability of the process; and (c) apply deblurring without knowing the probe size. These further facilitate the deployment and manufacturing of EB probes as well as facilitate accurate and probe-independent EB characterization. This paper’s findings also makes restoration of previously collected EB measurements easier where the probe sizes are not known nor recorded.
