  • Ferromagnetism and Carrier Transport in n-type Diluted Magnetic Semiconductors Ge0.96?xBixFe0.04Te Thin Film

    摘要: The structural, Hall effect, electronic transport, and magnetic properties of Ge0.96?xBixFe0.04Te epitaxial thin film as prepared by pulsed laser deposition technique were reported. X-ray diffraction patterns including linear scans and phi scans confirmed that all films are high quality epitaxy and crystallinity. With the substitution of high valence Bi for Ge element, we found that the previous carriers of hole were changed to electron, which was testified by the negative slopes obtained from the measurements of Hall effect under different temperatures. The electronic transports show a typical semiconductor behavior and can be understood by the small polaron hopping model because the lattice distortions increase the electron-phonon interaction. An obvious ferromagnetic properties occur in the high Bi-doping Ge0.64Bi0.32Fe0.04Te rather than in that with low Bi-doping concentration, indicating that the ferromagnetic establishment is entirely dependent on carrier’s transmissions. The first-principles calculation performed on this system also reveals that the ferromagnetic state exactly exists in the present n-type diluted magnetic semiconductors with Bi co-dopants.

  • Layer-by-layer Modification of Magnetic Graphene Oxide by Chitosan and Sodium Alginate with Enhanced Dispersibility for Targeted Drug Delivery and Photothermal Therapy

    摘要: In this work, graphene oxide nanosheets loaded by magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (mGO) was synthesized and the technique of layer-by-layer (LbL) self-assembly was utilized in the successful production of chitosan/ sodium alginate functionalized mGO naocomposites for use in targeted anti-cancer drug delivery and photothermal therapy. The mGO-CS/SA nanocomposites had a diameter of ~0.5 μm and a thickness of 40-60 nm with superparamagnetic behavior. The modified nanocomposites exhibited a decrease in agglomeration and an increase in stability in biological solution following stability tests. Meanwhile, the nonspecific protein adsorption was strongly suppressed after the modification. The mGO-CS/SA nanocomposites were loaded with doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX) via π- π stacking and electrostatic attraction with a high drug loading amount (121%, w/w). The DOX-loaded nanocomposites (mGO-CS/SA-DOX) showed improvements in function including enhanced dispersion and noticeable pH-sensitive drug release behavior. Cellular studies denoted magnetically targeted cellular uptake characteristics and excellent photothermal effect of mGO-CS/SA, as well as concentration-dependent cytotoxicity of mGO-CS/SA-DOX. Therefore the functionalization of mGO using chitosan and sodium alginate would be beneficial in biomedical applications.

  • Data on characterization and validation of assays for ultrasensitive quantitative detection of small molecules: Determination of free thyroxine with magnetic and interferometric methods

    摘要: The presented data refer to optimization and quantitative characterization of a rapid lateral flow assay based on high-affinity bifunctional ligand and magnetic nanolabels, which was developed for detection of small molecules of thyroid hormones. The results were obtained by including the magnetic particle quantification method, spectral-correlation interferometry and spectral-phase interferometry, dynamic light scattering, enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. The long-term stability of "antibody – magnetic nanoparticle" conjugates is shown. The assay specificity is confirmed, and verification of successful combination of magnetic particles and antibodies is demonstrated. The kinetic and equilibrium dissociation constants are determined for interactions between thyroxine and monoclonal antibodies. The obtained data could be used for design of other platforms for detection of small molecules.

  • Preparation of thulium iron garnet ceramics and investigation of spin transport properties in thin films

    摘要: Compensated ferrimagnetic thulium iron garnet ceramics were prepared by the sol-gel method, which is significantly better than conventional solid-state reactions. Saturation magnetization yielded a maximum of 16.7 emu/g for specimens sintered at 900 °C. Subsequently, using the TmIG bulk as the target, an epitaxial film was grown by pulsed laser deposition. Furthermore, the spin transport properties of film with an attached 5 nm-thick platinum layer were studied in terms of longitudinal spin Seebeck effect (LSSE) and spin Hall magnetoresistance (SMR). The LSSE coefficient was as high as 0.38 μV/K and the SMR was 0.0072%. These results indicated that the bulk material and thin film presented excellent qualities, which are extremely important for the fundamental investigation of novel spin transport behaviour in compensated ferrimagnetic insulators. These results also provide more alternatives for spintronic materials.

