  • Hyperspectral Imaging for Evaluating Impact Damage to Mango According to Changes in Quality Attributes

摘要: Evaluation of impact damage to mango (Mangifera indica Linn) as a result of dropping from three different heights, namely, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 m, was conducted by hyperspectral imaging (HSI). Reflectance spectra in the 900–1700 nm region were used to develop prediction models for pulp firmness (PF), total soluble solids (TSS), titratable acidity (TA) and chroma (?b*) by a partial least squares (PLS) regression algorithm. The results showed that the changes in the mangoes’ quality attributes, which were also reflected in the spectra, had a strong relationship with dropping height. The best predictive performance measured by coefficient of determination (R2) and root mean square errors of prediction (RMSEP) values were: 0.84 and 31.6 g for PF, 0.9 and 0.49 oBrix for TSS, 0.65 and 0.1% for TA, 0.94 and 0.96 for chroma, respectively. Classification of the degree of impact damage to mango achieved an accuracy of more than 77.8% according to ripening index (RPI). The results show the potential of HSI to evaluate impact damage to mango by combining with changes in quality attributes.

  • [IEEE 2018 7th International Conference on Agro-geoinformatics (Agro-geoinformatics) - Hangzhou (2018.8.6-2018.8.9)] 2018 7th International Conference on Agro-geoinformatics (Agro-geoinformatics) - Mango Grove Relevant Information Extraction Using GF-2 Satellite Data

摘要: The foundation of information extraction based on remote sensing imaging involves spectral band information. Such a method often suffers from the distinctive problem of surface features. In general, artificial orchard planting is relatively regular; thus, it shows textural features that differ from other vegetation types in images with a specific spatial scale. This study used mango groves as research object. By introducing spectral index, texture feature parameters, and by using support vector machine classification method, based on GF-2 satellite images, mango grove information extraction was studied under different combinations of spectra band, vegetation index, and texture feature parameters. The findings show that the information extraction via single spectra band information has lower accuracy. Introduction of a combination of spectra index and spectra band information can improve extraction accuracy of mango groves; however, the overall classification accuracy still remains low. In addition, the introduction of information and spectra band information combination can dramatically improve extraction accuracy. Producer's accuracy and user's accuracy increased to 85.7% and 93.5%, respectively. Under different combination modes, the extracted mango grove accuracy of the combination of integrated spectra band information, textural feature, and vegetation index is optimal. Producer's accuracy and user's accuracy increased to 89.3% and 97.4%, respectively. Relative to the spectra band information, the extraction accuracy improved by 20.6% and 11.0%, respectively. As a result, the support vector machine of integrated spectra and texture can effectively extract the spatial distribution information of mango groves. This method can provide a technical reference for remote sensing extraction of artificial orchards.

  • Drying of Mangoes (Mangifera indica L.) applying Pulsed UV Light as Pretreatment

摘要: High-intensity pulsed UV light is a non-thermal treatment used in the sanitization of fruits. As a secondary effect to sanitization, the energy of the pulses is absorbed by the fruit and converted into internal energy, which results in partial evaporation of the water of the fruit. In this work, we have applied high-intensity pulsed UV light as a pretreatment for convective air-drying evaluating its advantages and disadvantages on the drying process and nutritional quality of the dried product. Mangoes were subjected to pulses of UV light and dried in a convective oven-drier. The pulsed UV light pretreatment reduced the water content in the samples but did not affect the kinetics or apparent water diffusivity of the subsequent drying process. The concentration of vitamin C and carotenoids in dried mangoes subjected to fluences between 3.6 and 10.8 J/cm2 in the pretreatment were between 10 and 40% higher than the untreated dried mango. The concentration of vitamins B1, B3 and B5 increased by 10 to 25% in dried mangoes subjected to fluences between 3.6 and 7.2 J/cm2, in comparison with the untreated dried mango. Vitamin B6 was highly affected by pulsed UV light decreasing by 40 to 50% in the pretreated mangoes.