  • Synthesis, crystal structure and physical properties of Yb2Pd3Ge5

    摘要: A systematic study on the existence of R2Pd3Ge5 intermetallics with heavy rare earth metals (R ? GdeLu) was conducted; only the Yb2Pd3Ge5 was revealed to exist. Its crystal structure was established by X-ray powder diffraction and re?ned by means of Rietveld method. This compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic U2Co3Si5 structure type (Ibam, oI40, Z ? 4, a ? 10.2628(1), b ? 12.0580(1), and c ? 5.98251(6) ?), which represents an ordered derivative of the tI10-ThCr2Si2 prototype, ubiquitous among intermetallics. Magnetization and susceptibility measurements indicate that Yb2Pd3Ge5 is a paramagnet with meff close to 0.8 mB/Yb-atom, suggesting a nearly divalent Yb state. Electrical resistivity and Seebeck coef?cient of the studied compound as a function of temperature con?rm its metallic-like behavior.

  • The effects of Tb doped ZnO nanorod: An EPR study

    摘要: Structural and magnetic behaviors were studied and correlated with each other for Zn1?xTbxO nanorods synthesized by hydrothermal method varying x values from 0.01 to 0.05 with 0.01 step increment. The structural properties of Zn1?xTbxO nanorods were determined by X-ray diffraction tool. All nanorods were found as a single phase with ZnO wurtzite hexagonal structure. The concentration-dependent of lattice parameters, cell volumes, microstrain, stress, dislocation density, the locality of the atoms and their displacements, and bond length in Zn1?xTbxO (where x = 0.0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, and 0.05) structures were detailed. The particles with varying magnifications were observed as random agglomeration using Scanning Electron Microscope measurement tool. ESR spectra of Zn1?xTbxO were collected at room temperature on a Bruker EMX model X-band spectrometer operating at a frequency of 9.71 GHz. ESR measurements have been performed and analyzed through concentration dependence of the g-factor and the line-widths of pike to pike (ΔHPP) of ESR spectra. Experimental and fitting X-band ESR spectra of Tb doped ZnO nanorods with a different doping concentration of Tb recorded at room temperature were presented.

  • Magnetic targeting core/shell Fe3O4/Au nanoparticles for magnetic resonance/photoacoustic dual-modal imaging

    摘要: This study reports magnetic targeting guided magnetic (MR)/photoacoustic (PA) dual-modal imaging by core/shell Fe3O4/Au nanoparticles. In this work, MR imaging provides time-dependent tumor location, and PA imaging reveals high resolution vasculatures inside the tumor. It is noted that the synthesized Fe3O4/Au nanoparticles exhibited higher r2 value up to 329 mM?1 s?1 than previously reported T2 contrast agents. Furthermore, the Fe3O4/Au NPs are applied as a promising candidate for in vivo MR/PA imaging of tumors by intravenously injection into LNCaP tumor-beared mice. The MR/PA imaging results show a significantly enhanced MR/PA images in the tumor site. The prepared core/shell Fe3O4/Au nanoparticles will be widely applicable in multi-modal imaging.

  • Linear polarisation of Class I methanol masers in massive star formation regions

    摘要: We present the results of the linear polarisation observations of methanol masers at 44 and 95 GHz towards 39 massive star forming regions (Kang et al. 2016). These two lines are observed simultaneously with the 21-m Korean VLBI Network (KVN) telescope in single dish mode. About 60% of the observed showed fractional polarisation of a few percents at least at one of the two transition lines. We note that the linear polarisation of the 44 GHz methanol maser is ?rst detected in this study including single dish and interferometer observations. We ?nd the polarisation properties of these two lines are similar as expected, since they trace similar regions. As a follow-up study, we have carried out the VLBI polarisation observations toward some 44 GHz maser targets using the KVN telescope. We present preliminary VLBI polarisation results of G10.34-0.14, which show consistent polarisation properties in multiple epoch observations.

  • Synthesis of silver phosphate/sillenite bismuth ferrite/graphene oxide nanocomposite and its enhanced visible light photocatalytic mechanism

    摘要: In the present work, silver phosphate/sillenite bismuth ferrite/graphene oxide (Ag3PO4/Bi25FeO40/GO) nanocomposite has been successfully fabricated via hydrothermal strategy and ultrasound precipitation treatment. Afterwards, physicochemical properties of as-obtained composite were studied through X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV–vis DRS), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface areas, vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM) measurements. Meanwhile, Linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), Mott-Schottky (M-S), Transient photocurrent-curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements were measured to investigate the photoelectrochemical properties. Besides, the degradation efficiency of Rhodamine B was as the evaluation of PC efficiency, which could reach 96.9% after 75min illumination. The results indicated that spherical Ag3PO4 and Bi25FeO40 crystallographic particles were integrated with GO and the enhanced PC performance can be attributed to significantly visible light absorbance and charge separation efficiency. Furthermore, to distinguish the contribution of reactive species including ?O2?, ?OH, H2O2, h+ and e?, several scavenger experiments have been conducted. Noticeable, the Ag3PO4/Bi25FeO40/GO nanocomposite has magnetic because of the integration with Bi25FeO40. Eventually, the possible photocatalytic performance mechanism of Ag3PO4/Bi25FeO40/GO was proposed.

  • Proper horizontal photospheric flows in a filament channel

    摘要: Context. An extended ?lament in the central part of the active region NOAA 11106 crossed the central meridian on Sept. 17, 2010 in the southern hemisphere. It has been observed in Hα with the THEMIS telescope in the Canary Islands and in 304 ? with the EUV imager (AIA) onboard the Solar Dynamic Observatory (SDO). Counterstreaming along the Hα threads and bright moving blobs (jets) along the 304 ? ?lament channel were observed during 10 h before the ?lament erupted at 17:03 UT. Aims. The aim of the paper is to understand the coupling between magnetic ?eld and convection in ?lament channels and relate the horizontal photospheric motions to the activity of the ?lament. Methods. An analysis of the proper photospheric motions using SDO/HMI continuum images with the new version of the coherent structure tracking (CST) algorithm developed to track granules, as well as the large scale photospheric ?ows, was performed for three hours. Using corks, we derived the passive scalar points and produced a map of the cork distribution in the ?lament channel. Averaging the velocity vectors in the southern hemisphere in each latitude in steps of 3.5 arcsec, we de?ned a pro?le of the di?erential rotation. Results. Supergranules are clearly identi?ed in the ?lament channel. Diverging ?ows inside the supergranules are similar in and out of the ?lament channel. Converging ?ows corresponding to the accumulation of corks are identi?ed well around the Hα ?lament feet and at the edges of the EUV ?lament channel. At these convergence points, the horizontal photospheric velocity may reach 1 km s?1, but with a mean velocity of 0.35 km s?1. In some locations, horizontal ?ows crossing the channel are detected, indicating eventually large scale vorticity. Conclusions. The coupling between convection and magnetic ?eld in the photosphere is relatively strong. The ?lament experienced the convection motions through its anchorage points with the photosphere, which are magnetized areas (ends, feet, lateral extensions of the EUV ?lament channel). From a large scale point-of-view, the di?erential rotation induced a shear of 0.1 km s?1 in the ?lament. From a small scale point-of-view, any convective motions favored the interaction of the parasitic polarities responsible for the anchorages of the ?lament to the photosphere with the surrounding network and may explain the activity of the ?lament.
